When starting my PC under XP, get error msg 'error 8004100 A in IEnumWbemClassObject::Next:WBEM_E_CRITICAL_ERROR '.

Hello. I get a msg of error saying "error 8004100 in IEnumWbemClassObject::Next:WBEM_E_CRITICAL_ERROR" when I start my PC. In addition, Windows does not detect my Avast antivirus and the red icon with a white cross. These events seem somehow related as they began to occur after power is triggered during a thunderstorm, the other day while my PC boot the system. Since then, I get this error msg and cant't Windows detect Avast. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Avast but always the same mistakes. I use Windows XP. I hope someone can help. Thank you very much!

I use Windows XP SP2. I did no changes to my PC before the show. The error message was "Error 8004100 A in IEnumWbemClassObject::Next:WBEM_E_CRITICAL_ERROR" and also appeared red Windows Security Center icon with a white cross.  When I click on the red icon, I see that Windows Security Center is not able to detect any antivirus on my PC software, although I have Avast! up and running. These errors occur whenever I start my PC. And the first time that these errors have occurred after there was a disruption of supply from my PC while booting.

I did some research on the web, the last two days and fell on this

That solved my problem. The error message disappeared and the Windows Security Center is now able to detect Avast!

    I get error 2378 could not access VBScript Runtime for custom action, when I try to install the software and uninstalling some software.

    I tried several online for regsvr32 vbscript.dll fixes and nothing has helped.

    I tried to remove the keys from HKCU\Software\Wow6432Node and it is said that they do not exist.

    I have registered the VBScript engine in the folder it is installed, said successful but still does not work.

    I tried with run as administrator of the command-line also.

    It is a Dell laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Method 1: This error message indicates that the VBScript engine is not currently registered on the machine where the installation/uninstallation. I suggest to try the steps below and check if the problem is resolved. If you have already tried these steps then we do know.

    Delete the registry following key then save the VBScript code and check if that helps:

    Step 1:  If you have a 64-bit operating system, you must follow these steps:

    a. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.

    b. right click on cmd in the list programs, and then click Run as administrator.

    c. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

    reg delete "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\ {B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}" / f

    If you have a 32-bit operating system, you must follow these steps:

    'Could not initialize installation' could indicate a corrupted download. If you haven't done so already, try the following steps:

    1. Uninstall Lightroom 6: How to manually uninstall the Lightroom
    2. Use the Adobe Cleaner tool to remove the remains of program use the Adobe Creative Cloud cleaning tool to solve installation problems
    3. Download a new copy of Lightroom 6 to install Photoshop Lightroom
    4. Try reinstalling the program.

    If, after re-downloaded, you keep getting the same error, I recommend you to review the installation log files to identify the specific error: Troubleshooting Adobe Creative Suite install problems with log files.

    Hi Christi,

    You may receive this error if you try to open a file media shortly after the closing of Windows Media Player (WMP).  When you close WMP, the user interface is closed immediately, but WMP continues to be in a State of "shutting down" for a few seconds, and the process is still in activity during this period.

    To avoid this problem it should be enough to wait a few seconds before Windows Media Player opens, 2 seconds at least.
