What is - this: \\?\volume{35047d67-a1a2-4378-ba3e-09b3e02cf010}\

I found this, when I started the disk defragmentation.  I've seen this type of file, disk, app before an accident is important on the XP operating system. I don't know if this is a cause of contributor or root. but I am very worried that search files, web search and bing search engine have been unable to locate a source. defragmentation as it is listed > Drive: \\?\volume{35047d67-a1a2-4378-ba3e-09b3e02cf010}\ Media Type: HardDiskDrive last run: run ever current status: OK (0% fragmented).

I pointed out and choose analyze/optimize and there is no response to all orders button. Should I panic or find a way to IDENTIFY it and remove or just ignore it?

What version of Windows are you using?

It is a formatted partition - C, D, E - these are volumes on the disk

He may not need to defragment.  Recovery partitions get never affected so that they do not need Defrag.

  • What is \\?volume\ which is placed on the dialog to defragment?

I run Vista and opened the defrag program to run a regular defragmenting the hard drive. I've done several times before and have defragmented the volumes C and D. This time, the dialog box has an unknown volume identified as \\?\volume{c0d0a16f-f527-11df-b405-806e6f6e693}\... What is this volume... where it comes from and how do I get rid of him?

    Hello Michael,

    The guid of the ID<{c0d0a16f-f527-11df-b405-806e6f6e693} should="" correspond="" to="" the="" drive="" within="">

I guess it can be a player who did not receive a drive letter.

First of all, we can take a look in disk management:

    1. Click Start and right-click computer.
    2. Choose manage
    3. Click on disk management.
    4. Looking for a drive with a drive letter.

If it is not present, then we can look in regedit:

    1. Click Start
    2. Choose run
    3. Type regedit and press ENTER.
    4. Click Yes at the prompt of the UAC.
    5. Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices key.
    6. Find the GUID above and see if there is a drive letter associated.

Let us know if that helps.

  • What are the causes "Ignore permissions on this volume" to reset?

Asking again because I'm really interested in this.

"Ignore permissions on this volume" periodically becomes somehow unchecked in my internal memory drives, all three at the same time, and I want to know what can be the possible causes. Nothing unique or any action on my part come to mind, I only noticed because Finder is set to show all files, so hidden system folders icons have the red on their door.

Here's the bit that evolves on its own or by me inadvertently.

Did you try to boot into Recovery (R command) and run the DiskUtility > first aid on your Macintosh HD (s)?

You can do more research, but this link Re: won't stick ignore ownership on this Volume - offers a terminal command to remove the /var/db/volinfo.database - I've not tested this.

Running currently on OS X El Capitan with Update Version 10.11.3 installed January 27, 2016

Problem: I was on the purchase of 2016 Office for Mac and tried to install the update of El Capitan OS X 10.11.1 which is necessary to solve the problems with this version of Microsoft Office.  During installation, the following error message appears:

"OS X El Capitan update cannot be installed on this drive. This volume does not meet the conditions required for this update".

I would be very happy if someone can help me in installing this update.

    Thank you.

I just got a quick reply saying 'You are not allowed to create or update this content'. What should I do to solve the problem? Thank you.

You are using a newer version of El Capitan that the updater contains and so cannot install it.

  • "ignore permissions on this volume" is missing

Parameters have somehow recently changed to my external hard drive.  This disk is used for time machine backups and make manual backups of files and folders.  Now, I have to enter my password each time I have delete a folder.  When I look at my external drive in the Finder and choose 'get info', check the box and "ignore permissions of this volume" does not appear.  I know that if it is not, I could check the box and turns off the need to use my password to remove the folders of the external command.  What happened and how do I change my settings?  This option does not appear when I choose 'get info '?

You can not ignore permissions on a backup volume. In addition, you should not use the volume for anything other than Time Machine backups.

  • Windows cannot run disk checking on this volume, because it is write protected.

I can't get the start menu appears in safe mode then I have botted on a cd with the command prompt and when I type chkdsk/r, so, it gives me "windows cannot run disk checkingo n this volume because it is write protected."  Can someone tell me what I can do to fix this?

If you encounter a problem that you need help, follow these steps:

Please provide additional information on your system:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

What you see you don't think you need to see?

What do not you think that you should see?

Fill in the blank: my system worked well until: _.

If you just want to start by running chkdsk /r on your hard drive (a good idea), I would follow the instructions below:

Use the XP Recovery Console to check the file system on your HARD drive and fix all the problems.

Boot into the Recovery Console Windows using an XP bootable installation CD.

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the command prompt.

Start by checking the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.  It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

What can I do? is a D: disk defragmentation program at system startup? Please help me :(

Its a simple but problem ongoing with the pagefile... The hd is in use & cannot defragment parts of it

Properties, performance, advance, the page file, change the button, select the hd, press "no paging file" value

Enter 2 X, close, restart the pc. Once in xp, open cmd, type: CLEANMGR then select the hd,

type: Defrag D: D: being fragmented, once through, hd output cmd, return to system properties, set

the swap file for hd to "let the system manage", click 2 x game, close, you get a couple of windows

  • When you run defrag, get the message "You have no need to defragment this volume", it still should be done?

Each week, I run chkdsk, disk cleanup and defrag but ' end defrag I was wondering should I defragment it even though it says "You don't need to defragment this volume" I remember that someone said to defragment your volume once a week or once a month. I'm so confused: / what should be my routine? defrag every week or once a month? Help please ~

Contrary to what said Divya R I would run a week Disk Defragmenter although you see "you don't need to defragment this volume." The report is based on a statistical analysis and figures produced in this way on a global scale can often be misleading. You can manipulate the numbers to present the result you want to see.

An obvious defect, is that the analysis is almost certainly done on all files. However, the files that you always have access to are only a small proportion of the whole. You want to be able to access the files that you are using the large archive of that rarely used files.

Supplied with Windows XP Disk Defragmenter is a utility written more than 10 years that you might want to try Defraggler which is freeware and a more flexible tool. I used it successfully for 2/3 years before I migrated from Windows XP to Windows 7.

  • What is this symbol?

I am a newbie with iMovie 10.1.2. In the middle of the picture below, what is this red arrow and the small icon (maybe an icon for a clip?)? I have no idea how it got there, its uses, its meaning or how to get rid of. (Small stays icon where you see, with the red arrow as if it is attached to the arrow). The red arrow behaves more or less like a slider. If I move it to the playback head, he likes with the playhead. Unless the reading head is in the gap between the clips. Then it can be moved elsewhere. Very strange. Thank you

It's the slider you see when pressing the R key to select a range in a clip. The arrow is red until you move it over a clip and then change to black. It should move with the skimmer. You see this continuously even when not having not touch R? If the restart if iMovie should erase.
