Why does clicking on "+ open a new tab" open a new tab?

By clicking on the plus sign at the top of the page to the right end of the open tabs used to open a new tab. It is no more. How to open new tabs?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

  • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode without failure.

    Hi Mike,.

This link connects to our support wiki. Apparently, we didn't open this page to everyone immediately, which seems to be a mistake. Let me see if I can fix this or if there is a real reason for it.

    Thank you for this comment.

  • Why does DEP stop opening itunes and how do I solve this problem

  • Why does Firefox not open the site Web (or Google searches) more when I type a Word?

In the latest version of Firefox, when I typed in a word (for example "Amazon" to go to amazon.com) it directed me to the Web site instantly most of the time, if he doesn't not it would redirect me to Google search results for the word I typed.
Now, when I type in a word (here: amazon) it says this:
    jar:file:///C:/program%20Files/Mozilla%20firefox/Omni.jar!/chrome/NL/locale/browser-region/region.propertiesamazon

Firefox 4.0 changed the prefs for that, this extension will restore it.

  • Why not restore the link to Ctrl-click to open in a new tab?

Between 22 and 24 versions, ctrl - click went as a keyboard shortcut to open a link in a new tab.

Now there are two ways: rightclick the link, and choose a Fisher point to open in new tab, or the link middleclick.

Right-click and choose the menu item is more difficult, because we actually watch and read the menu.

MiddleClick isn't as easy or reliable for most people today since the middle mouse button is usually a wheel and hard to click with precision.

I see no reason why you shouldn't restore Ctrl-click to open a link in a new tab and a lot of reasons why you should. Please will you do?

Very well. I created a new profile and found that ctrl - click still does not behave correctly.

And then it dawned on me that I was using the same Web site to run the test each time.

So I tried it on another site and found that it worked very well there. I tried another and it worked there, too.

The site with links for which ctrl - click is not working is realclearpolitics.com. It must have something to do with their HTML. Someone try for me, please.

Thanks for the help, and I apologize for all the trouble I've put you through.

  • CTRL-SHIFT-click to open the link in a new tab (v10)

I came back to Firefox recently after trying to use Chrome for a while. I welcome my return, except that in the update of v9 to v10, I found one of my favorite keyboard shortcuts no longer work as he had.

In v9 and precedent, Ctrl-Shift-click opens a link in a new tab and switched to it immediately. V10, Ctrl-Shift-click still opens the link in a new tab, but does not pass, even with Options: tabs: when I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately enabled.

When you use the mouse to open a link in a new tab, it switches on it immediately as expected.

I thought I was going to have to live with it (or not), but then to find some documentation noting that Ctrl-click now offers the functionality I was used to.

Great! However, backward compatibility with old features could save me some temporary disappointment and some additional research.

BTW, I noted in another post several of the reasons why I returned to Firefox from Chrome.

Two key combinations seem to work in Firefox 8, 9. and 10 for me.

Change when I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately from disabled to enabled reverse functions {Ctrl + click} and {Ctrl + Shift + click}.

  • When I use right click and open in a new tab, how to make the new current tab automatically?

Whenever I did a right click on a link to open it in a new tab or use the control + left click on a link, the current tab remains active, and you must manually select the new tab to see. Is there a way to change that, without the help of shift + left click to open a new window?

I know it's a minor inconvenience, but it would be nice if I could make this active new tab automatically.

    Thank you.

  • Why firefox will not open a hot link in a new tab? I selected the parameter which is supposed to do this, but Firefox insists when you open a new window every time! It's annoying as hell.

OK... um, I'm on Mac OS10.4.11 (not sure about the last two digits, but you get the idea). I installed the latest update of Firefox maybe a week ago... my monitor crapped out yesterday, so I replaced it with a bigger I had to hang out. I have used this monitor with this machine before and had no problem with getting Firefox to open links I clicked on in a new tab. As directed by your help site, I checked "size" of the monitor and it was as always. I have even reduced the "size" of the screen, but not joy.

    What gives, oh a powerful?

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions of the origin of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).

  • By clicking the "Open a new tab" button or "Ctrl + T" no longer opens a new tab. How to bring back this feature?

By clicking the "Open a new tab" button or "Ctrl + T" no longer opens a new tab. How to bring back this feature?
When I click, try a right-click of the mouse to open a new tab, type or use the file menu, nothing happens. However, I am able to open links in a new tab.

The Ask toolbar is originally only in versions of Firefox 3.6.13 +. Obviously something in this extension is not compatible with a Firefox security patch. Disable this extension or uninstall it.

  • Why does take two clicks to open an e-mail now instead of a single click, that it usually take?

So far, it took only a single click to open an email in the Inbox and now it takes 2 clicks. How to return to a single click? Y at - it a setting or an option for this?

The standard has always been a click to view the message in the messages pane and two clicks to open a message in a window or tab.

If you do not have the set message pane, press F8.
