  By default, the built-in VIP mailbox only checks emails from VIP which are currently in the Inbox, not in other boxes to letters or records either locally on the server. If you have e-mail set up a rule to move emails from specific VIPs in their own folders (or are moving them manually), it is probably why you don't see them in the VIP mailbox and why they reappear when you your choice in the Inbox.

  See the 'All the mailboxes' option "Sort by Date", you must select the individual mailbox the VIP under "VIP".  If your VIP example is 'Joe', select the 'Joe' mailbox then you will see the option "all the mailboxes.

  -Create mail rules that automatically organize and dispose of your incoming emails;

  -Set up the VIP mailbox, so you can prioritize which emails you should pay immediate attention

  And one that is often forgotten, visit the web portal of your email provider and:

  -Set your spam filters/rules;

  -Update your address book.

  When you use iCloud as your e-mail account, you can configure your watch so that you are notified only on e-mails from certain senders. All other e-mails can still be read on your watch, but you will not be notified as they are received.

  Since the upgrade to Sierra (Version 10.12), I can't see the normal (with star) VIP folder and mailboxes for each VIP under the level of the macOS Mail Inbox (to Version 10.0 (3226)). Upgrade deletes the folder? I am not sure when the VIP file is missing. Is it possible to recreate it?

  I tried to choose the e-mail mailbox > rebuild after having poking around the VIPs folder in my iCloud email account.   You do not have. You must remove the VIP status to all who come in contact with you. Right-click on the sender of the email in the mailbox and choose to remove VIP.

  Once you do this, the mailbox will disappear. Restart the e-mail if necessary.

  Tried to import old email from another installation of OS X.  Did not work.  Now I find myself with a folder called 'Import' under on my Mac which won't be not clear.

  Found the box of thugs in the folder ~/Library/Mail/v4.  Deleted.  Restarted mail.  Then, I could right-click and delete the box.  Probably a screw up through OS X permissions, but seems like no one wants to talk about how Sierra is.  I had at least 6 MAJOR issues this week, which should reinstall me Sierra for the 3rd time in a week.

  I understand that you are having problems with the column width of mailbox remaining the same size when you close the Mail application window. I use the Mail app all the time so I can understand your concern. We will be that we can do.

  Since this problem occurs in your main user account, please start the Mac in safe mode, connect as user principal and then add to your account e-mail and then test it. Once you have tested out, just restart your computer to find your main office.
