  Try to manually configure the DNS servers in the network card settings (guide: http://www.plus.net/support/software/dns/changing-dns-windows-8.shtml).
  It fixed the problem for me.
  Apparently it has something to do with the reuter incorrectly redirect DNS queries (I use D-Link).

  The cause of this problem could be the corrupted resource (.dsres) file or disk error. Here are some things you can do to solve the problem.

  Method 1: Run the disk check.

  Method 2: Defragment the hard disk.

  This improves the performance of your hard drive.

  I'm running a Dell Precision M6500 - 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB SSD, 512 GB HD (40GB free on SSD - primary drive), the i7-840-64 bit with Windows 7 SP1 (fully updated).  I'm under Office 2010 32-bit.

  I recently loaded Workstation 7.1.4 and now I can't open Outlook.  It is the Outlook on my computer, not a VM Workstaiton.   It starts, it appears on the task bar, I see the window with calendar and tasks meeting reminders, I can sync with my Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone.  I can start a new email and send it out.

  I can't get the program outlook to open the screen showing me, emails and calendar appts, etc..  When I search on the Outlook program in the taskbar below, it flashes and not Notting else.  I ran scanpst and found nothing.

  I am able to see and use the program when I open Outlook in safe mode.

  Help!

  For all windows off the screen (for a reason any), if you do of their assets (must be in the taskbar or have another way to make active, such as a command in an application that opens / active window), then use ALT + SPACE, then M (to move) and the arrows then. This has saved me countless times.

  The other strange thing is that I used to get the "warning: script does not" prompt that displays "a script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding." You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script ends. "sometimes when I would buy on Macy's.com. This is the only site that it happened.
  I know I have only little technical knowledge, but I have tried to figure this out for a few days and do not know what is happening. The only thing I can think is that I somewhere files corrupted causing this problem. I have just updated to Windows 8.1 tonight in the hope that can help, but nothing helped. I would be very disappointing if I couldn't use FF or must go back using Chrome and FF.
