  Each regular on NTFS file can be considered be a single 'hardlink' a data element. You can have multiple hard links, which is like having the same file in two places with just the cost of the extra link and not the data. The '. 'and'.. ' directory? A few hard links in the current directory and the directory's parent. WinSxS is full of files that are installed as components, usually of Windows and other Microsoft software. When these recommended "settled" in a given place, what actually happens is that a new link (hard link) is created in the data file. It is one of the reasons why Vista can be installed that on NTFS - it made prolific use of hard links. The physical files has obvious implications - you're not only compressing the installation media, but only copies of the actual files that make up Windows. If you package, part of what you package consists of installed files - or files that you can install later. And Windows (or other applications) do not always provide a compressed file. For example, Vista will choke if you try to install the libraries shared IIS and its XML schema for winsxs files are compressed. They probably check that it still has the read-only attribute and I forgot to allow the presence of other attributes. Personally, I think it's a bug, but whatever it is, there is a risk that you must be aware of.   The anti-phishing directory is created when the of Internet Explorer Phishing filter is enabled. If you disable this filter, which is entirely up to you, it will probably disappear. Whatever it is, this isn't anything that will cause harm and in fact, so there is nothing to worry about.

  It is supposed to be empty.  The only reason why it's the same, it is just in case some older or poorly constructed programs trying to find it.  Basically, for reasons of compatibility, so old/bad programs don't crash.

  There are actually a lot of this in Windows.  For example, years (2006), the 'Documents and Settings' folder has been renamed 'users', because it is easier, not of spaces and other reasons. But some programs are built to search for "Documents and Settings" instead of using the method of detection of the program.  These bad programs would be would break if you installed on another language because (duh) other languages don't misspell the folder the same as in English.  So to try to keep these bad programs to plant, there are all kinds of things like that.

  It's for a friend Treo 650, synchronization with Outlook 2002 via Palm Desktop 6.2 Outlook conduits.  But this laptop already used Chapura PocketMirror 3.0 with a m500, and I'm clean a few vestiges of the old stuff Palm and Chapura.  In Outlook, I see a folder named "Handheld Synchronization" with a subfolder named Archives which itself contains folders named calendar, Contacts, Notes and tasks.
