Do I have to keep all files with similar names to the "$NtUninstallKB971633_0$" are in my Windows folder.  I have a storage problem, and there are nearly 350 of them.

  • Vista: All Windows updates suspended / "Module of Windows Installer has stopped working and Will Close."

On my installation of Vista, all windows updates no longer work.  If I try and run them from Windows Update in Control Panel one starts to run but then it just hangs.  At the same time, I get a message "Windows install Module has stopped working and closes".  If you look in the services, it is crushed, but restarts.  The update remains always hung.  It doesn't matter what update I try and run, I always get the same result.

When the computer is shut down, it also tries to automatically install updates.  These also hang on the first, which means that I have to force power off the computer.

Don't know if this is related, but I don't think that SP2 already installed - it kept if crush (don't remember what was the error message).  When I restart in safe mode it tells me that I'm still on SP1.  I followed all the suggestions on how to get SP2 installed for the error I received, but nothing has worked.

Do not really understand what I have really installed a lot of "_" on the PC, it is a "clean" installation (about 1 year now).

Any ideas?  Really, I don't want to have to do a re-install, but I suspect that is where I'm heading unfortunately.

    Hi AndrewInNZ,

Thanks for visiting the site of the community of Microsoft Windows!

I would like to ask you some questions for a better understanding of the issue:

    (a) did you try to temporarily disable the security software and check if updates are smooth?

    (b) you are using a firewall in addition in instead of the windows firewall? If so disable (temporarily) of the third party firewall and look for updates.
It is usually caused by a 3rd party firewall that it blocks the internal ports.

Check out WERCON for more information-

    1) Click START | wercon.exe type in the search box start and click on enter.

    (2) select "View problem history", under 'Windows identified problems' with the right button on a problem, and then select "view problem details. Click "Copy to Clipboard" export to text document

    Also reset the Firewall setting:

    1) Click START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | Click on FirewallSettings.exe above | Select the Advanced Settings tab. Click 'Restore Defaults ' | Click on apply (if Hi-lighted) | Click OK

Check the status of the service as well:

    Log in as administrator-

Start button | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | Administration tools

    Double-click on Services

(Provide the administrator password or a confirmation if prompted to do so.)

Right click on the 'Windows Modules Installer' service, and then select Properties.

Select the general tab - make sure that the startup type is manual

  • Windows updates files are missing

I tried to download & install a new anti-virus program, said that the operating system could not be updated. The files required to use windows update are longer registered or installed on my computer. Can anyone provide assistance? Thank you.

    Hi redcamaro,

    ·         You get the error message?

    ·         What security software do you use?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Put the computer in a clean boot state to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    (a) click Start, run.

    (b) type msconfigand click OK.

    (c) the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    (d) click the general tab, click Normal startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.

    (e) when you are prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

Method 3: You can also manually install updates (KB number) by downloading from the Microsoft Download Center.

    Can I remove all?
I don't have this problem on my other pc just this laptop.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

It seems that no one is able to answer this question here. If you have 2 possibilities:

-disable the update of windows to avoid an additional installation of new updates and etc...
-go to "Add/Remove Applications" and uncheck the 'Show updates' (or something similar). This box should be at the bottom of this window

Otherwise, you should check out other, more associated microsoft forums, or just google a bit around to find an answer.

  • Satellite L850-1HP not configure downloaded Windows Update files

My laptop was having problems on the first day that first the CD-ROM not open, then the webcam and the microphone switch off forever and can not be turned on again never and finally, this summer, my computer laptop would not connect to any WIFI network at all, it will still fail.

I went to the place where I bought it for support, they sent for repairs, a week later, I'll be back, it is restored back to factory settings, all seemed well, CD ROM functional... Webcam and microphone too.

So I thought I would check around and start things tyding for my taste, and then I realize that I need to download updates from Windows Update, so I do it, on 100 + updates, I start to download, but they do not download until the 20th minute that it is stuck at 0% What seemed fishy to me, because then he just jumped up to 10% and progressed forward.

After downloading the updates, or so he said she had, I restart the laptop in to get their working and configured properly.

There can be no. After I clicked on restart, it began to close, saying it is to configure and to 20-30%, it restarts, and then he charged to the top of the screen, even saying that he configures updates, then he said that he failed and said it restore the data back to normal, that he never scare made.

After about two hours of waiting so he could do nothing at all, I restart the PC, the same thing.

Restart again but this time I restore things settings once more, takes me about 1 hour with a full erase of the data (of course the rest of the OS and toshiba apps too) all implemented naming stuff, and accept the terms and conditions, blah blah, operating system starts, I check everything and restart.

After the reboot, I decide not to configure anything until I downloaded all the windows updates, so I do just that, BUT I get the same error again, sneaky - slow download of updates, restart and get the same message that it cannot configure updates and wait forever-long for the laptop to "restore" data back to normal which she didn't do, once again.

I'm completely helpless as to what I should do, I restored factory once more but this time I'll just wait for some feedback or try to make everything I find on these forums it is useful.

    Help, please.

  • 910219. how to download and keep the Windows Update files?

    Hello

What is the ideal way to update Windows? now, Windows downloads the selected updates. where? I do not know! and after their installation, it removes the packages for installation on my computer. This causes the downloaded updates are lost, and I can't use them to similar machines that need to install the same updates. for these machines, I have to download updates again! This causes my internet to be charged again while it is not really necessary.

the ideal way, in my view, is that I can specify a folder for the Windows Update service. It can use a default folder for that also. After selecting the updates, I want to install in my system, it checks to see if the update is already existing in the folder. only if NOT it downloads. then after downloading it maintains the package in the same folder after installing. installation should be done automatically as it is done now. Then I can move the folder to another machine. in the second machine, I also choose the update I want to be installed which are mostly the same as the first machine. for example, Windows Update only consumes my internet traffic for updates that are not yet downloaded. I wonder why Windows Update doesn't currently work the same way?

by this method, I can at least use the consumption of traffic and I can access the latest updates with the easier and faster way. I I would like to choose a memory flash for this purpose and keep the folder inside.

is there a way to achieve this?
