Why apps takes so much storage?

I recently bought a new macbook pro and updated OS X El Capitan, but when I checked my storage a few days later, he said that my apps were almost 75 GB. However, if you can see the picture here, I have 121 GB of storage and 85 GB of free, which means that I've used about 35 GB. How can I fix this and why what is happening?

If the number is not supposed to you based on the applications that you have installed (and it is high compared to the 20 GB of applications I have) you might try to rebuild the index by using the following instructions: Spotlight: how to re - index folders or volumes - Apple Support

  • Why lightroom takes as much HARD drive space?

    Hi guys.

I am currently using the trial of Lightroom CC, really interested in buying, but one thing really bothers me.

I left on my Macbook 10 GB of storage. After you import all my RAW files that are stored on a disk of 1 TB external HARD, my Macbook internal storage has dropped to 8GB.

I was under the impression that Lightroom does not copy the pictures in its library, but references the original files on the external HARD drive.

What would be the reason why take so much space?

My Macbook's internal storage is very limited, so I have to rely on external hard drives, so this is a dealbreaker for me.

    Thank you

    Hi stuontour

The best thing to do in such a situation would be to keep the catalog and images on the external hard drive.

    How do mentioned below-

    • Open Lightroom
    • Click file - new catalogue
    • Now create a new catalog on the external hard drive and click ok
    • Lightroom opens now with this new catalogue
    • Click Import, and then use the Add option to import images

In this way, you can keep all the data on the external hard drive, but ultimately you need to increase your HARD drive you can install plugins or applications of presets.

What should I do to remove this excessive storage? Should I delete the App and reload?

I have macbook air 128 GB, he said here, my apps are up to 109 GB of storage, but then it tells me that I have 87 GB of free storage. If my apps takes GB 109, then I should not have like less than 20 GB of free space, so he says I 87,65 GB of free storage on the left?

And why my apps takes so much space? I have vlc, spotify, google reader, a few apps printer and ms office and pre - install apps. So I really don't understand, how can it space to the top storage?

  • Why the system takes so much hard drive space (about 110 GB)?

How can I reduce it. I can't imagine why it takes so much space. does anyone have an idea?

    System: T400, bussiness Vista 32

    Hi Halloechen_Wei,

Probably of rescue and recovery made a bunch of backups that are too much space. I don't remember exactly what we call the option, but if you start the Rescue and Recovery program, there's a way to 'recover space' or something like that. Essentially, you can remove some of the backups to recover the part of hard disk space.

    Good luck

  • How can I get rid of those dumb icons on my menu bar. they are not useful and that they take too much space. Why did you do this?

I just upgraded to the new version of firefox. for some inexplicable reason, you have added icons to the left of my choice of personal menu in the menu bar. These icons are purely decorative, they take too much space, and now I can't view all clickable elements in the menu bar. extremely irritating. • Photo library take too much space even with active iCloud

I am paying to iCloud and I have hundreds of GB available, yet my iPhone 5 c is constantly telling me I'll have storage problems, mainly caused by the photo library, containing several GB.  I have iCloud library enabled, as well as the option 'optimize iPhone storage '.  Photos latest have already transferred in my library, so I know that photos download correctly and not late, but why the library still takes so much space?

    Because it is.

If you have used all available space on your phone, you need to remove some content on the phone.

The setting "Optimize phone Storage" is not magic. Your phone still has a finite amount of space. It may be that pictures should be removed, but it will be something.

Check the settings > general? Use storage & icloud. Look what's too much your space.

    Hello

No other way in addition to the storage option optimize. The next 'solution' would only be delete photos.

  • A query that takes too much time with the dates?

    Hello people,
I'm trying to pull some data using the status date, and for somereason its taking too long to return the data
and trunc(al.activity_date) = TRUNC (SYSDATE, 'DD') - 1     --If i use this its takes too much time

      and al.activity_date >= to_date('20101123 000000', 'YYYYMMDD HH24MISS')
and al.activity_date <= to_date('20101123 235959', 'YYYYMMDD HH24MISS') -- If i use this it returns the data in a second. why is that?

How do i get the previous day without using the hardcoded to_date('20101123 000000', 'YYYYMMDD HH24MISS'), if i need to retrieve it faster??

It seems that al.activity_date is indexed and is not TRUNC (al.activity_date). Your problem is not with the TRUNC(sysdate,'dd')-1. So use:

    and al.activity_date >= TRUNC(SYSDATE)-1
    and al.activity_date < TRUNC(SYSDATE)

While appearing more precisely this question is in fact not.

  • How much storage SSD drive iMac molten?

    Hi all

I am considering buying an iMac to replace my old MacBook Pro, and I was planning on getting to the fuser unit.  However, I discovered that in October 2015, Apple has downgraded the SSD in the 1 TB Fusion road for 128 GB to 24 GB iMac.

    So my question is twofold:

    (1) is the Fusion Drive 1 TB iMac has always only 24 GB of storage in the SSD?

    (2) what is the SSD in the Fusion Drive 2 TB iMac?

I tried Googling for any new information, but what I find is October 2015, and Apple just says that people who buy the iMac 1 TB or 2 TB drive of Fusion can upgrade their SSDS up to 256 GB, without saying what is included by default.

    Thank you very much!

    Rachel

See quote below. (This is from the link "how much storage is right for you?" in the section of storage on the following page: http://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/imac?product=MK142LL/A & step = config )

Merge to disk 1 pairs of a hard disk of 1 TB with 24 GB of quick flash - enough to store files of OS X and applications in order to ensure a quick start, near wake instant sleep and quick application launch, with room remains for the most frequently used files and important applications. 2 to and 3 to pair of Fusion results in a hard drive more than 128GB of quick flash storage, offering even more space for your most frequently from the files used. For best performance, systems iMac with 32 GB of memory must be configured with a 2 to big merger or any flash storage.
