New messages in Outlook Express do not appear in my Inbox.

When I connect to Outlook Express it shows receive mail down when I have mail.  When he made x number shows new messages but they do not ALL see the in the box.  No idea where they're going or if I can get back them?

Thank you

original title: OUTLOOK EXPRESS

All messages are actually downloaded? If you do an another send/receive manually, the same messages to download again? If you are not sure, check your server Webmail site.

Check also other files, especially not with one more sigh at the front.

If you have message rules, temporarily uncheck all.

The next step is to create a new identity, but to see how it goes first.

  • No notification of new message in Outlook Express

I check the box to let me know the arrival of a new email and with sound howerver, that it does not work only when I go to Outlook Express how can I get this to work? Thank you

Well, OE should be opened for a notification, but it can be minimized in the taskbar. If you get no sound notification in this case, open the control panel. Sounds and Audio devices | Sounds. Scroll until further notice by email and make sure that there is a selected sound. If there is, try a different sound, as a test.

If you still have no sound, try a new identity.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it's the default main identity. File | Identity | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.

  • How to see the number of new messages in Outlook Express?

When I log into Outlook Express I am advised I have say 2 unread mail messages... and of course
in the Inbox are two unread messages.
However I have some rules of messages put in place that moves incoming messages more
    TO
different subfolders... so those who say no read 20 messages appear scattered

Anyway I can note that I have say 22 messages unread when I first login?

    Hi John,.

Unfortunately, this option is not possible. By design of Outlook Express e-mail account appears for mails that are present in the Inbox.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you.

This is a very good article, but it does not address your problem. It is usually Windows Search, but it could be something else.

The problem is with the registry counter which gives you the prompt after 100 closures of OE. It is increased faster than it should be after you install SP3, even if you use not OE. Here are some of the possible causes.

Keyboard IBM rapid access (pilot) RAKDLL. DLL
    Search Windows {office}
    MailWasher
    Nero-plug-in (s)

Opening of EML files while OE is closed will also help the County to register.

Different antivirus, antispyware, and third-party firewall, especially if they were running when you installed SP3.

I had already tried to send (by e-mail) 4 messages on Outlook Express.  These messages was not an error saying that amount report exceeded content allowed.  I am trying to send more than one message today, but four other messages that have failed are included in this attempt and I get an error.  How can I clear the previous 4 messages that did not send so that I can send it a message.  I can find the Inbox on 'Outlook Express', but not a place where I can go to remove these failed messages.  Help, please!

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the Outbox.dbx file and delete it.  A new, empty and clean, Outbox is created automatically when you open OE.

  • Outlook Express - will not let me delete any message

Outlook Express will not let me delete all messages?  How can I fix?  Thank you!

You have corruption of dbx files.

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and move the messages you want to record off deleted items, and sent items. Locate the OE message store and then close OE.

With OE closed, find the Deleted Items.dbx and Sent Items.dbx files and delete them. New files will be created automatically when you open OE.

Compact all folders as described below.

To avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • Import e-mail messages from Outlook Express in Windows Live Mail?

I have recently moved to a new PC with Win7 and have been using Live Mail - more often with success, I thought with the exception of one or two faults, but I'll probably post a question on those.
On the audit of my old PC today, when I open Oulook Express have been downloaded more than 100 emails that have not appeared in Live Mail - dating back to the time I went.
I tried to export these messages of OE, put it on a USB key and then import in LM LM do not seem to recognize them - these are the dbx files. Suggestions anyone please?
    Thank you in advance.
    Jeff.

If both computers use the same e-mail address, you must do this to get the messages on both.

On both machines: tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - Check: leave a copy of messages on the server.

On a single computer only, make sure to delete messages after X days to satisfy your allocated space that you get from your server.
    *********************************************
Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

    For Messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files.

    For addresses:

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

    For the account settings:

In OE: Tools | Accounts, select the account and export it to the desktop. This will be an .iaf file. Copy it to the new computer and WLMail desktop: tools | Accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

WLMail specific help, please use this forum.

If you just need to transfer these 100 messages, put a Windows folder on the desktop. Drag the messages of OE this folder. Copy the folder on the new machine and drag the messages into a folder of WLMail.
