Why can't I delete a unwanted user account?

In the process of setting up a new MacBook Pro today I read in the Apple Support that Apple recommends to make an account of type 'standard' in addition to my admin account for increased security.  I did, but changes his mind after deciding that it was an exaggeration to security because I work at home.

After finding instructions for the deletion of an account, I clicked the lock and the sign of "delete" under the list of users, then loaded Sys Prefs 'remove' account (no disk image, etc.), which did not contain anything. The grey account name and "deleting account...". "appeared below.  However, the message is still there (45 min. later) and I can't get Sys Prefs, apparently because he thinks that it is still deleting the unwanted account, which he does not seem to have done, since I can always access by choosing the fast user switching and entering the password.

How OS X to finish deleting the account and let me out Sys Prefs?  Thank you!

If you can not stop via the Apple Menu system preferences Forse, shut down the Mac, reboot and try again.

A user account is one that you created in the Setup Wizard when you have got a Mac. The second he the user account you migrated your PC. If you used the same username for both, then you can simply copy the files from one to the other. If the user names are different, then see: transfer of files from one user to another account.

  • Why can't I rename a certain user folder?

I bought this computer by a previous owner.  And his name still be on this folder of the user.  When I right click on the file to rename, Rename option is not displayed.  (Content in this folder are all my personal files). I am registered as an administrator and the single user account is the only one with my name.  Also, my computer name is listed under my name. Can someone please help me understand why Windows Vista won't let me not rename this user folder?  Thank you.

    Hello

You cannot rename the user folder because you have already connected (only administrator account) and the account is currently in use.

    This is normal.

  • Why can't I delete a document profile in CS6?

I created a document profile and saved it in the appropriate folder:

    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings\en_US\x64\New Document profiles

Then, I needed to remove it, but it comes back. I deleted the file (even from the trash), deleted my preferences and rebooted the machine. But when I run Illustrator, as soon as I press Ctrl + N or click file/new, profile gets automatically recreated in the new Document Profiles folder and appears in the drop-down list of the dialog box new file.

A search of the drive hard watch the file does not exist, and yes I am display files and hidden folders. So, I don't know where it comes from.

This isn't just an annoyance. I record the screen, and the drop-down list should be clean. I hope that there is an easier way to solve this only to reinstall the suite. I have not tried to remove the folder... \en_US\x64.

Yes, this could be the case, if the custom profile has been saved in the folder of the application. On windows for CS5, this is C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Support Files\Required\New Document Profiles\en_US

Although this isn't the default location and the search for the custom profile file must have found but it good to double check. Also delete the folder of the user, on restart Illustrator will recreate the profiles in the user account by using the files in the application

Once a week a few posters noted a problem similar to yours. In this case, I post the answer you see below. The little that I find very irritating that in each case, without exception, the poster was not able to return and account for the results, either because they found my recipe too difficult to follow, or because he or she lost interest, he or she could not be bothered to post a few comments for the benefit of other people with the same problem. There it is again...

I do not know why you can not change this password, but maybe this method will shed light on the question:

    1. Safe boot mode.
    2. Click Start.
    3. Type the three letters cmd into the search box.
    4. Press Ctrl + Shift + Enter
    5. Click on "Run as Administrator".
    6. Type the following commands and press ENTER after each one:
'John Doe' ppp NET user / add
(to create an account called "John Doe" with the ppp password)
      net localgroup administrators/add "John Doe"
(to promote "John Doe" to the Administrators group)
      net localgroup administrators/del 'John Doe'

  • Prevent deletion of administrator user accounts

    Hello

My name is Muhammad Hasan Ahmed and I use Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2. I need assistance to manage the user accounts on my desktop computer. I submitted my request to a representative of Microsoft Live Chat, but she did not have enough technical information on the subject to be able to help me in this matter.

    Here's the question:

I have 2 Administrator accounts on my computer. First story is mine, and the second account (called HOME) is for users. I use an account is protected by password. HOME account doesn't have a password. I want to keep the account of the HOUSE to delete user accounts, either this is a limited account or an administrator account. HOSPITALITY account requires administrator rights so it can't be limited account. Is there another way to do this without changing the type of limited user account? What could be the possible measures to perform this task?

    Hello

The files should still be there if you can log in with an account Admin look in C:\Users
(Where C: is the drive where user profiles are what is C: by default).

You can try to fix it with Safe Mode - repeatedly press F8 as you bootup. Also the ADMINISTRATOR account of
Safe mode has no password by default unless someone has changed.

    Other methods:

Use the hidden administrator account to lower your user account (to the lowest level) APPLY/OK then go back
and reset it to the Admin APPLY/OK - this clearly allows corruption. Do this several times. Do the same for others
accounts that may be difficult. If necessary you can also reset your password in the accounts.
Do not forget to leave your Admin account and the other to the desired level.

Make another Admin account with your password and use it to fix the others if necessary. (just for
repair, don't use regular account, not a safety valve) always keep a spare ADMIN account.

DO NOT LEAVE THE ENABLED LSA OR USE DAILY. If it corrupts you are toast!

If you cannot access your old account, you can still use an Admin to migrate to another (do not forget to always
not that an Admin account that is not used except for testing and difficulty).

  • deletion of the user accounts on an iMac

I'm under El Capitan on an iMac that has now five separate user accounts.  I want to remove all the accounts and save the data in the accounts that I delete on an external drive, so that users will be able to save what they want.

What is the best method to do this?  Deletion of user accounts will affect "permissions" or other features that will create difficulties?

Should some difficulties if you back up data on a regular basis and that you are the admin user.

Take control of the laptop with a password protected administrator account. Create an account for your son. If he cracks then your password, which is very simple with the right software, completely take over the laptop.
