Whenever I turn on my computer it runs a scan on the D: drive.

original title: Scaning my disc

I have a PC with XP SP2. Whenever I start my PC, drive D: is the scaned - before windows starts.

By default, any player who is recognized as 'dirty' is checked at startup.  When the chkdsk command is completed, the player must be marked as clean and should not be checked at the next startup unless your computer shuts down correctly.  There are ways to override this behavior, however.  Through the use of the 'chkntfs' command, the drive checks can be forced or compelled to be ignored.  Open a command prompt window (start-> Run-> "cmd") and enter the command:
chkntfs /d
to reset the default behavior.  The command:
chkntfs /x d:
will exclude the the start-up test d: drive even if they are dirty.  For more information, see:
