  • How to check if a fix has been applied to the database?

It is easy to know which patches have been applied to the software with opatch lsinventory oracle. But what about the database? How will I know if the corresponding sql code has been applied?

    My real problem:

I have an environment (Linux) with 12.1.0.2.4 (so no later than patchest). If I create a new database (without worrying if I use a model predefined by default as "Generalist" or create a database of "customized") I do not see that the power supply has been applied. My theory is that the template should not have applied patch while the custom database needs.

    I checked with

    SELECT the version, State, bundle_id, patch_id, bundle_series
    OF dba_registry_sqlpatch;

but the two database returned no returned lines.

If I run datapatch it applies the patch so after that the output of the query looks like this:

    PATCH_ID VERSION BUNDLE_ID BUNDLE_SERIES STATUS

    ---------- -------------------- --------------- ---------- ------------------------------

    20831110 12.1.0.2 SUCCESS 4 PSU

but this isn't what I expected as a new database should be the most recent version of the sql scripts.

According to the README file for patch 20831110:

3.4 patch Instructions in post-installation for databases created or upgraded after the Installation of the PSU 12.1.0.2.4 in the Oracle home

You must perform the steps in Section 3.3.2 "loading change files in the SQL database" for any new or upgraded database.

  • Changes in sqlnet.ora may make the database down?

    Hello

I changed to enable authentication of the os giving the NTS parameter in sqlnet.ora

    Today the database was down.

Is that what makes the database down?

I couldn't find anything in the alerts log

    Help, please
    Arun

    Hello

Concerning the sqlnet.ora setting, it is possible to set two values as follows, but it is not always well managed
(in a version NONE is ignored):

    SQLNET. AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NONE, NTS)

Furthermore, it affects the connections only (anyway be careful before changing this parameter).

Thus, it is likely that the root cause of your accident.

Please, post more info on the Alert.log and Event Viewer, as previously posted, it might help to understand
    What happened.

    Hope this helps.

  • What is the "best way" to see all the 'hooks' that affect the database?

    Hi all

I'm responsible for exporting all schemas using the data pump and then re - import the scehmas, yet once so we can reorganize the real table spaces.

I know that this can be done using grid 12 c, but I'm not sure I want to use this feature for this task.

Anyone who has used the feature of grids to 'keep the tables' and then re - organize them while they are still online?

I'll have to finally make it to the PROD database and I am concerned about the "break" out of jobs, items, ect, ect.

What is the "best way" to do a proper verification of all database objects and or work, that the export/import might pipe upward?

As I did for example, a simple count on all objects and of course excludes "SYS and SYSTEM" and the County was in close 60 000 objects.

How do I know all 'hooks' that are inside the database? What is the way that do you?

    Thank you

    Lady Allora.

    Hi, Justin.

I think that's what I'm going the way of...

    Select os_username, username, OWNER, dba_audit_trail SQL_TEXT

    where rownum<>

    where username <> 'SYSTEM '.

and also have different variations all asking questions them the same point of view...

Modes of verification do you find useful?

Also I'm using something like this as well.

    Select "check standard", sessionid,

    proxy_sessionid statementid, entryid, extended_timestamp, global_uid,

    username, client_id, null, os_username, userhost, os_process, terminal,

    instance_number, owner, obj_name, null, new_owner,

    new_name, action, action_name, audit_option, transactionid, returncode,

    SNA, comment_text, sql_bind, sql_text,

    obj_privilege, sys_privilege, admin_option, dealer, priv_used,.

    ses_actions, logoff_time, logoff_lread, logoff_pread, logoff_lwrite,

    logoff_dlock, session_cpu

    Of

    dba_audit_trail

    where rownum<>

    order extended_timestamp;

    Thank you

    Lady Allora.

  • Is there a way to change the connection string to the database by using the command line on the virtual machine?

Hi, I use 1.5 space Horizon

can someone help me by telling me where I can change the connection string for the database on the virtual machine itself.

I was away, and our stuff has been migrated databases to another server. Now my horizon does not connect because it can not find the database. I can either on the hwconfigurator.xxx.com.

    Thank you

What do you see when you go to https://hwconfigurator.xxx.com?

You can try to change this property in /usr/local/horizon/conf/runtime-config.properties on your service - will (s) and the server restart of tc by using the command "/etc/init.d/horizon-frontend restart".

    datastore. JDBC. URL = jdbc:PostgreSQL: / //saas? = stringtype unspecified

  • How s/n know when and what account perform a function using the database link?

    Dear,

My application of the CIM team asked DBA to create new function and run it. Function must use the database link for remote database data. So I need to create a new database to their licensing link. Cause we guess we'll experience the performance issue after the user performs this function, or another question and errors may occur. So we want to know when and who use this feature that connects to a remote database through the new database connection in advance. And I also need to know when and which connect to the remote database using this new database link. We have no idea to get this information?  Can anyone recommend how do? Thank you very much.

    Best reqards, Otis.

Check what business purpose, it will solve.  If the function is so safe, why everyone will use. Only admin people should access.

All of these additional controls of this kind must be avoided as much as possible to improve the overall performance of the application.

Still if you need, see the database audit mechanism, specifically designed for this type of activity.

    Kind regards

    Harman

  • What is the updating of the database?

    Hi all...

Can someone tell me what exactly the average refresh databases in oracle?

    Thanks in advance...

jgarry, you are quite right about that.

An update of the database for a developer could mean just refresh the schema to use in the development database, but NOT patterns of the user.

An update of the database to a tester could mean to update all application schemas, but certainly NOT the patterns of the user.

An update of the database to a manager might mean updating the entire database of production, including patterns of the user.

Most of the cases, an update of the database will probably only see the application schemas they use and not the user patterns.

In these cases, the use of import and export is the most common method to make the update, although transportable tablespaces multiply for this purpose, but also of the flashback database for testing purposes (or even Real Application Testing - which uses flashbacks).

In some cases, a test database will need to be completely refreshed with RMAN.

    I hope this helps.

  • What happens when the database in backup Mode?

    Hello

    What happens when we kept the database in backup mode, by using the command "Alter database Begin Backup" means;

    Thank you...
    ASIT

OK, now my query is whether Oracle freeze the data file header and information is stored in the log file of restoration by progression. So if my backup job continues for 30 min and at the same time someone did some update of database, then how these updates to the information written back to the data file after "Alter Database End Backup'.»

Oracle only blocks data file headers, no body. Modified blocks will be stored in data files (at control points) even in backup mode.
If checkpoint has not arrived yet after this update and validation, and DB has decreased, then when it will start it will redo-log automated recovery.
