  Since this problem you encounter began after that windows update, you can use the System Restore tool to return your computer to an earlier point in time. The tool using System Restore may not necessarily help you determine the problem. When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

  Before you start Please back up your data

  To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

  ·         Click Start, type System Restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

  ·         In the System Restore dialog box, click choose a different restore point, and then click on Next.

  ·         In the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

  ·         Click Finish.

  ·         The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

  If it is an update, the best way to solve this problem is to apply only updates one at a time to determine which updates is causing this problem.

  Click on start-> all programs-> Windows Update, click on change settings in the left menu. Select download updates but let me choose whether to install them, click OK. • Black screen when launching games... ANY GAME!

  Whenever I try to run a game starts, the screen flashes a few shades of black and then stays that way.   According to the Windows 7 Compatibility Center , none of the games you listed appear as "Compatible" they all show as "pending information."  However, some of them were made for Vista, so it is very likely that they will run on Windows 7.  You should check with the manufacturers of games and see if there is any patches\updates for the games.
  I suggest that you work on one game first.  First of all, make sure that your drivers are in fact Windows 7 drivers.  You can have the most recent driver, but it is not for Windows 7.  Also, make sure that you have updated all your hardware drivers not only the video (sound card, chipset, etc...).  Uninstall one of the games, and then reinstall it.  When you install it actually browse the CD for the configuration file and right click and run in compatibility mode for Vista.  See if that helps.   I just burn a CD with no problem at all.  Using the same type of CD, brand new, I tried to burn another CD and got this error message:
