• Why After Effects is changing my film files?

  Try the following steps.

  Go to MAC HD or boot drive/library/Application Support/Adobe/common/Plugins/7.0/MediaCore.

  If it's that found nothing in MediaCore move it to desktop (for backup) and make this empty folder. Check Media Encoder once done.

  If this does not help, try the following steps.

  Please try to rename the files of Adobe at the following in old_Adobe location

  Navigate to the Documents folder and rename

  Go to User\Username\Library\Application support\Adobe

• After Effects behind with just 14 seconds of clips

  Initially, I shot a lot of video with a Canon Vixia HF G30 in AVCHD. When I realized that Mac cannot read this format correctly, I used handbrake to convert them to MP4 using the H.264 codec. I am all videos stored on an external hard drive of 1 TB and dragging into a folder on my desktop when I need them. I imported 2 clips in my composition in After Effects totally 14 seconds of video. I can't do anything in AE. I try to slide the clip in position and moves it to a very small amount and then crashes. I have a MacBook Pro with 8 GB of RAM, 6 GB of which dedicate themselves to After Effects.

  I have worked with After Effects several times but never had that bad of a problem with such a tiny amount of sequences. I think that perhaps it would be too big of a file of suggestions on how to convert it into a smaller file without loss of quality would be very useful. Thank you very much.

  Ah. Found your problem! You misunderstand how to use After Effects! AE is not a real-time editing application. It is a composer based on pixels.   Because you didn't know how to do something as simple as the preview, I'll suggest to take a big step back and start here: starting After Effects

  There are probably a TON of useful stuff you need to know that you have missed.

  There is no solution. CS4 is 32-bit edition of After Effects, WIndows XP is a 32 bit OS (except if you're running 64-bit), and a 32-bit windows process will only see the eligible amount of maxiumum of RAM (2 GB or 3 GB with the active switch). If you were to run CS5 (64 bit app) on a 64-bit operating system, you could make the most of your available RAM memory.

  I'm not sure what you're saying. Are you saying that when you return leave After effects audio sounds bad, but the audio file that was in your composition sounds not so bad when you play in other applications?

  You're not tell us what looks like your original audio file or what are your rendering in After Effects settings, so we don't have a lot of information that we might need.

  If your original audio is an MP3 file, try transcoding to a WAV and use in AE. Make an uncompressed file to AE, then use Adobe Media Encoder to make your folder of final delivery. It is in any case the correct workflow. AE should not be used to make your final compressed version.

• Is After Effects CS5.5 only PowerPC? (Installation problem)

  I just installed Adobe Creative Suite Production Premium 5.5 on a new (2012) Mac Mini (Intel Core i7 processor) running OS X Lion mountain 10.8.2.  Most of the applications installed correctly, but After Effects CS5.5 gives me the following error when I try to launch:

  Cannot open the application "Adobe After Effects CS5.5" because the PowerPC applications are no longer supported.

  I tried to uninstall and reinstall the app (with Flash Catalyst, which also fails), but the error remains. What is the problem here? Is it an installation problem or After Effects CS5.5 is really not compatible with my new hardware/operating system?  Any suggestion is appreciated.

  OK, answered my own question.  I was installing on a Mac Mini, which does not have an optical drive, so I used a remote optical drive to install on my network.  It turns out that confuses the installer.  I finished copying the DVD to install it on a flash drive and the installation of one.  Problem disappeared.

  I think you fail to understand what is said. When you add one composition to another, add a composition with a red background for a composition with a blue background, red background goes away and the blue background is preserved, not vice versa. Select the transparency grid and you will see the blue background disappears and you see the transparency. It has always been this way since you were able to select a color background in AE there nearly 20 years.

  When you render a lossless without alpha format and the color is defined prior multiplied (red in your example) background color is multiplied with the alpha pre giving you a red background in your render lossless. If you add your Main Comp to the TEA and you have no option for pre multiply the alpha channel, so it is ignored and you end up with a black background. If you change the output settings in the SOUL to something like JPEG 2000 and 32-bit or 32-bit PNG, you will get a straight alpha channel, the industry standard, and a black background. If you choose a codec which does not support alpha channels, you get just a black background.

  I guess what I'm trying to say is that everything works exactly as it was designed to work, and the only reason why you found the red background of your comps background color when you return a lossless with alpha multiplied pre, is that the background color is meadow multiplied with the bottom. In a normal production pipeline it is assumed you want to preserve the transparency throughout the production process. Multiplying the background color is useful in a scenario very little. More than 40 years the realization of films and creating special effects and composites (yes I did in a lab with the movie) I have never used an alpha pre multiplied with a background colored except in a situation of class in order to demonstrate that it is. Here's how you can see with a multiplied pre alpha is. :

  Rotate your model nested 30º in order to have some aliasing then try rendering your comp with the lossless with alpha preset and keep premultiplied lit for the alpha channel. Look carefully at the embattled edges and you will see a red mixed in on the edges. You can also use the lossless and then restore an alpha only, together the alpha only made as matte to make without loss and you will see the Red edges once again. Use straight alpha and the edges disappear. Here is this that rendered Lossless with alpha and multiplied pre gives you.

  

  So, assuming you still want to maintain complete transparency in the production pipeline that everything works as it should with one exception, the settings default lossless with alpha should probably be for default rendering right alpha then people who are not familiar with the use of alpha channels and a standard production pipeline would not be caught. As I said in the first place, this isn't a bug, it is normal for a production pipeline. Do not understand how AE or any other composition app handles alpha channels, that's what attracted to you. If you want a background color, add a solid. The only reason forever the background color of a black everything except model value is for those rare occasions where you might want to throw some color in the alpha edges.

  I just discovered that there is a plugin that comes with AfterEffects CC called "Mocha", it's a track quite powerful tool of creation. And... it can be used to create masks which SpeedGrade can then rank, even masks of caterpillars that currently Sg may be uneven with.

  If I understand correctly the basic procedure is to create an adjustment in PrPro layer, then create a new computer with one more in Ae, create and apply a Mocha "form", including any order tracking, then going back to PrPro and through her link Direct to the Sg, and then we can rank a mask of sections of key that will work as expected. You cannot use the freebie Mocha plugin, you must buy the stand-alone for $95 or more, then use it to make a shape... and learn how to use this program as well.
