Why do we file or drive to vote vote

Hi all

What is the need to vote folder or disk? I know that he has the information n node all the. But if the nodes can ping all other nodes what is the need of the voting disk.

Can you please explain.

PS: I read the

Oracle® database
Clusterware Oracle and Oracle Real Application Clusters
Deployment and administration guide
10g Release 2 (10.2)

But could not find how much it actually come into picture.

Thank you in anticipation

For example, a node 2 RAC - instance 'A' and 'B' instance

Lets assume that the bodies A & B instance is unable to communicate with each other. Now, this could be of the fact that the other instance is really down or because there is a problem with the communication of the interconnection between the instances.

A "split brain" occurs when bodies are unable to talk with others due to problem of communication of interconnection and each instance can think that it is the only case of survivor and start the update of the database. It is obviously problematic, isn't it?

To avoid half a brain, two bodies are required to update the drive to vote regularly.

Now consider the earlier judgment of the perspecive of one of the nodes:

case 1) instance B is actually down:-here, looking for the instance of A perspective; There is no communication on the interconnection with the instance B and also instance B is not to update the voting disk ('coz he is down). Instance A can assume that the instance B is low and it can go in providing services and update the database.

Case 2) the problem is with interconnection communication:-here, looking for the instance of A perspective; There is no communication on the interconnection with the B instance. However we can see this instance B is updating the drive to vote; which means instance B is not really down. This State is true view of the B instance; We can see that instance A updates the drive to vote but may not speak of A Forum on the interconnection. At this point, both rush and try to lock the drive to vote, and who gets the lock eject the other, thus avoiding "Split Brain" syndrome.

It is the underlying theory using a voting drive.

When instances of a RAC boot, one of the instances will be assigned the master. In the case of a "split brain" the captain Gets the lock on the drive to vote and survives. In reality the instance with the number of the lower node remains, even if the problem is with the map of internetwork on this node :)

See you soon.

    (1) why don't we not create an odd number of voting record?
With regard to the vote of the disks are concerned, a node must be able to access exclusively more than half of the discs with the right to vote at any time. So if you want to be able to tolerate a failure of n disks to vote, you must have at least 2n + 1 configured. (n = 1 means 3 discs with voting rights). To you can configure up to 32 disks with voting rights, to the providing protection against the 15 simultaneous disk failures.
Oracle recommends that customers use drives 3 or more with right to vote in Oracle RAC 10g Release 2. Note: For best availability, 3 files of voting should be separate physical disks. It is recommended to use an odd number as 4 drives will be more highly available than 3 disks, 3 1/2 is 1.5... rounded up to 2, 4 1/2 is 2, once we lose 2 discs, our cluster fails with 4 disks with voting rights or 3 discs with right to vote.

    (2) only the cluster checks actually for the counting of the votes before node eviction? If so, could you expain this process briefly?
Yes. If you lose half or more than all your discs with right to vote, then nodes get evicted from the cluster, or nodes to expel from the cluster.

    (3) what is the logic behind the documentaion note which says "each node must be able to see more than half the disks with right to vote at any time"?

  • Why do my files appear in all directories

Original title: Windows 7 backup file

I know I'm missing something, so I need some help, please. I have Windows 7 with Office 2007. When I open my directories there are 4: Documents, music, photos and videos. I tried to open a file in the Documents and I have seen the same document in the other directories and also listed under my Computer OS (C). Why do my files appear in all directories? Please advise me.

It may take some time for people to respond.

Directories such as the 'Documents', 'Music', 'Images' and 'Vidéo' are really (in the way which view you them from the menu of the Start button or office) "links" to the actual locations.

    • 'Documents' folder is in one place:
      %UserProfile%\Documents
    • Your "Music" folder is in one place:
      %UserProfile%\Music
    • Your "Pictures" folder is in one place:
      %UserProfile%\Pictures
    • Your 'Vidéo' folder is in one place:
      %UserProfile%\Videos

'%UserProfile%' is an environment variable which translates by (your computer translated for you when typed in / used) the path for the connected on the user profile directory.  By default, this would be C:\USERS\USERNAME.

Now - there are "Public" places in each of these users on the same computer could share things between them.  These places is...

    • %PUBLIC%\Documents
    • %PUBLIC%\Music
    • %PUBLIC%\Pictures
    • %PUBLIC%\Videos

The mention "PUBLIC %" is an environment variable which translates by (your computer translated for you when typed in / used) the path to the directory of the user PUBLIC profile.  By default, this would be C:\USERS\PUBLIC.

And if that's not enough for you - there is a way to be able to view each of these folders (your Documents and public acts, your music and music Public, etc.) in one accessible place - by using the feature of "libraries".

Even when viewed using libraries - however - the physical location is always singular.  If you put something in 'Documents', it is (by default) will '% USERPROFILE%\Documents' (C:\USERS\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\) and not the case elsewhere.  You should be able to see from the icon from your desktop to the 'Documents' or 'Documents' library, but they are just pointers/links/fancy shortcuts to the ACTUAL physical location on disk represented by '% USERPROFILE%\Documents' (C:\USERS\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\).

    Make sense?

Think more if it is not.  Here's the easy way:

Your stuff is on this drive here:

    • %UserProfile%\Documents (default: C:\USERS\YourUsername\Documents)
    • %UserProfile%\Music (default: C:\USERS\YourUsername\Music)
    • %UserProfile%\Pictures (default: C:\USERS\YourUsername\Pictures)
    • %UserProfile%\Videos (default: C:\USERS\YourUsername\Videos)

You can just get in these physical locations via different paths.  They all end up in the same end-location real.  You do not have many copies of the files.  (You have not more than one copy of this large video file that you created, UNLESS you make a copy.  "It is SIMPLY stored in %USERPROFILE%\Videos (C:\USERS\YourUsername\Videos).)

  • Why the SAN disks and drives NAS recognized differently by the computer?

    Hi all;

I'm a newbie in the sharing of storage.
Why the SAN disks and drives NAS recognized differently by the computer? Computer sees SAN disks as local drives, NAS drives as network drive, even if they are all connected to the computer by the same network topology.
I knew that SAN uses the block level transfer to transfer data all in SIN use level file transfer. Is that what this has something to do with which SAN and NAS drives are recognized differently by the computer? If so, how?

    Thank you.

  • How to move data files from drive C to drive E in MS SQL Server 2005 used for hyperion

    Hi all

We have installed Hyperion with MS SQL Server 2005. Hyperion 11.1.1.3 works well.

But in the SQL server data files will register in C drive only. But we have to back up the files in drive E.

I used the Attach and Detach method to move files from C drive to E drive.

After that, I am reconfiguring the EPM system. but I get errors in the configuration.

Now I get the planning of database failed when Confiuring planning.

Why do you need to reconfigure after that move data files, if it is done properly it should be without data loss.

  • Why "develop the capacity of drive" lasts forever?

In Workstation 8.0, why "develop the capacity of drive" lasts forever? The disc is preallocated, then it should have been just a few miliseconds operation (change a pointer or two). Or do you have some "genius" decided to fill the disk with zeros in the first place or something? (Seriously, fire that one!).

Slightly embarrassed, as you can probably. He's been at it for several hours already (increase in the size of 400G).

A sparse disk (not previously affected) contains the metadata at the beginning, including a directory of grain and grain tables, that point to a single block of 64 KB of data each (a grain). At the sparse disk size increase, these metadata should be expanded to address additional data blocks. So what happens is that a new vmdk file is created with existing extended metadata and then all the data (grains) of the vmdk file is copied to the new vmdk file. Once completed, the old vmdk is deleted and a new is renamed to the old name.

How and why does a file name as 20160312103251.m2ts becomes 0003.mts?

How to make the .m2ts in a .mts?

    Hi HiView,

.Mts and .m2ts file extensions is not a real difference as these two are associated with AVCHD files. The file extension can differ depending on how you import the files on your computer. Files that are imported by drag and drop, or transfer them without using PlayMemories House are registered as .mts files. While those who are copied using PlayMemories House are read as .m2ts files. You can change the file extension and also rename the whole file, clicking on the video, then select Properties. The file name and other data will appear to the right of the window. You can then rename or change the format of file through this tab.
