Original title: Shared readers do not reconnect
I have two PCs connected wireless. A laptop (Vista Business) was the drives mapped to actions on the other PC (XP). Whenever the Vista PC is started or out of hibernation, or after only a short period of time these discs are not available. Click on the drive in Explorer to display the message "an error occurred during connection [drive letter]: [share name] Microsoft Windows network: the local device name is already in use." This connection has not been restored. »
If I click on 'Network' within Solution Explorer, the XP PC is not visible. The only way that I can "reconnect" these disks is to go into my anti-virus (Trend) and open the network map. This shows the XP PC and then the shares are available through Explorer - XP PC is still not visible by clicking network however.
It started only happens in the last two months - cannot locate exactly when, but quite recently. I use connections to store small files and backup critical files a few before nailing the laptop away and it is quite annoying to have to go through this routine every time.
Any ideas?
Just in case it helps others - I found that if I make sure that my XP PC has a fixed IP address, and then set up the shares so that they are defined using the IP address and not share names, then I do have more problems - seems like it's something to do with Windows solve the share names rather than something to do with the personal firewall after all.

Hello
Code 39 means that the driver is corrupted or missing.
Please make all below even if you have done some before as it is often the set of operations which solves
the question.Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.
Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or

Combo DVD/CD drive does not appear in Windows Explorer or the Device Manager
The combo DVD/CD on my laptop drive isn't in Device Manager or Windows Explorer. The door is not ejected. You must use a paperclip, poking into the hole to open it. I also re - it sitting, but it changed nothing. We had this laptop for 1.5 years and the disk worked great until yesterday when trying to install Starcraft II. Installation failed and it has messed up also the DVD/CD drive.
We read some other difficulty advice and tried the upper and lower filters in the registry, but there was no entires of upper and lower filters in the key.
The specifications of the laptop are:

Until a few days ago, this problem didn't exist - I know. My CD/DVD drive is no longer recognized in Windows Explorer, BIOS or Device Manager. It doesn't, however, appears briefly in Windows Explorer in the analysis of the security of the computer. It allows to open/close, etc. and when it is visible, I am able to open the drive and see the contents of the CD. Then it disappears again. The light flashes indicating that he works and I can hear it trying to read the CD. I uninstalled iTunes because I read somewhere that this may have been the issue - but that didn't work. I tried the system restore, registry cleaners, removal of upper/lower case filters from the registry, used the program Fixit found on the site Web of Microsofts etc and still no luck. Any ideas? The computer is a gateway SX2850 (?) with Windows 7 Home Premium installed.

Hello:
You need this driver for the 0004.
The adapter to wide band may not be supported for W8.
If the driver is not installed automatically, my only recommendation would be to try to install manually by using the following method.
Download and run the W7 driver.
Conclusion of any windows error you get.
Go to Device Manager and click the map broadband which need pilots. Click on the driver tab, click on set to update driver.
Select travel it my computer for the software method and locate the installation folder that was created when you ran the file.
Who will be in C:\SWSetup\sp48568.
Make sure that the include subfolders is selected, and I hope that the driver will be installed.
If this isn't the case, then it probably won't all what you can do to get the card to operate in W8.

Description of the problem:
Optical drive is not recognized in Windows 8.1 (x 64) or in the UEFI System Diagnostics.
Steps to recreate:
UEFI:
- Start the PC in diagnosis system UEFI (F2 at the STATION)
- Pane controls
- Optical drive
- Sequential control
- Error: Optical drive not installed.
8.1 Windows (x 64):
- Run Device Manager
- Error: No CD/DVD Drives section.
- Search for new hardware changes nothing.
Relevant system specs:
Mobile: HP Pavilion 15-n023sa (construction of vanilla)
Optical drive: HP DVDRAM gu70n
Steps already taken to solve:
- Replaced the DVD drive with one of the similar specs of HP Pavilion. The replaced gn70n perfectly in the other machine. No change on problem laptop. Conclusion: DVD player works, and there is no problems with Windows 8.1 (x 64).
- Removed DVD player. Restarted the computer. Sign in to Windows. Stop. Replace the DVD drive. Start the laptop. This is trying to solve defects of material with the PnP devices; more help to solve any problems of intermittent loose connection. Conclusion: No change.
- Ran, troubleshooting of hardware and devices, via the control panel. Problem found: material changes may not have been detected. Explore more options just takes you through http://social.answers.microsoft.com/search/en-us/?query=hardware+device, that it is a 404 error page. Conclusion: Help and Support Windows is sorely lacking. They show no more information than just that something was detected as incorrect.
- Ran the Microsoft FixIt troubleshooting of optical disc and auto repairman. (http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/5/8/F586FB7C-78E0-40EB-AF41-4C925F803CAF/CDDVDWin8.meta.dia... The convenience store has reported that the device was not found. He recommended to remove all power cables, power off, and various other things which have no relevance for computer laptop troubleshooting of switching equipment. He said: If the problem persists, contact the manufacturer. Conclusion: Windows troubleshooting can not solve the problem.
- Run Windows Update to ensure that all updates and definitions have been installed. Conclusion: Windows is perfectly up to date.
- Run a complete Rootkit and malware using Sbybot S & D 2.3 heuristic analysis. as a signature database scan using Windows Defender. Conclusion: Laptop is clean of rootkits and malware, to the best of my knowledge.
Notes:
The DVD player is NOT appear in Device Manager, OR in this PC.
The DVD drive is NOT detected by diagnostics system UEFI.
There is reference to the DVD in BIOS drive NUMBER , other than as an option of Setup, which is generic.
The DVD player itself, works and has been verified on a different machine.
The only possible conclusion is that the optical drive port mini-SATA on the motherboard is dead.
