  You can help solve some computer problems and improve the performance of your computer by making sure that your hard disk has no errors.

  1. Open the computer by clicking on the button start , and then clicking computer.

  2. Right click on the hard drive you want to check, and then click Properties.

  3. Click on the Tools tab and then, under error-checking, click check now. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

     To automatically repair problems with files and folders that the scan detects, select automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the disk check will simply report a problem, but not to fix them.

     To perform a full disk check, select search and attempt to recover bad sectors. This scan is trying to find and repair physical errors on the hard drive itself, and it may take much longer to complete.

     To check for errors file and the physical errors, select both automatically fix errors in file system and search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

  4. Click Start.

  Depending on the size of your hard disk, this may take several minutes. For best results, do not use your computer for any other tasks while it checks errors.

  Use disk cloning software.

  The safest way is to use an external hard drive enclosure to maintain the new disc during the cloning operation.  These come with interfaces USB or e-SATA to IDE or SATA interfaces for the drive and the computer.  Be sure to get the correct type.  If you have an available internal drive Bay, you can put the new drive it for the cloning operation, but do NOT restart with two connected drives.  After everything was settled down, you can mount the old disk of 60 GB inside, format and use it for storage of backup.

  Cloning (copy to disc) software may have been bundled with your new drive or may be accessed free of charge from the manufacturer of the new command.

  Depends on if you have followed the instructions, immediately after the migration/clone that you will need to shut down the pc, replace the old disk with the new (leave the old disconnected) then restart.   Hmmm...   Never tried, but I "think" it should work.   The reader will need to named exactly something on the new computer, as it was on the old.

  DevPixelsPerPx is - 1.0 by default, which causes Firefox to scale with the parameter of the BONE, which is perfectly fine. Formatted as MBR would require the drive to use with a minimum of two partitions. Formatted as GPT would require only a single partition. In no case will you be able to use the 3 TB as a boot device drive because your computer does not support a UEFI BIOS that allows booting from a GPT formatted disk. No changes or updated should be held.

I am in crisis mode because I recently became sick and my photos and documents is vital for my next year of chemotherapy and radiation. Please advice are extremely appreciated. Thank you

  It's the normal advice I'd give to record data; but we have no idea of the State of your hard drive.

  Saving your files:

  You can remove the hard drive and put it in a hard drive USB enclosure > plug it into another computer > and try to read and copy your data in this way.

  Or, you can download Knoppix > make a bootdisk to > start your system with it (IF your material is all work) > and copy your data from the hard drive like that.
