• VMrun tries to open the new instance of WS on Linux

  Hello.

  I have been using VMrun on Windows for ages, but have only been invited to work on a Linux installation.

  When the workstation is already open, and I then use a VMrun command to start a virtual machine, it opens a new instance of the workstation (which then requires a license key).

  Any ideas why VMrun is not only from the virtual machine the already open instance of WS?

  that is, I opened the gui under the root, then tried to run under a user VM account?  or vice versa?

  The workstation GUI locks the VMX file if you have the GUI open.  I opened it as "jon" user account, and then try to turn on a VMX under account "dave"... I get an error that it can't be done.

  can you try to close the user interface, and then use the command vmrun with nogui option.

  the name of the substitute account may also explain the license key request.

  But these tabs keep opening at startup, hiding my homepage and gets boring.

  I've upgraded to Firefox 41.01 and now when I open a new tab I have only the choice of tiles (which I don't want) or a completely blank page. I want the new tab to open my home page, not the tiles suggested or a blank page.

  41 of Firefox is no longer uses the browser.newtab.url setting in about: config because he was constantly attacked by malware. From 41 of Firefox, you need an add-on to change the new tab page.

  In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the side right, find the new tab replace or custom new tab and click on the Options button. (See first screenshot attached).

  Depending on the size of your screen, you may need to scroll down to enter the address in the form. (See second screenshot attached). For example:

  • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
  • Blank tab = > subject: empty
  • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
  • Any other page = > full URL of the page

  Then tab or click this form field and you can test using Ctrl + t.

  Custom new tab

  It is easy to enter your favourite homepage address. If you check either of the boxes, the expansion will set the focus in the page as well, for example, the cursor will be in the Google search box. (See third screenshot attached). I had to leave Firefox and start it up again before new custom tab started working, but this may have been due to tests so many extensions back to back.

  Hi, I have a problem where whenever I open a new tab in firefox a boring song is playing (for about 7 seconds) and I have no idea what is the cause, I looked through my plugins and I do not see those who would force the latter.   I guess that if: you've certainly visited before a Web site with a song that is played automatically. This site is registered under the most visited and it is displayed as a tile on the page tab.

  Website tiles are preloaded as a classic site in a tab, so if there is music, you listen to this music.

  To correct this, several ways (the first is the more "non-destructive"):

  • Open each site on your new tab page until you find the 'guilty' tile, then click the small cross at the top right of the tile
  • Hide the tiles on your page in new tab
  • Clear recent history

  Hi, as you know, you can change the number of tiles on the Page of the new tab to zoom in or out (Ctrl and + key, or Ctrl and - key).

  If you want to keep the same zoom setting when a new tab is clicked: Type Subject: config in the address bar, press ENTER, accept the warning, scroll to browser.newtab.preload and double-click on it to change the 'value' of true to False.

  It is also possible about: config to change the maximum number of tiles by scrolling to the browser.newtabpage.columns (or Rows), then right-click > modify to set a new number of 'value '.

  As an alternative, you might like to try the add-on new tab tools.

• Windows 8 tiles not opening

  I tried everything above except for run "CMD" because when I right click I don't have the ability to run as an administrator. Still can not solve the problem.

  This is the second time I went through not having this problem... and I got this machine Win 8 only about 1.5 years.  The first tiles stopped working and I couldn't go to the store to update the applications or to update to 8.1... nothing else in Windows has been updated either.  After trying all the tips that I could find that I had to just erase it and restored to the original and start again at ground zero... she sucked!  I didn't go far to 8,1 because I was worried about restore points would not work... now, it seems that I have to go through the process of finding a solution again.  I had hoped they would have solved this problem now.
