• Answer 'Failure to sync' after downloading a file

  My apologies if I'm duplicating - I think I could have posted this in the wrong discussion.  So here goes again.

  I try to use CC file and folder to save the files synchronization - especially, I test with my LR 5 catalogue file - which is a single file (for example Catalog.lrcat) which, in my case, is 1.45 GB.

  I am downloading using Office CC - not the browser interface.

  I'm on MAC, OS X 10.8.5 (ML).

  My download speed is about 400 kb/s - and so this download takes eaxactly almost an hour.  Just as he finished, CC Bureau reports "do not Sync.  I tried several times.

  Now, I did some research and it is said that because it is a large file, uploading to the server should not start until the file is copied to my system disk in the folder where it is located normally in my creative brief Cloud Files - on my system, it takes about a minute (give or take).  However, it seems that the download starts while the copy is current.  Not sure if this is right.

  Can anyone suggest a way to get more information about what exactly is the error; or why it fails to synchronize.

• lrcat and lrdata file size... What is too big

  I run several lib in LR2.7 and I also run a large library and I wan't to know what would be the top recommendation from the point of view of the size of such a size large library or the size of the file.

  Currently my biggest lrcat file is 2.03 GB with the lrdata in 17,32 GB file.

  Performance is very good with this lib on my workstation... I can't run it on my laptop cause it is too slow for obvious reason, but is there a limit (via set hard or just best practices) in order to limit my files lrcat or lrdata for less then 20 GB, 10 GB, 5 GB?  Those with large lib you can chime in here what you do?  The Adobe ones can you chime on what is the best practice?

  To 17 GB, I wouldn't mind the size of the file lrdata (excerpts), 10 times that is not uncommon when previews are set high quality. However, 2 GB for the lrcat file suggests that you have a very large number of images (i.e. 100 000 more) or masses of metadata associated with each image. Usually, Lr2.x is having trouble when catalogs become large, but Lr3 should be able to do this fairly easily.

  a. like you said that the size of file that 1.45, could you give the exact size in MB, GB or KB?
  b. Since the photoviewer is used to display basic tiff files, if the file contains additional metadata information that can not be played on photoviewer it could give you the error message.
  1 copy these pictures on another computer in Windows 7 and check if the files open.
  2. you can also try to change the file format and check if it converts in this format and it opens correctly.

  Click 'Create' and follow the prompts to load your new page layout file. You then change the query from report definition to use the new layout.
