where is hr_main.sql and other databases?

I searched for examples of database files, as described here, examples of Scripts diagram and Descriptions of the object, to run on my 11 g install Oracle on Windows 7

In my demonstration for human resources (E:\app\Stephen\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\demo\schema\human_resources) file, I see only one file, hr_code.sql. Also, I don't get the main script, mksample.sql, as described in the link above.

I googled this and see other people who have had the problem, I have no companion CD so that it is on. I see here all the files (' Java developers of Oracle 10 g database ' all the source code, can be used... - Free Open Source Codes - CodeForge.com), but I can't seem to download them.

Is there a zip file which has everything I need?

Note: I actually found the downloadable scripts for demo patterns, here (http://www.slimlab.net/downloads/viewdownload/4-database/)

They ran mostly ok, so I have what I need, but I don't actually have the answer on this post, sorry. Experts-Exchange had the answer either.

But I have a sample d.b. loaded, although there were a few problems, I'll post more questions on that.

Thank you!

Some of the users of the application build reports using discoverer; I, personally, hate it.

I am, by nature of my post, considered the Discoverer administrator, however.  I don't know anything about the software, but have recently found how I can get the end-user reports shared for me (for purposes of, then, sharing to others) through SQL (I know, I know - is not supposed to do it this way - but to get my end users to track the requests on the part is like pulling teeth).

In read so, however, it became clear that I had no EUL functions installed for END user license holder.

  • UNIX and SQL and ACCESS database

    I have

a file CF working under Windows with 2 queries (on the Access database):

    1 - is a classic Insert

2 - is a select max of last insert ID

It has always worked under the Windows platform.

My host has changed the platform under UNIX:

Now: I have a bug on the 2nd query (select max ID)

I put a cfabort after 1st request: no error

No this is fair enough, if it works for you, then it works.

The problem with scaling - even if you can just keep adding files that access becomes extremely unreliable when people use it for web applications, as it never did what it was intended for. Microsoft did not recommend to use it for Web sites.

Many are the benefits of database (as opposed to a flat file format) engines - they can manage their own operations, memory, concurrency and locking and caching. While the access now probably has some of these features, I only ever saw problems when an Access database becomes unavailable.

The main concern for me would always be scalability and extensibility. You start with access, you have nowhere to go. If, however, you start with SQL Server Express (which is free), then you can simply upgrade to Web edition, Standard edition, then, can he mirror or cluster, add the replication or log shipping and take your website to a small business site to a massive international operation with practically zero changes to your code.

Try to do this in access

As has been mentioned, access is really intended for small applications with one or two users; It is essentially one to use Excel. Honestly I'm not sure you're talking about small business, when you say moving to MySQL would be "not ergonomic or flexible. No matter what time is fine now and really to you bite in the * further down the line

    >
This means that Oracle has a JVM that is built into the server. This JAVA virtual machine can be used to run any Java classes that you have loaded (using the loadjava utility).

Alternatively, you can write stored procedures that are executed in the same way as basic Java PL/SQL procedures.
    >
It does not imply that we can write the java code in client tools such as sql developer?
    >
It has nothing to do with where the java source code is written. The java source code or the code of the class file must be loaded in the database to be executed.

The Oracle database is unable to interact with the Java code that runs outside the database as part of the same application.

You need a dynamic Server backend. You can't do it just with Muse. You can connect to one of the catalyst for business advanced accounts to implement these features or use widgets from third party services. Otherwise look you in systems such as Joomla, Typo3, Wordpress etc. and not even set up with muse.

  • Where (drive, folder, file name) are database files that store information to catalog such as tags and changed the dates in the 13 elements?

I want just the datebae file which contains the data of the backup catalog.  I can't find it in the 13 elements but could not in 10 items.  Is it hidden in a secret file with a secret name?  Why?

The catalog is a file containing the main database (catalog.pse13db), the cache of thumbnails (thumb.5.cache) and other files and subfolders. To save a catalog, you save the entire catalog with its subfolders. Note that if you do not save the thumbnail cache (which is the largest element in the catalog), it will be rebuilt automatically.

In all versions of elements, Win or Mac, you can find its location on the menu: help/information system.

By default, it is in a folder hidden in Windows.

Why? I don't know, but you can tell Windows Explorer to show hidden files. It is up to you; I always do.

The catalog must always be in the default location? Not at all. You can move it elsewhere. For example, you can maintain your catalogue and your picture library on an external drive. Then, watch as catalog manager being "custom position".

What follows is not in your question, but I assume you are asking only for backup purposes. If you have an external backup system, you must include the catalog folder. It is not enough if you want to restore to another computer or a drive, because the original is dead. The catalog stores the location of the image files with respect to the path, but also for the internal serial number of the drive. Change drive means that all the files appear 'disappeared' or 'disconnected' and you will have to run a procedure to "reconnect". Reconnection is necessary if you are using the internal backup/restore process in the Organizer.

Using Backup, Restore to move the catalog | Organizer | Elements 6 or later version

If you are not in the case of an accident, but you simply want to update (enclosed updated version PES), the integrated system is ideal.

Other backup systems have their advantages. I use SyncToy Windows after each session of significant change and the backup of the organiser at regular intervals.

  • I want to improve my skills in sql and plsql

    Hello friends,

I finished the course SQL and PLSQL a few weeks back. Since then I've been hunting for a relevant work for SQL / PLSQL developer.

However I really want to improve my writing of the subprogrammes, build effective SQL queries to become a skilled oracle developer.

My current work is not linked to this use so all my free time to improve my knowledge in this area.

I know the basics of SQL and PLSQL concepts and can write queries simple, subprogrammes, but to become employable, according to me, that I need to learn a lot more.

Please suggest me some good sources be it no books / sites Web, etc. anything that would really help me become a good developer.

I'm desperate to make a career out of Oracle SQL / PLSQL!

    Thanks in advance.

Do what most of the experts do... start at the bottom.

Find a job in a junior role (and yes it will be low wages initially) where the company may see your potential and enthusiasm to learn and will give training and let you learn on the job.  If you have the skills to do it, then you will learn quickly and prove you are competent and deserve to be promoted to better roles.

When I started (in the same after having a university degree in it), I always had to start at the bottom, in a junior role, on a 3 month temporary contract.  Who got so extended that they identified some new work roles that were needed, and then I had to get one of these new jobs, where I got a permanent role.  Within 18 months, they had sent me on the training, and I was promoted to a role of DBA/programmer, working alongside other programmers and hardware team to manage database servers... everything just because I had shown the ability, willingness to learn and the professional approach to my work.

Don't think you can just get some training or the qualities of the review, but have no experience and just get into some senior roles or an expert, as most of the companies are wise to such things... they want to know what you have for the roles of the experience.

  • concept between MS SQL and Oracle

Hi, everyone, I'm very new to Oracle. Read a few books and confused about some basic concepts:
in the world of MS SQL, you can install several INSTANCE on a physical server, in each INSTANCE, you can create multiple databases, each DATABASE has it is the log data\transaction the disk file.

In the Oracle world, my understanding is, INSTANCE = structure memory + the physical database file (which is about identifying MS SQL). similar to MS SQL, you can have multiple INSTANCEs on each physical server. but who is the "DATABASE" in the oracle world? The closest I think is TABLESPACE. I can assign one or more physical data for each TABLESPACE files. but all the TABLESPACE set the log to roll forward inside the same undo TABLESPACE? In addition, for each application, I need to create one or more table SPACE inside an INSTANCE (it's what I usually do in MS SQL)?

Thank you for your help. Please forgive me if my question is stupid.

Please forgive me if my question is stupid.

Firs of all, your questions are not stupid at all. You can get better understand by defining analogies and comparisons with a product, with that you're familiar with one product. I used the same method when I learned about MS SQL comparing it with Oracle.

    So, welcome aboard the Oracle!

in the world of MS SQL, you can install several INSTANCE on a physical server,

You can have multiple instances of Oracle, belonging to the same or a House of Oracle on the same physical machine.

within each INSTANCE, you can create multiple databases

In the Oracle instance, you can have only one database. That's how it is.

each DATABASE has it is the log data\transaction the disk file.

Even in MS SQL there may be several files of data per database.

    >

    >
    Yes

    >
Here is little similarity between the Oracle TABLESPACE and the MS SQL database.
In MS SQL Database has not only the files associated with it, it has its own security and piece of data dictionary. It can have its own rating, you can detach an instance and attach to the other, you can save some separately, etc...
I'd say MS DB's unit "autonomous and self-containing", comparing to Oracle TS.
Oracle TS is a way to organize the data files and definition some default of the common properties of storage for tables and other segments contained in TS.
TS of Oracle have no separate security and data dictionary. Normally TS can be spare an instance and attached to the other. However, there is a special type of TS - transportable tablespace, which can be seen as a little more closely what is DB Ms.
In any case Oracle TS is not even close to MS DB.
And he does not need to be. It has a completely different purpose.

In addition, for each application, I need to create one or more table SPACE inside an INSTANCE (it's what I usually do in MS SQL)?

You don't have to. But you better to do this way, a point of view organization data. To make things look well organized.
Sometimes a single application can use multiple TS, for example when he needs different block size for some tables.
Also, you can share Costs between multiple applications, as you can do with MS DB.

    What else is different?
There is no separation between the connections and users in Oracle db. It is an entity - USER. He has his security settings and can have its database objects.

In Oracle, can only be a single scheme by the user, even named as a user. Basically it's the same thing - user and schema is the same thing and created and managed by the same CREATE/ALTER USER command.
However, when we talk about storage and a place where objects belong to we say SCHEMA.
When we talk about security and the owner where the objects belong to-we say USER. :)
Schema is like Home in OS users. What the user creates belongs to his 'home' - the schema. And the user is the owner of it.
If a user creates something of the other schema this thing belongs to the than the other schema and that another user will be owner, not the user who calls the CREATE statement.

However, a user can change the current schema for the current session, for do not implicitly by specifying another schema as a prefix for the objects in this schema to another.
    CONNECT scott
    SELECT * FROM joe.emp;
    ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = joe;
    SELECT * FROM emp;

In MS SQL schemas are more like directories, there may be objects of different users in the same pattern and the same user in different schemas.

In Oracle, there are DB that is similar to the linked server connection.
When it is called, DB Link is specified after the name of the object, separated by @.
    SELECT * FROM emp@anotherDB;

    That's the main differences.

Oh yes, Oracle is a release management engine, and MS SQL's engine block, but it can be anything from the latter.
