Why can't I do a search in my external hard drive using Adobe Bridge CS6?

When I open Adobe Bridge CS6 and try doing a search within my external hard drive, it will give my internal hardisk results only? This is the 1st time that I encounterd this strange issue. For this reason, I do my research with windows and then browse each result with bridge! which is really annoying.

I solved the problem go on the search field and clicking the search icon where he will give a drop-down list of the 3 options, and then selecting bridge search: current folder and that solved my problem. Thanks for all help

You can search for an external drive if the operating system permissions are OK.  Bridge, however, will not look on different drives.

  • How can I move media files & media players to external hard drive

    Three points:

    1. software (Real Player or any other) should generally not be on
external hard drives. It can cause problems. So you shouldn't do it.

2 move a program from one drive to another (external or not) is
difficult. This is because besides that the software itself, there is
usually many references to it and its location in | Windows, in the
Registry and elsewhere. Search and replace all of these references is
very hard. There is a software that is supposed to do, but in my
experience, none of this works perfectly. I recommend strongly against
    it.

    3. move media files is easy. You can move the files to a disk
to another exactly like you would move them from one folder to another.
There are several ways, but cut-and - paste and drag - move are the
may be simpler and more common. If you do not know how

  • can I import from the camera directly to external hard drive

I recently joined the mac world... before this I used a windows machine and will import directly on my SD card and my destination was my DHM. I did this strategically by date so that everything would be in order... I have my catalog related to my DHM and things were a lot until I started to import and also export it is said that they pictures cannot be read. However when I bind to the new computer, I used the DHM and LR found them without any problem. I thought that maybe my DHM has not been formatted for Mac and that could be the problem... I was wondering if anyone has any input on this subject. I spoke with someone at Adobe on a chat and screen sharing and they imported 400 + photos on my hard drive and said that I was not able to complete the process I described above. Noted that I had to import to HD and then proceed to SMT. Not sure why I would add another step when I could just import to SMT. So now I have 400 + pictures on one day in April which is very incorrect... I was disappointed with this Adobe chat person.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what is your problem, but I will try to answer. You can store your photos anywhere you want including an external hard drive. The key is when you import photos into lightroom, to 'say' where are the pictures. When you start the import process on the right side of the screen to import you set the destination for the import. You can set your internal hard drive or an external hard drive as your location as long as do you at the time of importation. If you choose an external hard drive, the pictures do not have to be placed on your internal drive at the beginning. In addition, your catalog of lightroom (record of changes, not the pictures themselves), can be stored on your internal HD or external HD.

  • Can I have macbook start up from my external hard drive instead of the internal HD of the laptop?

I use a macbook air 2014 model and would like to know if I can boot the mac from an external hard drive rather than the inside. The reason to do this is to save space on the laptop and updates can be installed directly on the external hard drive.

Is this possible? Forgive me, because I'm not that tech savvy. Thank you in advance!

Yes. Install or clone of Mac OS X on it and then select it in the pane of the system preferences Startup disk.

  • How can I change the icon associated with an external hard drive that is displayed in my computer

When I double click the icon my computer on my Seagate external desktop hard drive does not display the correct icon. It displays a blank page with the upper right handed with a superimposed replica of a small screen.  I really want to show an icon that looks like the real thing as stated in the icons folder.

    Hi PhilipRoebuck,

    (1) do you get an error message when you try to open the external hard drive?
    (2) where there are changes to the computer before the question?
    (3) is confined to a specific icon?

    See the following:
    Method 1:
    Icons change incorrectly in Windows
Important Before run you this difficulty, save your data and close the application. After you run the difficulty, your computer will reboot after 10 minutes.
Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • How can I change the icon associated with an external hard drive in XP?

I had to reformat etc and when settled dust that I can not put an icon on my external hard drive from seagate 1 t. It's not bad but it drives me crazy because it seems that it does not...

Using Notepad, create a file with the following content

    [autorun]
    ICON = localpath\iconfile

Save the file as autorun.inf (be sure to set "Save as type" in the drop-down list for "All Files" box).

    • IconFile is a file with the file extension ico icon.
    • LocalPath is the file (or folder and subfolder, etc.), without a drive designation.  So, for example, if there is a folder in the root of the named Seagate external drive, and you have an icon named seagate.ico file, the line in your autrorun.inf file would be:

    Icon = Seagate\seagate.ico

Note that the square brackets in the first line should be included
The autorun.inf file is usually a hidden, but making it so is yours.
