I know that you can remove some programs, but how do I know what ones I can remove without affecting my computer?

We cannot comment on what programs you need to remove. In addition, some programs running in the background and removing will raise questions.

However, you can uninstall programs that have been installed by you. You can go to start-> programs and features-> press enter type. Search for programs that have been installed by you, select them and click on uninstall, individually.
Once uninstalled, you can install another drive as the installation location.
But, before you uninstall, go on-> do work right click on the C partition :\-> click Properties. In the Properties dialog box, click Disk Cleanup. In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, click clean up system files. And then click Ok. This will clean the junk files.
  • What program can translate words hovering over him?

    Translator programs

Dad has Windows 7, during playback of some foreign sites online, I noticed that he has a translator on his computer - when you move the pointer over the word, the program translates the word - nobody knows what this program and if I can download it?  I have windows xp

Your father may have a third-party plugin for Internet Explorer (IE) that does it; However, you probably don't need to rely on these third-party plugins.   I think that since version 8, IE includes a built in Accelerator for Microsoft Translator services:

    http://microsoftfeed.com/2010/Internet-Explorer-8-translation-using-accelerators/

So if you are ready to install IE8 on your Windows XP box, you should be able to get a pretty convenient way to the translation of text from one language to the other web.  I believe you can get IE8 for XP here:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?ID=43

Note: I think that IE8 is the latest version of Internet Explorer which will build for Windows XP.

  • which Windows programs can be removed safely if I can get more space on my hard drive?

I have an Acer Netbook - installed Windows XP Home Edition, SP3, 98 GB RAM, 1.60 GHz. I continue to have problems with the lack of disk space. I already deleted all the photos, photos, etc. I bought an external hard drive with 1 Terrabyte to use (I hope) as an aid.  Everything is saved on the external hard drive, but I keep running out of space whenever I get an update of Windows. I finally disabled the automatic updates, or now, my pc would not work even once. I need to know exactly what programs can be deleted, or how I can make the hard drive external hard drive. I can't afford a new pc with more space.

Certainly, these services can be disabled and/or deleted.  You really should update your Windows XP SP3 as nothing else is no longer supported by Microsoft.

  • Cannot open e-mail messages. MSG, it's that there is no program associated with this file and define and association. Have no clue as to how or what program choose. Thank you jp__

    problem is email

I assume you are talking about email attachments.  Each attachment has a three-character extension that associates the file with a program (in the start menu / default of programs / associate a file or Protocol with a program and then scroll through the list for the three-character extension).  Many are well known (.doc for Word Documents) and .pdf for Adobe Reader documents, but some are not so well known.  Some are also used by several different programs is sometimes important to know what program created the file in order to know what program to associate with her.  Your best bet since it is emails is to ask the sender to you say the name and version of the program so that you can install a program that can at least find out if is not working with the file if you do not recognize the extension.  Some attachments to e-mail are not intended to be read and there are programmatic reasons and must not be opened (but I can't give you a list of all of them - barely know they exist).

Sometimes you can google the extension (for example, google .avi http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/avi.cfm) and a link arises which will tell you what programs can do the file type and which programs can read or work with the file type (or you may need to go to other links to get this reversal - in this case a lot of programs can open the file because it is a very common file for which many different programs have been developed - program that it becomes irrelelevant).  If it's a single program, so you know what you need.  If more than one program, you must the sender to tell what program you used to create the file unless the .avi file that can be read by the host (or you can guess or try different options until you find one that works but this can take a long time, can damage the open file with wrong program and can be expensive if you buy one of the programs that you are testing).

In fact you do not define an association.  When you install the program, the extensions it can handle are identified by the Setup program and included in the listing file associations.  In fact, there is no way to add an extension to the registration of the association - you can change the programs that are used by the extensions in the list by default.  Some extensions are added automatically by Vista when installed and work a little differently than others (for example, .lnk or .exe), but we don't need to go into that, unless the extension you are having problems with is one of those (you don't mention the extension so I can't give you advice).

    I hope this helps.

HOW KNOW WHAT PROGRAMS ARE SAFE TO REMOVE, SO YOU CAN SPEED UP YOU COMPUTOR

Ouch! Please do not yell at us. We can hear you if you type normally, in different cases.

You can remove any program that you have installed, but do not use. As long as you do not remove your security or components of Windows software, there is no security problem.

But note the following. Removing a program will save you a bit of disk space, but it does not speed up the computer. What are the programs * race * affects the speed, not what you have installed.

    Hello

You can use these to control which startup programs. Many others who settle start-up are not
really need to be there. As Acrobat Reader (Adobe), Agent of WinAmp and many others who
load chunks of themselves to start more quickly (not a problem on the machines of today ' hui) and to make sure that they
can control the files they support (to be sure that you continue to use only). Those who are examples only common and not designed as a slam on these programs very well.

  • Need a list of what I can stop using the Task Manager to help play games that are hanging up or jump or stopping programs.

I know how to stop most of the programs running in the back ground by using the Task Manager and the process tab.  But, I click "Show processes from all users" list is double what it was.  I need a list of what I can finish process without going through the computer off and restart or with on dreaded blue screen.  So I ask if anyone has a list of processes that are sure to stop?  Thanks in advance, Frankster195

I'm not sure that understand your problem.  The 67.6 GB you have available is about 600 times more than the MB 166 who tell you that you need.  You should have absolutely no problem.  You have no problem, or I do not understand your question.
