Western Digital 1 TB passport is not recognized

Western Digital 1 TB My Passport Essential Portable hard drive is not recognized by the BDV-E370. any clue?

Hello
Most likely your Passport 1 TB drive is formatted as NTFS. The BDV-E370, as well as all the sony TV and DVD players will recognize USB drives formatted in FAT32 only. NTFS is not supported. FAT32 will recognize up to 2 TB.

  • digital camera via firewire is not recognized

    Hello community of Lenovo,

I got a refurbished T400 (6474WHF) with XP Professional SP3, it works very well so far. It has a Firewire (IEEE 1394) interface in front of her. When I connect my digital camera through IEEE, the camera is not recognized in some way. I tested my camera with my other PC, the device works very well. I guess that the IEEE interface is not activated somehow. I checked in BIOS but I couldn't find an option to activate the Firewire interface. However, my Thinkvantage Helpcenter, I found that there should be an available option of IEEE. I've already updated my BIOS but no IEEE option is always available. Do you have an idea how to activate the IEEE interface internal?

    Hello and welcome,

Do you see a setting BIOS 1394-> Security-> access to the Port of e/s?

  • Western Digital USB external hard drive not found by Win XP.

I have a new USB 2.0 TB WD My Book Essential that my system does not.  I took the first return to BB, thinking it was defective.  A new is similarly, and there is no indication that something is plugged into the USB port.  My system is: 2.8 G P4, 3G of ram, 850 GB on HD 3 internal, under XP SP3.  All 8 USB 2.0 ports work fine on everything else.  My system is well maintained with Virus and Spyware protection and registry cleaning and start cleaning.  Newspaper observer event system is without errors or warnings.  Device Manager reports no problem.

I tried all the suggestions on bonofan1823 post.  Reinstalled all the drivers and other utilities allowing to scan the USB ports. The drive is formatted NTFS according to WD.  I searched ghosts, 315539 devices. I used the command SFC, 3107747. I ran Microsoft Fix It--I deleted UpperFilters and LowerFilters entries by 925196.

The WD My Book has its own power supply, all my tensions.  The blue light on the WD drive and it's a small fan is running.  The drive does not appear in disk management or any where.  The icon does not appear on the far right of the taskbar and no audio sound is made when it is plugged into the USB port or powered.

Someone at - it any other suggestions?  Does anyone else have this problem?

    Thank you.

    Divya R,.

Thanks for the info.  I've tried the drive on another computer running XP Pro. and it was recognized instantly.

I found the driver ITS on the website of WD and installed on the computer.  No change, no recognition. WD has also provided a firmware update for the drive that I could not install because he could not find the drive.  I reinstalled the latest version of the BIOS (2005) for the ASUS motherboard.  I used an old record of 250G WD USB years and it still works.

    UPDATE *.

I bought a $10,00, 3 port USB 2.0 PCI card and plugged.  The WD My Book is instantly recognized and works perfectly. Problem solved.  The problem must be the motherboard ASUS or the BIOS on my P4 system.  I suspect that WD drive information was never getting to Windows XP.

    Thank you

  • External hard disk is not recognized in my computer

My external Western Digital USB hard drive is not recognized in my computer.

I see it in Device Manager and computer management/disk management but not in my computer.

Update driver, a refreshed in disk management and several reboots.

The external hard drive is there but not recognized on my computer.

I need to restore from this external hard drive, but I can't access it.

most of the answers deals with reformatting... the original post says he wants recover from this drive to reformat does not help... the external usb drives, equipped with cables that have 2 ends of usb, connect the two in to; separated on the MB, separate usb hubs usb ports it is because power is causing problems (current rises to voltage drops) then sometimes access to the drive causes the voltage on a single falling down USB, think the os it's read-only / permission issues, with 2 connected to separate power sources the question goes... they were built that way...

I also recommend to never put a USB through a third party hub as more often which can cause problems with the unrecognized drive.

That said, yes I had to reformat to access a drive, if you cannot write to a disc rclick and observe the permissions, if you have formatted the drive on another pc and not changed the permissions for everyone, then under sercurity see you permissions set on a long number, it is because he is always set to original pc (or the id of this pc). Sometimes you can over the way these parameters by taking possession (in the s parameters) and reset to everyone on the local pc.

Something else I found on the disc is not recognized... Plug it into the usb port as described above and restart the pc, I got this job...

Note: I deal with almost all the avalible from different readers that my clients use them all.

    Hello

The disk hard external does not get recognized in the other computer, there seems to be a problem with your hard drive.

You can try to change the USB cable that lets you connect the hard drive to the laptop and check if it is detected.

You can also see at the suggestion of this link.

If the problem persists, contact the WD Support.

  • Is why VMWare Workstation v8.0, failure to launch a hard 52 GB file, stored on a Western Digital 4 TB big, MyBookLiveDuo external hard drive, model 2713D?

The error message indicates that "the file is too large!  However, the application runs perfectly, if the hard same52 GB file, is stored on the disk D: from the host machine!  (The host operating system is MS Windows 7 Enterprise).  Thank you!

The double disks have been formatted by Western Digital, (However, the format is NOT specified by WD). I guess that the format is NTFS.

Not sure why you assume that NTFS because it is not a Microsoft device.  NTFS is a file system developed by Microsoft and as such WDC perhaps owner to have a license to distribute a device formatted in NTFS and that would probably increase the cost of the device.  Anyway, WDC uses a free Open Source Linux OS to control the "Personal Cloud Storage" device and there format ext4.

Please note that the application works perfectly fine, if the same hard 52 GB file, is stored on the disk D: from the host machine!

I will not use a VHD of monolithic, when running on the network and use a split disc.  I would also consider using a prealloue disc split if it was reasonable in size compared to the size of its content.  It will be much better if you are using Snapshots and or repair disk if necessary, and when run through a network expect to have a disk problem.  Besides that if she doesn't have the "Personal Cloud Storage" device at this size and be a monolithic virtual hard drive then you really don't have much choice only to convert a disk of split!

If you encounter the same problem with it on different machines, it seems to be a flaw in the hard drive itself.

I suggest that you contact Western Digital for this topic.

    Hello

Facing this problem with other USB devices as well?

    Here are possible causes:

    • In most cases, this is caused by antivirus or anti-spyware installed on your PC application. You will need to contact your specific anti-virus or publisher of anti-spyware to help determine if this is the case.
    • If the disk contains a partition NTFS, indexing can be activated.
    • There may be some other third party software which is still accessing the drive.  This software is most often safety, management of storage or backup utilities.
    • If your disk contains WD SmartWarr it can actively scans your system. Make sure you have stopped all operations of backup progress.

    You can consult the following article;

    http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/A_ID/274

Warning: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  • Western Digital not recognized XP

Original title: Western Digital does not not on the laptop Gateway for Windows XP!

Well, I have a Western Digital MDL # WD3200D032-000, it worked fine two days ago and now it won't even recognize it on my computer. I put the cord into the USB port and it is made the sound it is attached and then nothing, no loading and blue blue ring does not turn as it allows some glimmers. I have Windows XP, there was no error message, I run AVG for virus analysis. Now, someone told me to use Microsoft It Fit, I've done that, nothing happened, so I just turned off everything all night to see if he was running just to many, but that no longer works. What can I do? Is everything I've worked on this WD and I need to know I can get it back.

  • Western digital external USB 2.0 500 GB hard drive not recognized by Windows 7 Explorer. How can I fix it? ___Thank you for your help.

The hard drive worked well until KB2398632 & KB2347290 updates have been downloaded and installed on 16/09/10.  Hard drive works fine on my Vista machine at work.

On my own machine (Windows 7), the drive is seen in my BIOS.  He also appeared in the "features and properties" of the control panel Windows 7 and the 'properties' indicates that the device is functioning properly.  The pilot is also updated.

It does not appear in the Windows 7 Explorer under 'computer '. Only the C: drive is indicated.

My AMD South Bridge set drivers are up to date my USB 3.0 being drivers.

Western Digital 500 GB external hard drive is several years old.

two updates have no effect to detect the hardware. It was an IE and and update printer spooler. Remove it from the Device Manager and plug it into another USB port. "A programmer is just a tool that converts the caffeine in code" Deputy CLIP - http://www.winvistaside.de/

  • Western Digital external hard drive not recognized in Vista

This computer is Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit) with Service Pack 2.

I have connected an external Western Digital (My Book).  Sometimes the HD appears in devices such as WD My Book IEEE 1394 SBP @. Device Manager, and sometimes it isn't. ????

No matter, it NEVER so appears as a disc when I look in Windows Explorer. ???

    Help, please!

    Thank you.

You can get in trouble with your device drivers.  Go to Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get drivers (and you shouldbring at least for an external hard drive and all you have time to do - they can help way beyond simply solve this problem), let the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.

    I hope this helps.
