  Two things... (1)

• Question on the definition of the width of column in SQL * more with information recovered w SQL

  Is there a way to tell SQL * more to set the width of a column with the largest width of the items in the column? (as opposed to the default which is declared in the DDL width)
  
  In other words, I would like to do something functionally equivalent to this:
  
  COL < columname > format [select max (length (< columnname >)) < thetablethatcontainscolumname >]
  
  I do above manually in two steps
  
  1. select max (length (columnname)) of...
  
  2 col columnname format a [resultofstep1]
  
  Is it possible to do in one step?

  Hi John

  I don't think that there is a way to do this, because this information is not known at run time (as you proved it, you must run a separate SQL query first to calculate that information - also, what happens if there are predicates, this could affect the defined result so the request will actually be performed twice). You may decide an arbitrary width for each column and set it as being wrapped/word_wrapped/truncated.

  Other that that, you should consider whther you are using the right tool for the job, SQLplus is not exactly ideal for the presentation layer stuff. Something like APEX would give you much more control over the layout and formatting.

• Drop-down menu in the table of cells - how to develop across the width of column?

  Hello!

  A customer migrate their 2 400 forms of old JetForms as PDF (LiveCycle Designer) and would like to keep the same functionality, so that it is used in the old platform. However, some of the old tool features do not seem to be present in LiveCycle.

  Suppose that a drop down menu in a table cell, containing the elements whose lengths are larger than the column of the table. In JetForm, when you open the drop-down menu that spans the columns to display all of its content, do not cut the contents of the drop-down list.

  I tried this in LiveCycle, but the drop down menu gets cut and its content is limited to the column in the table (where the drop-down menu below) width.

  Is there a way to bypass this limitation, even if I use scripts?

• How to expand the width of column padding

  1 have a brochure of 8.5 x 11 with 3 columns.  can not find a way to expand the space inside the column margins.  not sure if I describe it exactly like I do not know the name of the space, I'm expanding. in the image below, it is the empty space between the purple lines.  I thought that might be the gutter, but when I change the numbers on it, nothing happens.

  

  You'll want to change the value while working on the Master Page. And there are a few caveats.

  First, if you have used a block of text type, it has been created as a framework of several column and used the value of gutter, you started with that. The gutter in a span of several column will not change when you change values in column guide. The good news is that if you used a master image, you can enable layout adjustment (layout > setting layout...) and return to the master page, select main text blocks and adjust the value of the gutter in the Options of text block or in the control panel and it will update the pages in a document :

  

  If you do not use a Master frame, the page layout setting should set individual images as sanp to the column guides (but you must activate the page layout setting before setting the gutter), but will not affect executives multi-column. If your existing images have an object Style, you can modify it and change the gutter, otherwise it is a manual procedure to select managers and change the value of Strawberry as above or assign a style object that has the right options (faster). If you have a recent version of ID, you can use find/change object to find blocks of text with your number of columns and the existing gutters and change wattage you need.

  The outlines of the blue block appear when I copy my simple vector illustration and paste it into InDesign. I tried to, but I'm losing a lot of detail. How can I get rid of the frames?

  You see the edges when you deselect the option? It seems that yoou see the bounding box, which will be for each object.

  And you don't lose detail when plaicng an file, even if your preiew cannot show it. are you affect the performance of high quality display? the default setting is typical, which is a proxy low resolution.

• How can I keep the width of the columns (1) and (2) a header when you replace a table?

  I am trying to format a series of paintings using simple Excel files and two columns that look like this:

  

  I have already created a table style, but I find myself relating to two additional steps each time I replace the existing data with a new Excel file:

  Challenge #1: Manually set the width of each column to 3 inches.

  Challenge #2: Manually convert the top row a header.

  Each of these tasks only takes a few seconds to set up, but I'll have to make hundreds of them and the time adds up. Here's my existing workflow:

  1. Select the existing table, properly formatted.

  

  2 file > Place... (Replace the item selected and The show Import Options checked)

  

  3. import in an unformatted Table using the custom Table Style 1 created for this document.

  

  Note: Once fell, the width of the previous columns is lost and there is no identified header:

  

  4. I manually adjust the width of the columns to 3 inches.

  

  5. Finally, I converted the top row a header.

  

  Result is a perfectly formatted table, exactly 6 inches wide, each column taking up half the width.

  

  Ideas to keep the width of column after replacing the Excel file and/or fit automatically in the top row, as a header would be greatly appreciated!

  Something like this should do the trick. Copy the script in a text editor, save with the extension .jsx and put in your folder of InDesign scripting. If you do this a lot, it would be useful to assign a shortcut to the script key.

  To use, place your cursor in a table cell, or select a cell or a line and run the script.

  I do not know where to install the agents for this architecture:
  -on server 1?
  or
  -on 3 or 4 (source systems) servers
  or
  -the Server 5 (target system)

  It is best to install the agent as close to the target as possible. So, in your case, it will be on Server 5.
  In addition, since you don't have only one target, then you have the advantage that you can install only one officer and it works.
  Just keep in mind, that during the installation of the agent on the Server 5
  Server2 and server4 serveur3 must be visible to Server 5.

  To further explain the above statement,
  We have Filesystems FS1, FS2, on which the source files are located.
  And the agent is on ORADB1 that is the target Oracle DB. FS1 and FS2 file systems are visible to the system on which ORADB1 is installed and that is why the agent on ORADB1 can also see file systems and so access the files for processing.

  I need to increase the width of column default name in Windows Explorer for every file I opened displays more information. The current default width is currently 200 pixels - way too small for my needs and windows don't do not forget to mount the columns when I select a file later.

  You can increase the width of the selected columns and apply the settings to all files and check.

  1. right click on an empty space in windows explore, click Sort by.

  2. now enter the required in the Pixel size with and click OK.

  Now click on the drop down menu to organize and click on folder and Search Options.

  Click view and click on apply to folders, click OK and check.
