Where is my windows media player?

I have a computer built house running Windows 7 pro 64-bit. I have a M:\ Disc 1 TB for all my music and sound effects. When I go to computer and do a right click and left click on properties tells me that I have 107 GB of music files there. I don't have a Windows Media Player anywhere on my computer. I did the thing that checks the boxes to turn on Windows Media Player and restarted the computer, but still no windows media player icon. How can I recover my icon and get the music files on my drive M:\. Thank you.

Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Forum of the Microsoft community.

It seems that you tried to activate Windows Media Player in add it or remove the option features.

If this was done, Windows Media Player must be installed on the computer and what we may be missing here is the shortcut on the desktop.

Please click the Start button and type Windows Media Player, it should appear in a search result. Check if Windows Media Player is available.

If available, please click on icon and click on send to: Desktop.

If you do not see Windows Media Player here, please come back to add or remove components and make sure Windows Media Player is checked.

Hope this information was useful. Just reply with the results and if you need help or have any other questions about Windows, we're here to help.

    C00D1198

I had the same problem over and over again with my Windows Media Player. He is not consistent, but it happens several times a day. When you try to listen to music on the net, I am having problems and receive an error code that reads C00D1198. I don't know what it means, and I would like to know how to avoid ever see that again. In addition, there were moments where I got Windows Media Player successfully, but after a while, the music would stop playing on its own.

    Hi Dazzlicious,

Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server that hosts the content you want to listen to. You may encounter this error message for the following reasons:

    1. The name of the server that hosts the content is not valid. If you typed an address Uniform Resource Locator (URL) in the Open URL dialog box, verify that the file name is spelled correctly and that the path to the file is correct, and then try again. If you clicked a link on a Web page, the link isn't valid.
    2. The server is not available (for example, the server is busy or not online). Try again later.
    3. For Windows Media Player proxy server settings are not configured correctly. Verify that your proxy server settings are correct.

Follow the steps in the article below to check your proxy server settings

  • Error: "file 9xmigrat.dll on (unknown) is needed type the path where the file is located, and then click ok" when you try to install Windows Media Player 9.

    original title: WMP9 re-setup

Hello. I use XP SP3 with all post-SP3 updates critical. Windows Media Player 9 does not work. When I try to reinstall, I'm stuck: the 9xmigrat.dll of file on (unknown) you need to type the path where the file is located and then click ok. I like WMP9 and do not want to use a newer version of WMP. I was not able to find 9xmigrat.dll

This happens when I try installing to wmp.inf.

If I try to install the MPSetupXP.exe, it does not either.

    Any ideas? TIA

Thank you, David. It seems that the problem was caused by incorporating the updates for WMP9 using nLite. I made another CD of installation excluding these updates. A clean install of XP SP3 and WMP9 is working. Thank you for your response.

  • Where can I find my total number of song in Windows Media Player?

    Changed title: Windows Media Player?

Should be a simple one, in WMP where can I find my total number of song?

    Hello

You can read the following steps.

    (a) to be able to see the total number of songs or titles in your library, go to the view library.

    (b) highlight the titles using "select all" or "Ctrl + A' and then click on and drag until the column of the playlist on the right.
This will create an as of yet unregistered playlist and start playing the first song.

    (c) click on stop and you will notice that the total number of tracks in the playlist will be displayed.

    I hope this helps.
