  I am running windows vista on a computer hp Pavilion dv6500 laptop.  I had a problems of memory processor very high for months.  I did all the usual, uninstalling programs, etc and I noticed there are some programs norton on my page of uninstallers but no information after them and no way to uninstall them.  Norton Internet Security in figure 5 times, Norton Protection Center, SymNet, AppCore, ccCommon, Norton Confidential Web Protection, Norton Confidential component browser and MSRedist.  As I said, there is not any information thereon.  There are two other programs, Zune Language Pack (FR) 356 KB and Microsoft Office Proof (French) 2007 and they either uninstall when you click it.

  There's more... So of course, I stopped all these services and rebooted.  I had to go into safe mode, restore did not work and I remember not even how I got my computer to work again.  It took hours.

  I got a list of services and settings of Microsoft and went through all the new and reset to recommended.   When I rebooted, there was a bright yellow screen, my computer took a few minutes to start and it worked... but not internet access.  Only local services.

  I run norton security tool and found this error message in my documents listed under ccErrDspLog

  It is listed over and over again, and it's been long that I ran this program.   I also tried the norton removal tool and which does not work either.
  So I restored again and now my computer works but still the high memory and cpu usage.

  I'll be back on my 486 days and at the command prompt.  I typed
  Config.sys type C:\
  and the only thing listed is FILES = 40

  then I typed C:\ type autoexec.bat and it's the only entrance...

  I know that this is not normal... Anyone know what it is?  I would just reinstall, a great fight, but not to big, but I want to know what it is and where it comes from?   Thanks for any advice.

  First of all, autoexec.bat is not used in Vista. Try to use the Norton removal tool to get rid of all Symantec programs.

• Dual boot pc - saying PSE8 where files are

  I have Vista on my C partition with photos and catalog on the partition D. I intend to create an E system partition and install W7 it most all of my software and migrate through. I have, in the past, PSE/photos/catalog migrated successfully to a new pc with export / import but that of "not what I want to do this time around. Can I do something like saying PSE where my catalog file is on drive D or maybe copy my D drive catalog on the default value as a PSE will set up on drive E?

  You can move the folder to catalog appropriate using the command file > catalog > move.  That moves the catalog database and associated files, not photos.  To move your photos, see this FAQ:

  Always save your files on your hard drive or server that you have access to. You control where files are saved. They will be there is you cancel your subscription, and they will be there when you register again.

  I am running windows xp Proffesional on 2 computers which are all two store bought. My other pc will now start after installing a windows update that required me to reboot after installation. Now all I get is "config / sys file is corupt or deleted." Insert the windows xp disk and press R to continue. "or something to that effect.

  Because I bought the preloaded pc they came not with all drives except the drive for the kaspersky antivirus protection.

  Is it possible to create a cd that can help me solve my problem? or am I watered and you need to take the pc to the hospital?

• Satellite M115-S30394 - config.sys file is corrupt

  I bought a Satellite M115 S 30394 is about 2 years.
  The first year he had 9 hard drives and Toshiba said they replaced the motherboard 2 times.

  If you get the message that the HARD disk fails, then it s advisable to replace it.
  But it s really strange question

  In any case, I never had this problem on one of my notebooks, but I think you should test the notebook with a new HARD drive.

  Config.sys is unlikely to be used on your computer. It cannot be read when using MS-DOS or Windows 3.1 programs (prior to 1995). It is not even important for most, but not all, of these old programs.

  Ignore it.

  Im trying to create a script that will list all the .bat and .cmd files in a specific folder and add the data to a new file (file.txt) - example below:

  dir c:\>desktop\file.txt/OD
  dir d:\>>desktop\file.txt
  dir f:\jobs\*.bat>>desktop\file.txt/OD

  IM able to search the F drive and the list of all the .bat files using a generic parameter, but ideally id like to search for .bat and .cmd files, but whenever I have it try does not work. Any ideas?

  Any help is appreciated, the reason for which I need to check all the .bat and .cmd files is to ensure that the scripts on a cluster are all data, so need them all listed in a doc if possible
