  Where your LR catalog?  If it is on your C drive, additional space only on C should be for the information added to the catalog and previews, which must be low, unless you generate 1:1 previews, which can be larger and take more space.

  Import your bitmaps from the library. In the library, you can select the images and look at their info (the little i in the Library palette button). Here, you can set if they are without loss or JPEG and you can adjust the quality, including the possibility to keep the quality imported. There is a smoothing option too, that most of the time do not want you to put work.

  Now to use an image you would drag it to the stage. If you animate this bitmap, it will have become a symbol at this time here. If you later want to use a different bitmap, you previously driven, import the new image of the library, double-click the symbol that the old bitmap is in, select the old bitmap and in the properties panel, you will see a button Swap.   There are only three reasons that I see which files are not imported:

  1. the issue of Raw + Jpeg, you already have reduced.

  When the photos are copied on a CD/DVD they are self
  sort... first in alphabetical order and then digitally.

  Once you have pictures in the order you prefer... re-
  name the files with numbers so they will stay in order.

  Right click on the first file in a group selected (highlighted)
  photos and choose... Name change.

  Enter the following for the #1 photo: (you can also
  Add a descriptive name for the Group)

  Been (10001) .jpg
  (Yes, there is a space between r and the first parenthesis)
  (Yes... Start the number 1 and use the zeros)

  Press on... Enter and Windows renamed others
  photos.

  Been (10002) .jpg
  Been (10003) .jpg
  Been (10004) .jpg
  Etc...

  If you want to continue the next group with the same
  ... Just to start on the following number sequence number:

  I had provided both with Thunderbird and I imported a new address book via .csv. Everything was good until somewhere, I closed this address book and the other two have disappeared. What could have happened, or how can I get these back?

  The two default in Thunderbird address books are staff and collected books. Neither of these can be deleted, so I have to guess that you turned off the directory pane in the window of the sort address book and simply cannot see them.

  Open the address book window.
  In the menu bar select pane display-in page-directory

  If you do not have a menu bar display in address book address book window, press the alt key to make it appear.

  I tried now versions 9 and 10 on a Windows 7 system and both work the same. The "include subfolder" box is not active until I select a folder on the right side - a selection on the side left is not activate it.

  This happens even with pictures taken on another device, not just mine.  My daughter told me that the phone fell recently.  The yellow streak isn't nowhere elsewhere on the laptop, right on the photos in LR.

  It happens when you import new images. This pourrait indicate that the sector where the pictures are copied to is damaged. But it could be a faulty card reader or a bad cable if you connect the camera directly to the computer. It's a hardware problem. Your challenge is to figure out where this problem.

  I looked online and all the info that I found are outdated, or, at least, it does not work.  When I import photos that have been added in photoshop names, the names do not appear in lightroom.  They show only that "Untitled."   When I try to import media into FCPX, my external HD rises like a camera and never displays anything (tricks and spins forever).

  I have other external HD pairs and they mount as expected when you import. I can get to the external HD in question, it is just when I go to import items I hit a snag. I make changes to the properties of my library and changed back. Still have a problem. See screenshot of the Properties window and the import library.
