Why design patterns are more flexible?

I understand that a design model is less powerful than a project template and it allows to make global changes to text captions, buttons, etc., but I do NOT understand why you cannot change the properties of the button in the design template, add new pages or add all items that do not already exist.

What is the biggest advantage of using a model of design instead of a project template... I mean, why did I want the sentence to create one if I could simply apply a new project template instead?

Thank you.

Hi Rick, did you not type "Project Templates" by mistake, which means "Design Templates"? Personally, I use the word 'model' by the CP team is a bit confusing. Project templates are 'real' models, but design patterns are more play the function of a style sheet. Do you agree?

Have a nice weekend

  • database design patterns

    I would like to learn more on "database design patterns ', on the internet, I can't find good web page for this.
    It should describe what data models are performed all list and describe when to use them.

    CharlesRoos wrote:
    Design patterns traditional relational database transactional table is what I'm looking for.

    There is not really such a beast - or at least no I ran into when dealing with RDBMS designs. The approach that is usually used is a "high level data model" (often called an entity-relationship diagram). This DR. would then become the plan of action for the implementation of the physical database model.

    Also such patterns exist in the database. Simpler is so-called ' header and lines plan tables "which should explain to create 2 tables and link/join with next path and it can become such performance or other problems with this model and so on.

    This isn't really a model - is standardization and what is expected of relations in 3NF.

    Also, it is wrong to assume that a "+ header - and - line-tables +" exist purely for performance problems. In fact, it can actually be slower done as 2 separate table (using 3NF) more simple using only one table (2NF).

    I remember a design methodology called Tetrach (not sure of spelling) I have done a few courses in, in the 1980s. It deals with the prediction of the performance of the relational data models. Simply put - if you have an invoice that usually consists of a single header line and 20 lines of line, processing invoices will require an average of 21 St / s (logical or physical) by Bill. 2NF, it will take a single e/s - however, the data model and then imposes a limit of 20 lines per invoice (never forget the story on such a structure coding problems).

    However, if the system is I/O forcing then? You decide on a single i/o per invoice (by limiting the flexibility of the data model) or 21 St / s per invoice (and face the real possibility that the system may be impossible to successfully treat all invoices received in time for shipment orders)?

    Well, this isn't really that relevant more with modern equipment of today and storage systems - but it still illustrates to the point that performance alone is not the primary consideration for database designs.

    When to use patter 'create 2 separate identical tables to separate the same kind of business objects, for exmple GoodTeachersTable and BadTeachersTable' and explain why and when creating this model. And so on. There are 30 such techniques of model I guess than that. University teaches only that we have "one-to-many" - thing in the world, that I'm not interested.

    I think you're confusing models of object oriented with relational data modeling design. There is no "+ patterns +" in the data model relationship - with the exception of different normal is a get - with the fundamental objective of correctly normalizing the data model to 3NF as part of a proven recipe of a robust, functional and scalable data model design.

  • JPA DAO design pattern

    Hi all

    I have an abstract DAO class and extend each sessionbean DAO.

    Here is the code example.

    public abstract SuperDAO {}

    @PersistenceContext (unitName = "stars21db")
    Private EntityManager em;

    public getEM() {}

    return Ms;

    }
    }
    Here's the Session Bean DAO
    @Stateless
    @Local
    public class capdaosessionbeanbean extends SuperDAO implements {CapDaoSessionBeanLocal}
    public CapDaoSessionBeanBean() {}
    }

    public customer getCustomer() {}

    EntityManager em = this.getEM ();

    }
    }

    My question is more high-design pattern is the right way to get the entity manager.
    My idea is in the DAO we dn't have to put code injection of persistence context. and simply extend SuperDAO.
    Any suggestion?

  • What design pattern - the functionality of language change

    On my request, I will have a series of buttons to choose a language. When the user selects a language, all control labels, pop-up messages and other turns in the chosen language.

    I would like to do from a standpoint of OOP and use design patterns. That we recommend to use?

    My guess is the policy template. Am I wrong?

    Thanks for any comment or the link.

    The policy template is used to exchange algorithms dynamically. Based on user input, that a decision can be made to perform one or more functions (game of). This behavior is encapsulated in separate objects.

    You just want to Exchange data during execution. Or maybe set some behaviours about specific functions in languages like the currencies in the way which are managed, and the other measures. The latter would be applied as a reason for the shell.

    When it is simply data need changed/loaded during execution, it instead of a change to the model in the MVC design pattern, using an observer to notify all registered "headphones" and using a command to get the thing going.

  • I do not use sync and am not connected? Why my favorites are synchronization?

    My desktop computer has a series of bookmarks that I use at work. My home PC has another, different set of bookmarks that I use at home. I do not use sync and am not connected to sync on each PC. Why my favorites are the synchronization between two PCs? For example, I noticed several bookmarks near the top of my bookmark menu over a line of separation that I do not have to work. I deleted them. I come home and find those missing same bookmarks from my PC at home. I do not want to synchronize anything between the two computers, why what is happening?

    Maybe an add-on is the sync these for you.

  • Why my menus are not installed correctly?

    Thank you in advance for your help!

    I created this site in Muse and it's hosted on Business Catalyst to http://minezedge.BusinessCatalyst.com

    The "Home" page plays an Animation on board and there is a menu of Muse stock to the Center at the bottom of page.

    The problem I have is that I use the same Menu on 4 additional pages that are accessible in the menu in question..., but the position of 'menu' is much lower in the last 3 pages compared to the first page of "Photography".

    But in fashion design, they are all placed in the same position (approx.). What is the origin of the menu to display differently to publish on the last 3 pages?

    Thanks again!

    PC

    It seems to be a number of questions why the menu is on the move.

    The widgets Panel tabs do not appear to have the same size throughout the

    your site, which could push your menu down.

    It seems to be an additional object on your web page in the section, do

    a select all and you should see something appear just to the left

    of the menu. (if you make a selection all the when you view the page in a browser you)

    should see something highlight)

    The menu is above or below the footer?

    It's a bit intuitive counter to have your main menu

    at the bottom of a web page.  (the bottom of a web page is usually defined for footer not main navigation, most of the users are oriented in this direction)

    I suggest you put your main navigation at the top of the page.

    In addition, in your plan view, I put the pages side-by-side

    instead from under each other, this will set your menu

    items to display separately without having to mark

    the home page to navigate to another page. This will show

    your users exactly how many sections you have on your site.

  • Why is it updated more quickly remove them?

    I have a huge table L_CLAIMTEMP_RSMREPORTS. This package contains 9 million documents. I'm truncating and fill every day using sql * Loader.
    I'll just give you the sequence of steps I do, time and the number of rows affected.
    1 DELETION of table l_claimtemp_rsmreports - 4 million deleted rows - 45 min time taken, engage published
    2. switch to update the table l_claimtemp_rsmreports using the values of the other table - 5 million lines update-10 mins, Commit
    3 deletion of table l_claimtemp_rsmreports again based on certain conditions - 4 million lines deleted - 45 mins, commit issued

    Finally, the lines I need is 1 million. Then, I changed my procedure in this way:
    1. switch to update the ll_claimtemp_rsmreports table I-need, set a flag in rows of 5 million 'U' update-10 minutes of catch,
    2 update the l_claimtemp_rsmreports table that has the flag as 'U' by using the values in the other table - 5 million lines updates-10 mins, Commit
    3 put to update the table l_cliamtemp_rsmreports with indicator as long as the pavilion where 'X' = 'U' - 1 million rows updated - 5 minutes, engage

    Here I am to pick up the records in the table l_claimtemp_rsmreports of the pavilion where = 'X '.

    What I realized is much faster. But, I did not understand why. I had faced the problem earlier too. I can generalize update is faster than delete it?

    As a general rule, I would say an update is usually faster then a deletion.
    As it has been noted that an update should do less work then a deletion. But it depends largely how the update is done and how the structure of the table to delete.

    Here are some steps that the database will do when executing each command. These steps are not complete, but they contribute to make the image.

    Update
    -lock the record/block
    -run the front trigger for update statement
    -for each line, run the front row update trigger
    -check if there is a constraint (unique / cheque) column
    -change data
    -If the new value does not fit into the current block more add a new block for the table (chaining line). This often happens when you update a column value of 5 characters to 1000 characters
    -change/update all index on this column
    -for each row execute the trigger line after update
    -run the trigger for update statement after

    delete
    -lock the record/block
    -execute delete it before statement
    -for each line, run the front row update trigger
    -check if there is pointing to this table FKs
    -If the tables so a select on all the details to see if there are child records
    -According to FK delete the childs or generate an error message
    -Mark as deleted line. The space is freed for future pads according to pctfree and similar storage settings
    -change all indexes on this table
    -for each row execute the delete after start of line
    -execute delete them after outbreak of statement

    This isn't even including the cancellation information

    In general I think that most of the actions for a deletion are more expensive than for an update. Especially for an update on a column not indexed, where only 1 character is added or changed.

    However, very often the update/deletion is not the limiting factor, but select it happening before the update and who finds all rows that need to be changed.

  • Why 3 queries are generated during the execution of a report?

    Hi all

    I am in support of HIS production team. Currently, I am curious to know that why 3 requests are get generated in the Siebel analytic server log while I run a pivot report in response?

    Can someone explain it? Is there any problem with the DR. himself?

    Thank you
    Nathalie

    Usually, I had seen that it's expected behaviour. Your probably see a query for the table, one for totals (assuming that they are turned on) and one for the backbone. Basically, when the BI server may not run all in one statement, you see several instructions and a "stich" performed in memory, the idea is its shipping as much treatment as possible db - generally that it is more efficient to perform operations in memory on the server in OBIEE.
