Where temporary target data stores are save?

Hello

I took two sources. A source of oracle DB, second source of flat file and then I took the temporary target as data store.

After successfully running session, I want to see temporary target data warehouses. Where the temporary target databases are saved?

Please help me.

Thanks in advance,

I had the answer... When we target as a "temporary database. After run the interface what it will look like "yellow interface. This yellow interface is the stote of temporary data. We can use this temporary database as 'the source table.

    Hi all

What is the difference between these two key configurations in the designer? Why the ODI is not recognizing the key specified on the target?

    Hello

You must create a PK by adding the constraint in your target "Data bank" (go to models-> your data store target-> expand it, right-click on the constraints-> new key and select your PK on the columns tab). Then, you can see the PK in the drop of the update key.

In addition, FLOW_CONTROL should be enabled if you need to dispose of "error capture" mechanism (E$) etc., if not you can set to false.

  • Dell virtual disk are larger. You want to increase the size of the data store.

    Hello

I started the implementation of a server ESXi 5.5 Update 1 this week. I didn't know Dell shipped the server with two virtual disks instead of one. I realized this _apres_ that I had already created the data store and setup a few virtual machines to the breast. I called Dell who sent specific instructions to increase the removal of the second (empty) virtual disk and add it to the main. In the end, I increased the single VD from 2 TB to 3 TB and I want to give the remaining space in my store of data.

I tried to follow the article here that explains how to do this via the CLI.

Well, he did not altogether. Fortunately, I was able to recover my datastore my setting start and end sectors to their original numbers. But I'm still left with this almost 1 TB of space that I can not attribute to the data store. After that I reread storage adapters in the client, the new Dell disk size resulted under measurement devices. Click on "increase...". ", generates the following error which led me on the way to the CLI method:

Call "HostDatastoreSystem.QueryAvailableDisksForVmfs" to object "ha-datastoresystem" on ESXi '[myservername]' failed.

I will paste my notes that I took everything by jobs. Things have exploded the rails when I put 4 partition size to the largest size. Any help, please?

I use that as a guide:

1 use start hardware device management tools to increase the capacity of additional disk to the device. For more information, commit your hardware provider.

    Pretty simple.

6 identify the partitions that need to be resized and the size of the space to use.

We want to resize partition 4. I don't really understand the last part of this sentence, however. Read more.

7 the number of sector end you want for the target data store VMFS partitions. To use all out at the end of the disc space, remove 1 of the size of the disk in the areas as described in step 5 in order to get the last usable area.

ESXi 5.x has a command to do this:

    ~ # partedUtil getUsableSectors "/ vmfs/devices/disks/naa.6c81f660ef0d23001ad809071096d28a".

    1 5854986239

This means that we want 4 Partition of "naa.6c81f660ef0d23001ad809071096d28a" to be:

    13711360 - 5854986239 (i.e. the end of the disc)

8 resize the partition containing the target VMFS Datastore using the command partedUtil, specifying the original existing partition and the desired end sector:

Using the above information, our command is:

    resize # partedUtil ' / vmfs/devices/disks/naa.6c81f660ef0d23001ad809071096d28a ' 4 13711360 5854986239

9 step 8, the partedUtil command can report the warning:

    He did not. Displacement.

    10. the tables of partitions have been adjusted, but the VMFS data within the partition store is always the same size. Now there is an empty space in the partition where the VMFS data store can be grown.

11 launch this v vmkfstools command to perform a refresh for VMFS volumes.

    Fact.

12 reach the VMFS Datastore in the new space using the command - growfs vmkfstools, specifying the partition containing the VMFS Datastore target twice.

    vmkfstools - growfs ' / vmfs/devices/disks/naa.6c81f660ef0d23001ad809071096d28a:4 ' ' / vmfs/devices/disks/naa.6c81f660ef0d23001ad809071096d28a:4 '.

It did not work. I got an error:

Also the partition was very different to what I asked:

    4 13711360 1560018942 251 0

I fixed it by running these commands:

    ~ # partedUtil resize ' / vmfs/devices/disks/naa.6c81f660ef0d23001ad809071096d28a ' 4 13711360 3865468766

    4 13711360 3865468766 251 0

    Update:

Since it was such a new machine, not in active production, we have safeguarded the VMs management off the ESXi host. Then flattened the virtual disk, recreated, and then created a store of data with the right size. (TPG this time, naturally.) We put the management of virtual machines on the data store. For Windows virtual machines, we have restored the using AppAssure. Everything is ok now.

Need to add a new item to the list of punch: check what Dell has done the configuration of the virtual disks. :-)

  • ODI file data store

    Hi all

I have a confusion about the physical and logical length in the ODI file data store.

    I have a fixed-width file where a c2 col had datatype as string (30).

I've set this column in the data as string store > physical length 30 > logic length 30

My interface failed with error as '.

    ORA-12899: value too large for column 'S0_IDM '. «C$ _0S0_EAGLE_DWHCDC_CHRG_MST ".» "" "C2_CHARGE_DESC" (real: 31, maximum: 30).

When I increased the logical length to 255, the interface worked fine.

Being always the same 30 physical length.

    How different is it?

Any help on this will be appreciated.

    Thanks and greetings

    Reshma

This isn't the official documentation, but here's my point of view, after a few moments of reflection

Everything you do in the ODI Designer is inspired by the logical architecture. Only when running it manifested in a physical implementation i.e. connection strings are materialized etc. When you perform an integration ODI creates usually a few temporary tables prefixed with C$, I$ etc to be able to perform the necessary data movement and the transformations needed to, for example, to fill a data target (table) store. In your example, your flat file is materialized in such a temporary table before that its content is manipulated (or not) and loaded in the target data store. When ODI generates this code that he uses the logical length emitted in the DDL that generates temporary table column lengths, the physical column is ignored.

Now in your scenario is not a problem as constraints such as these do not matter to the physical file version knowledge if you were to write to the file, that it would not matter if you wrote return 255 characters or 31. This could be a problem if you were using database tables and varying the logical vs physical lengths but generally you reverse engineer tables from database using ODI rather than manually doing so makes better.

Anyway, in short, I think that the logical lengths should be taken as representative which will manifest itself in the materialization of the temporary objects used to manged / transform the data from the source models (tables$ CAN) and target (I have tables$) while the physical lengths indicate what the underlying physical representation of these models are in reality.

EDIT: after reading some logical documentation actually represents the length while physics is related the number of bytes required to store the data. Therefore, you could have a situation with multibyte characters where the physical length could be greater than the logical length but not really the other way around.

  • Clone the virtual machine to the local data store

    Hi all

I'm looking to automate a task daily (or almost) of my friends with a small script with powercli.

I'm trying to "backup" or to clone a virtual machine, I work in a storage of one of our servers.

The servers are managed by a 5.1 vCenter and the machine is on a shared storage.

From time to time, I clean, stop the machine, remove all snapshots and clone the virtual machine to one of the local server as a backup storage. So I put together a small script which almost works. It works as long as the target data store is a shared storage, but not with a local storage.

I get always an error that claims it can not access the local data store and is not a permissions problem...

Given that I can accomplish this via the customer without problem I thought it is possible via powercli too, or I'm wrong?

  • Mappings of data store for replication Multi VM in SRM 6.1

In an earlier version of MRS. datastore mapping was necessary if someone wants to replicate several virtual machines of VR. But how to do this in 6.1 SRM?

VR is a replication solution that does not require "datastore mapping" just VM source and target data store.  Just several virtual machines with RV replication requires selecting the same target for all that are selected at the same time data store. This does not change 6.1 RVing and SRM has no impact on this.

  • Full SRM data store

    Hello

Among the stores of data that we are replicating VMs is full. Can you be it someone please let me know the process to free up space?

We are at version 5.1, all areas.

SRM 5.1 with replication of vSphere.

    Thank you, s

    Peter.

    Hello

Integration of VR with DTS on the target site is on the roadmap for future versions.

With the versions currently, including 5.1, you can reconfigure the replication (s) in another data target store, however, this internal stop old replication, delete all the files in the replica in the target data store and configure new replication to the new location of the target.

It could be faster, if you:

    (1) take hard copy since the current target data store (without the hbr-... vmdk redo logs) to the new location.

    (2) stop the existing replication (s).

    (3) configure new replication and orient them on the already copied as initial seed discs.

This will happen again full-synchronization initial, but checksum is calculated on the disk blocks and that changes are transmitted over the network.

  • Snapshots and data store management

Hey, I'm pretty new so bear with me.

I inherited middle of about 50 guests (ESXi 5.0) and 900 VMs. I am looking for input as to how you manage all snapshots and space they use. I am using NetBackup.

I had a VM down due to one of the three warehouses of data that it is filling. I have two warehouses of 2 TB. Data warehouses are completely implemented in this virtual Windows machine. So, there are only a few GB free after commissioning. The obvious problem is when a snapshot is taken for backups, fills store data and the virtual machine is paused. I see that I can force ESXi 5 invited to use the working directory for the virtual computer, but what happens if I want to redirect shots elsewhere?

How will you manage all this question if you do not see it?

Welcome to the VMware forums communities.

You can use the following steps to change the location of the snapshot for a VM - kb.vmware.com/kb/2007563.

An alternative to the deployment of a data store that is pretty well filled by a single virtual machine is to use a raw device mapping (RDM).  With a RDM virtual machine is assigned all of the LUNS, rather than using a VMDK and the data store.  This avoid the situation where you have data stores that are pretty well filled right up.

You can create a RDM in physical or virtual mode.  In your case a virtual RDM would be probably the best which provides instant support.   A physical RDM has more direct access to the LUN, but the snapshots are not supported.  A physical RDM can have up to 64 TB of size, and a virtual RDM is limited to 2 TB.

  • How to put a CustomField on a data store?

    Hi all

    I tried:

    but no luck.

    I also note:

    $myDS = get-myDS data store

    There is a field called:

    "CustomValue.

How to fill this extensiondata. CustomValue field?

Even if I can't put a customfield via whole-customfield, is there a solution or a hack to store a value for a data store?

    concerning

    marc0

I'm afraid that the New-CustomField and New-CustomAttribute in the current construction of PowerCLI don't support data warehouses.

But you can use the CustomFieldManager to manage the fields custom data warehouses.

    First get the CustomFieldManager object.

    $cfMgr = get-view customfieldsmanager

To create a new field, you can make

    $cfMgr.AddCustomFieldDef ("Test", "Datastore", $null, $null)

This method returns the CustomField object. It is important to store this somewhere, because you will need the Key property in the following methods.

You can also get this key by enumerating the fields available for any data store

    PS C:\ > $ds = Get - Datastore - name MyDS

    PS C:\ > $ds. ExtensionData.AvailableField

    Key: 591
    Name: Test
    Type: string
    ManagedObjectType: data store
    FieldDefPrivileges:
    FieldInstancePrivileges:
    DynamicType:

To assign a value to the new field

    $cfMgr.SetField($ds.) Extensiondata.MoRef, 591, "A value") "

To retrieve the value of the custom field

    $ds. ExtensionData.CustomValue | where {$_.} Key - eq 591}

    DynamicType DynamicProperty key value
    -----                                          --- -----------              ---------------
    A value                                        591

Note that these custom fields of the data store are not visible in the vSphere client!

Unfortunately, when I delete a data source store, all joins/filters involving this data store disappear.

This will happen if your join filter/condition is specified only on 2 tables and 1 of them is deleted.

  • Where "gross verification data bank?

    Hi all

As the explanation in the administration and the Guide of the listener: "avctl refresh_warehouse" command can update the data warehouse for the raw data of audit store repository.
My first question is: where is the data store raw audit? in each source database or in the database of the server audit? Second: the collector works if and only if the update has been executed?

    Thank you!

In the Vault of Audit Server infrastructure, there are a number of objects that are used to store audit data sources data. The Agent/collector continuously extracted and sends the audit of source database data in the Audit Vault repository. A table that stores the 'brute' audit data is av$ rads_flat that should never be outsourced or not, changed or manipulated by anyone.

Out of the box, a task runs every 24 hours to transform or normalize the raw check data in the structure of the warehouse which reports are run against. Warehouse tables are published in the documentation of the Audit Vault of the Auditor in which you can run your own report or another plsql to analyse audit data.

What do you do with the audit raw data?

In the case where one of the ESXi hosts running VM1 lost access to Datastore1 that hosts VM1, HA the hang and restart this computer on the other host?

If this isn't the case, it will be when the virtual machine monitoring is enabled? and if we have more than 10 guests, how does know where the relative data store is still active, I mean on what host?

    Kind regards

Monitoring of virtual machine will restart a virtual machine if HA detects more VMtools beating heart, but also the network IO and storage to the virtual machine.

If a host loses access to a data store that HA is concerned this depends on which version of vSphere is used and how to access that is lost (ODA or PDL - see details here VMware KB: loss of the device (PDL) Permanent and All - paths - Down (APD) in vSphere 5.x ).  If running vSphere 6, HA now has a feature (VM component Protection) which will restart all virtual machines affected by ODA or PDL on a host that is not affected. If using earlier versions of vSphere even with VM followed the active user intervention will be necessary since VM monitoring only restarts the virtual machine (and not on a new host) (vSphere5.1 storage improvements & #8211;) Part 4: All roads down (APD).
