How to get rid of the "shadow hump" with the default Camera Raw tone curve?

When you create custom profiles with the DNG Profile Editor (Chart Wizard), I usually choose 'Default Camera Raw' or 'Linear' as the base tone curve in the tone curve tab.

Profiles with "linear tone curve" can sometimes be useful or not. which isn't the point here, however, the initial rendering in Camera Raw in Camera Raw default (as delivered, except different profile) is quite dark and dull. While the profiles with the default Camera Raw tone curve are too contrasty for my taste, still referring to the initial rendering in Camera Raw in Camera Raw default (as delivered, except different profile).

What I understand, the curve tonal Camera Raw default includes 3 items which, in terms of language PV2010, are equivalent to: 50 brightness, contrast curve and 25 points: medium contrast. PV2013 it shows as zero/linear, however, it's just a matter of terminology.

I want to get rid of the average curve Point contrast part, not in the profile, eliminating the gross default camera tone curve in the DNG Profile Editor format.

Appreciate your advice how to proceed.

  • where are my sliders region on my tone curve settings panel

I have Lightroom 3.3. Of after the tutorials and books that I have, there should be 4 sliders region directly below the tone curve. I don't have these sliders. Where are they? Any ideas...

You are currently using the point curve. To switch to the parametric curve mode click on the small box at the bottom right of the curved panel.

I just upgraded to LR 5 of 4. Shortly after start using it, I noticed the tone curves, details and effects are all absent in the mode to develop.  I re-downloaded and installed with no return of missing tools. How can I get them back and that's happened?

  • Issue of custom tone curve

    Hello

I am under Lightroom 2015.6.1 and since I've upgraded to this version of Lightroom, I'm unable to do a custom tone curve.

That's what the curve of tone on my screen looks like:

    Screen Shot 2016-09-27 at 12.15.08 PM.png

The options drop-down menu "Line of points" are: linear, medium, contrast high contrast

I know there is probably a very simple solution for this, but I was not able to understand it yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Click on the small icon of curve, the bottom right of your screen capture.  That he tipped into the mode where you can change the curve of the point.  Is that what you meant?

  • LR4.1 - tone curve - how to set the individual RGB channels?

    Hello

I can't find out how to set the curve of different RGB channels.  I guess the LR4 tone curve works as the dialog box curves PS with the channel drop-down list.

    LR4.1 help says:

To make adjustments at different points on the tone curve, choose an option in the menu of the curve of points, click the button change the curve of points , and then do one of the following:

    • Choose an option from the popup menu of the channel. You can change the three channels at once, or choose to change the red, green, or blue channel individually.

When I click on the small icon in the lower right corner of the Panel curve tones, the Panel shrinks while I do not see the sliders of regions.  If I click again, they are visible again.  I can't find where to select one of the three channels indvidual.

Aid refers to the "Point curve menu."  Where is the menu Point curve?  The curve of points is different from the tone curve?

If I right-click (Windows) in the curve dialog box, the shortcut menu has an option show information.  I click on it power and don't see any change or any info.  Where should I look for info?

    Thanks for any help here.

    John

    Hi John,.

The curve of points is without cursors. The settings for the individual channels are only available with

PV2012. You must be editing a file with PV2010 or 2003. When to PV2012, you will see "channels: RGB" under the window of the curve. Click on the triangles of doule following RGB

    for each channel.

  • Why my axis of tone curve is reversed

Can you help me? My axis of tone in PS curve seem to be reversed, so instead of black down left up to white in the upper left and lower right, mine is white down goes to the dark at the top of the vertical and the horizontal right. I googled for a response but no luck. Am I missing a flip button? How can I make normal? Thanks for your help.

I have dnuee and the axis of the curve are correct in LR.

  • I installed lightroom cc 2015.2.1 and that you do not see the tone curves.

I have seen tutorials where the curves of tone is available in the develop module, but it does not appear in my version.

In Lightroom, in the develop module, go to window-> panels and choose to tone curve. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl/2 to display the tone curve Panel. Another alternative is to click on an other securities Panel and choose tone curve.

  • 5DS (r) tone curve in LR and ACR: crushed shadows with all profiles

    Hello

When Adobe released LR CC with what seemed at the time as a preliminary treatment of 5DS (r) Canon files, I noticed that the tone curve with all profiles (Adobe standard or brand profiles) seems to produce shadows much darker than all the other Canon cameras. It's something that dpreview noticed too:

"In addition, comparisons are slightly complicated by the aggressive tone curve that ACR applies to files R 5DS crushing its blacks, and potentially reduce visible noise levels by making them darker. We anticipate a later version of ACR to solve this problem, how reprocess us and return on these results.

    Canon EOS 5 d / 5 d R First Impressions Review: Digital Photography Review

With the release of 2015.1 LR, I expected at this behavior needs to be corrected, but this is not the case. Is this something that is inherent in the 5DS (r) files? Adobe plan to fix this?

    Thank you

For your convenience, I made versions of 'Contrast medium' profiles if you want a low contrast default starting point.

    For the 5 d: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/35081204/Canon%20EOS%205DS%20Medium%20Contrast.dcp

    For the 5 d r: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/35081204/Canon%20EOS%205DS%20R%20Medium%20Contrast.dcp

To install on Mac, download and copy them here: Users/USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles /

To install on Windows, download and copy them here: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\

Then again run Camera Raw / Lightroom and you will see the name 'Contrast medium' appears as an option in the dropdown menu profile (in the camera Calibration Panel), as an alternative to other profiles.

  • I use Lightroom 5 with the creative cloud and my missing tone curve form the side panel. NOT HIDDEN; just went! How can I get that back?

I just opened the app as usual at some saved pictures and everything else is there except that my tone curve is missing!

How can I get that back? I know that some of the arrows down allows you to hide some elements, but my tone curve is gone gone! I use lightroom for years and have never had this happen...

    You have inadvertently disabled it.

Right-click anywhere inside the area of the HHR panel and check the option of tone curve to restore the tone curve Panel.

  • Camera tone curves, exposure and saturation profiles

I use a home made camera profile, since the DNG Profile Editor was released. I much prefer the colors made by using a profile of a ColorChecker card for the provided profiles.

My first profile was based on a photo taken using Adobe Standard, but I didn't like how the lighter tones looked washed out. So I created a curve custom in DNGPE, with a small dip in the upper half of the diagonal. Makes the lighter tones to colours .

A few months later, I created a new curve point by default, with less of a boost in the light. This helped with detail in the sky .

Recently, I realized that I'm adjusting the brightness slider a lot, and I realized that it is because the tone of my profile adjustment decreases the brightness of the mi-teintes. So, instead of setting the default to 60, I created another profile, with a tone adjustment higher in the medium and lower tones in lighter tones. Better default , but I am not satisfied by the lighter tones still .

I think now, exposure down to about 1/3 tab to bring the color back in the faces of the people. I use a Nikon D300, and some people say that it tends to overexpose a little, but I'm shooting raw, and I would have not thought that it was a problem when it's not clipping.

I use a default value of contrast of 25 and the average contrast curve points. When I slide the exposure down, I can see the histogram (ProPhoto) "no - bunching" at the upper end, and it seems to fit with the color back into the cheeks of the people.

Help. I'm confused. Camera raw does something with a saturation at the top of the tone curve?

Hi Yammer P, you cannot add an exhibition shifted on a profile directly, but as you know, you can have a + or - exposure correction built into a default by the camera, or a preset.

On the other hand, pouvez have you a profile-specific tone curve. For example, in the DNG Profile Editor, you can use the second pane to change tone of a profile curve. So if the default highlights are a little light to your liking, you can change the profile curve to bring them down a bit. Then save the new profile.

I understand what you're saying want to add a lighter areas overrun without the darker image overall. We do not have a control that does this directly, while others like the Saturation can help (as you discovered) if used moderately.
