What the... "Partitions"?

So I have the windows32 error whenever I try to start my computer or go in safe mode:

When the computer is turned on, this message appears;
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or damaged. \windows\system32\config\system. You can try to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original installation CD ROM select 'r' in the first screen to start repair

Then I put in the repair disc and went straight towards the resettlement as shown in this Web site: http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/138-how-to-repair-windows-xp/

I followed the steps and the way until the acceptance form, where I pressed F8, and instead of the next blue window on the Web site, I get this:

You have chosen to install windows xp on a partition that contains another operating system. Installation of win xp on this partition may cause the other operating system to function properly.
CAREFUL, install several operating systems on a single partition is not recommended. To learn more about installing multiple operating systems on a single computer, see; www.Microsoft.com/Windows/multiboot.asp (which does not exist)
then the messages said. To continue Setup using this partition press C... HOWEVER, to select a different partition, press ESC.

It also gives me the option to delete my Partition1 (My C drive) and Partition2 (My D drive). It also gives an option to create a unpartition space that takes up 8 MB, which is relatively small compared to the other options ranging in the tens of thousands.

I have absolutely no idea what to do and do not want to screw up anything, so can an expert help me and tell me what to do? Sorry for the question long.

Thank you very much in advance.

    Hello world

I have a laptop quite old and finally 37 GB C: drive is full and I would like to delete the partition between it and the 35 GB D: drive so I can use the entire disk. However, when I go into management records 'Delete Volume' is gray, only "shrink Volume" is available and it cites only 2031MB.

I moved all my files to D: drive to my external drive created back - ups, system images etc. The only thing that remains on the D: drive is 4.71 GB of 'EULA', "LocalizedData" and "SetupResources.dll" of the system files. Would it block the 'Delete Volume' If yes what can I do?

    Hello

first of all, in reality 'a partition table' means create a new table a migration of existing data it (although, theoretically, you can use dbms_redefinition to partition an existing table - however, it's just doing the same thing behind the scenes). This means that you also get to decide what to do with the index - index will be local, who will be global (you can also reassess some of existing indexes and decide that they are not really necessary).

Second of all, the choice of the partitioning key seems weird. Partitioning is a data management technique more that anything else, in order to be eligible, you must find a good partitioning key. A column recently added, named "data_seq" is not a good candidate. Can you give us more details about this column and why it was chosen as a partitioning key?

I suspect that the person who proposed this partitioning scheme made a huge mistake. A non-partitioned table is much better in all aspects (including the ease of management and performance) that divided one wrongly.

  • My new computer came with a partitioned hard drive. I have not create the partition. What is it?

    original title: Partition of mystery

I just got a new computer. It has a 2 TB hard drive that apparently has already been partitioned, creating a drive E. I have not create the partition. The files on the partition are old EULA, the .cabs, and .dll files, but this that baffles me, is that the two disks are the same size, 2 TB. It is the size of the disk itself. Whence comes this extra drive, and how these two readers may overlap?

Should I remove this extra drive and if so, how can I do?

    Thank you

    Tim

Wait, I'm CONFUSED! YOU can not HAVE a PC THAT IS 4TB SIZE!

EDIT: Sorry, but Acer installed 2 HDD. (Wow!)

Be sure not to remove the 2nd partition, because it IS a recovery or backup disk.

  • How to undo the Partition of the disk on El Capitan

    Hello

I have a disc of SSHD TB 1, I had been running on my Macbook 2009 6.1 for on a few months or more.  Because I wanted a partition to use Time Machine, I had partitioned the drive by on 50-50.  Things have been working quite well until I recently made the mistake of trying to resize the partition and accidentally created a new partition (which I didn't).  Is it possible to cancel the new partition (as do not have here in the first place) and that the primary drive where I start with about 700 GB and "partition" I want to keep to 300 GB (so I can use Time Machine to back up the main drive)?

I tried to find "logical volume" or the "+ -" options on my disk utility interface, but they are just not there for me to use.  This computer is running on El Capitan.

I tried using the disk utilities, but I got the message that I couldn't change the partitions.

(In Dutch: "Deze kan niet worden gewijzigd partitie"; in English, something like: "this partition is not editable")

What is the procedure that you follow?

    1. Select the disk in the sidebar that contains the partition you want to enlarge, then click on the Partition.

    2. in the list of available Partition, select the partition in the partition you want to enlarge, then click on remove.

The partition is immediately erased, leaving the space it occupied available.

    3. resize the partition by doing one of the following:

    • Drag the separators between the partitions in the list of available Partition.

    • Select a partition in the Partition layout list, and then enter a value in the size field.

    4. click on apply.

  • Backup hard drives internal and external to separate the partitions on an external drive of a second... ?

I want to back up an internal hard drive (let's call it 'A') and (B) external drive using Time Machine. Both are 1 TB in size, so I bought a 2 TB external drive and created two partitions (C and D) on this subject, only to receive each backup. So:

    A = internal hard drive

B = external drive (for "overflow" files)

C = partition to external drive for backups of A

D = partition to external drive for backups of B

My question is, can I set up Time Machine so that A back up C, every time the 2 TB drive is connected, and B backup up to D whenever the two external drives are connected? I thought it would be possible, but at the opening of the Time Machine preferences and selecting D for the first time I get a message saying:

"You want to stop backup up to 'C' and use"D"instead or back up at the same time?

If you use the two, Time Machine will take turns backup up to "C" and "D". »

I wonder if it would just be easier to return to a single partition on the hard disk of 2 TB and have the time machine to perform a backup of everything, that is, both A and B?

Last question: I'm doing this to improve Yosemite to El Capitan. the operating system affect what I'm trying to get time Machine to do?

    Thank you!

Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support

I have a non-partitioned device TM backup of your data and your OS disk at once

If in case you partition and drive "B" needs more than what is on the partition and drive 'A' don't you avoid warning.

update of the OS is fine, as it will give an output back to a previous TM operating system where you need it, but it is compatible across versions.

  • Satellite Pro C660 - 21(d): question about the partitions on the HARD disk

    Hello

    I just started using my new satellite pro c660 - 21 d

    My office has drive c, d, u, s
    C either windows 7, Vista D
The drive U is 342 meg in size

I didn't have the disk in two 230 gig drive so thoughtless narrowed C drive of 70 GB and D drive with 10 gig (it's the primary recovery partition

I have now two empty partitions of 170 Gig (from c drive)
and 214 Gig (from d drive)
But windows will only allow me to add one as a disc of the user
He says may not have more than 4

The reason for being there is a partition of Active recovery without letter.

I can't unshrink drive C or drive D then I went with 170 GB of unused space.

I guess that a solution would be to lose the data disk 10 gig that contains the recovery software but then I don't have a backup.

Suggestions as to what I could do to work around this problem.

I am now under the Create recovery disks (2 of them) so maybe I could remove one of the partitions after.

I don't know why he answered instead of edition, but if the recovery disc creation complete with no errors, I can remove the hard drive?

I tried to download windows for my iMac. I bought the full version via USB for it. I followed these instructions: create an ISO image for Windows - Apple Support installation media Boot Camp to create my own ISO image. I did, and I ejected from disk image Windows "10" as he told me too.

When I go to download the support software and partition it, he will get after downloading the Windows Support software, then to halfway in partition the drive, it will say "disk does not of enough space to be partitioned. (PS) The "BOOTCAMP" image will appear on the desktop until it says the message and then will disappear and the message will occur.

I fixed the disc and it defragmented. It's a lot I put 300 concerts for the Partition. I don't know what is happening.

  • How to extend the partition C on Satellite L450 - 17K

    Hello

I'm working on how I can change the size of the partition on my hard drive my C drive is nearly full, and D is a pain to keep anything on that most of what I have links to my Ipad that does not detect it when its on drive D!

Is there anyway to delete the partition or change the size of it without losing my data or having to restart my system?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

It is possible to change the size of the partitions in the management of the disks in win 7.

But you will not be able to shrink the partition D and add this free space on the C partition using the Windows option because the free space would be created after the D partition.
To move the free space between D and C partition a 3rd party software is necessary.

I recommend the use of a tool called * GParted.*

It s freeware and you can use it to manage your partitions on the HARD disk.

  • Satellite A300 1J1 - Recovery Mode "Expert" to change the size of the partition

I'm trying to reconfigure the size of the partition of windows with the recovery partitions as I don't like the idea of having the poit drive 50-50.

I would like therefore to reduce it so that only the data of recovery will be adapted on the D drive and my main partition will be much greater. IE C: = 240 GB + and the recovery drive (d) will be only 5 GB (large enough for recovering data only.)

I posted this thread here a few days ago.

This and the search of these forums has gotten me to the point where I think I need to use the DVD of recovery in "EXPERT" mode This should allow me to set the partitions manually rather than automatically right in the Middle!

I noticed that the screen asking me what to install has a SETTINGS option that is always grayed out.

Does anyone know how to open the SETTINGS screen, or if there is another way to create the partitions manually?

    Thanks for any response.

    Hello

I have already replied to the other thread (see the link in your message)

The point is that you cannot resize partitions using the Vista Toshiba Recovery DVD.

Mentioned Expert mode is not available in the Vista recovery DVDs.
The expert mode is part of the Win XP Recovery CD.

However, the fact is that the Vista recovery DVDs sets the laptop to factory settings and also the size of the partition.

The sizes of the partitions can be modified in the Vista Disk Manager!

    Good bye
