What is a 'SSID:othernetwork' and how do I know?

What is it?

Hello

SSID (Service Set Identifier) is simply the name that you selected for the connection when you set up your router. The default value is typically the name of the manufacturer - that is not very useful, because most people use the routers of a relatively small group of brands - Linksys, Netgear, Belkin etc. - so if you leave it in the default you will not be able to choose your own from one mass of others.

The SSID is displayed when you use the scan of your wireless adapter installation to detect local wifi networks. If you apply a unique name to your connection on the router, it will be easier to identify and connect to the correct link.
