Why duplicate the mailboxes in IMAP accounts?

I wanted to get my hands on some old e mails from the server of my ISP, but there is nothing there. It turns out that, instead of using Pop3 accounts, that I should use the IMAP protocol. I dropped with IMAP long ago because I don't seem to have much control over what was going on for e-mail. It seems that now I have to go for the IMAP system.

So today, I reset my accounts to run IMAP accounts and now I find I have a lot of duplicate mailboxes. Is it possible that they can serve as drop of withdrawals on the Inbox main account?

See here what is shown:-

I hope you can see where are replicas! I must say it's a little ridiculous the way he drew, but if all goes well, there is a way to remove them or their incorporation in a drop-down list item in the Inbox

Thanks for your help

See you soon

Your email provider's IMAP server uses the Inbox as root storage of emails, or if Mail think.

I can communicate with your mail provider and see what they have to say.

If you can connect to the email on the Web, see what structure it uses for the mailbox store.

Another option might be to simply delete the account and add it again. Maybe that will clear things upward.

  • All messages in an IMAP account disappeared and replacement of Inbox with a registered earlier version does not work

A week ago, all of my emails saved on the My Yahoo IMAP account Inbox disappeared from Thunderbird on my MacBook and also from the server. Two other folders in the account to which I had previously transferred emails remain intact.

    I tried replacing INBOX-1, INBOX-1.msf and INBOX.msf in the imap.mail.yahoo.com folder (Library>Thunderbird>Profiles>n2j0cgku.default>ImapMail>imap.mail.yahoo.com>INBOX&c.)

-with older backup versions (about 12 MB of emails) but on restart Thunderbird, none of them appeared in the account, and when I looked at INBOX-1 once again, he had emptied and contained only a few bytes.

Does anyone have a work around to make Thunderbird accept the old Inbox? Thank you!

You can try this add and see if he can recover messages you protect in your local folders. If bring you it to a local folder, you may be able to retrieve them from the server.

  • 8.1 Windows mail app - single mailbox for multiple accounts as on Windows phone?

I have an outlook.com account and a microsoft exchange account - windows Phone I can combine the mailboxes of these accounts. I can not figure out how to do it on Windows 8 mail and have to check both and constantly move from one to the other, which is more disruptive as it sounds. Can I view a single mailbox for both accounts in Windows mail 8.1, similar to how I'm currently doing it in Windows Phone 8.0? I must warn you that any response in addition to 'Yes' is followed with a request for an explanation.

    Hi Mathenge,

Unfortunately, no.  With the Mail application on Windows 8.1, you can have all your email from the Outlook.com account, Gmail, Yahoo! and Exchange in a single application, but not as a unique mailbox.

You can check out this tutorial and understand the full operation of Windows Mail on Windows 8.1 application

  • Why Thunderbird leaving messages on my server even though I have an IMAP account?

I did some research online and tried all the solutions. Some descriptions say that IMAP accounts always leave messages on the server because they have to, and others which contradict. I am really confused and frustrated. I just want to know what I have to do to open my messages on my computer, delete them if I want, but know that they are always on my Comcast server, if I want to access it later.

The part you are missing is that the IMAP protocol is based on the e-mail server. You simply display messages remotely on your computer or other devices. If you delete an email you're disconnected from the server. This is why there is no option to leave Message on the server as it is in a pop account. The messages are ONLY on the server until you do something different with them as move a copy to local folders.
If you want to keep a copy of this message to your local device, you must first move a copy of the message in a folder under local folders.
When you are sure that the message is in this local folder and you can access it, then you can remove safely from the server.

  • After the upgrade to Windows 10, I can't send mail from my IMAP account

Upgrade to Windows 10 last night. Make a backup on MozBackup beforehand and restored after the download. I see all my messages in my Roadrunner and Gmail IMAP accounts. I can receive messages from all three types of accounts, but I can't send emails from the IMAP account. I checked that I have the right selected outgoing server. But whenever I try to send, I get the error:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded:
Action taken not requested: the mailbox not available
Invalid DNS MX or the A/AAAA resource record.
Please check the recipient of the "[email protected]" message and try again.

Although looks like your new update of windows 10 has not the right or any other DNS servers set up. Thus, when Thunderbird is trying to send a mail it it looks like for the server and there is no... you can navigate t goole, com using this machine and one web browser other than the one provided with windows 10.

The alternative is the email address your shipment to the a in the faulty DNS entry

Research here shows that this is the case. The field of your shipment at all simply not exist in DNS.

  • Why "Bulk Mail" foder not shows not the number of unread messages unless I click on the folder (via IMAP Yahoo mail)?

'Spam' of the Yahoo e-mail account folder (as seen through the web interface 'Yahoo mail') is displayed in Thunderbird as 'Bulk Mail' (IMAP). Looking at the account in Thunderbird foders, I see the number of unread messages in each folder. "Bulk Mail" always seems to be empty. If I click on the "Bulk Mail" folder, then magically messages appear in the message list and the number of unread messages is displayed next to the name of the folder, as in all other folders for this account.

Why I need to touch the "Bulk Mail" folder to see the number of messages inside?

Yahoo deletes the messages in this folder during certain periods. I'm in danger of losing messages unless I remember to touch all of the mail files in bulk from my account Yahoo in Thunderbird.

How do I get the "Bulk Mail" folder to display the number of unread messages as do all other folders of the same account?

    Thunderbird 24.6.0, Windows 7 Enterprise Edition (Sp1)

    Pekka

I do not use IMAP in Thunderbird, so I can't provide instructions step by step, however, other e-mail programs have settings synchronize each individual file on a calendar or using push IMAP (vs when you click it) or not. If Thunderbird has these parameters, I would expect that they appear in the properties of the folder or the account settings. This might be useful, but I don't know if you already have a few dig like that or not.

FYI, a quick search brought me to this page:
    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/configuration-options-folders

An item listed on this page is the following:

Configure the IMAP folders, connections, and namespaces

Location of the menu: tools | Accounts settings | < account name >. Server settings | Advanced

It might be a good starting point because it does not mention connections to IMAP folder, but the folder properties could still be somewhere easier to read first, just in case. To do this, the site lists this:

Configure the properties of the folder (IMAP folders only)

Menu card: Edit | Folder properties. General information

However, I think that you could right-click on the "Bulk Mail" folder and click Properties on the shortcut menu.

  • Mail: Sent to the mailbox for a single account keeps endangered - solution?

Changed an old POP account on an IMAP account. All the server parameters are supplier; prefs are set to keep receipts and sent emails on the server forever.

When I added the IMAP mail (after removal of the POP version) account, the Inbox has well migrated from the server. The box sent, maintains however, disappear. It was never populated from the server (I assume) because it was never added to the list of the other sent mailbox. I can make it appear by sending an e-mail from this account, but it disappears again within seconds or ost a minute or two.

Any suggestions on fow to solve this problem, or at least fix this?

    Thank you.

Just noticed that the Recycle Bin for this account has the same behavior which disappears.

  • Shows IMAP account email date of download to Thunderbird, while in Outlook, the date is properly

I noticed that there is a difference in the date of e-mail displayed in Thunderbird (the account as IMAP configuration) compared to the same date by email in Outlook (POP account setup). See attachment.

Last night my vision was open when I got an email. Later that night, I open Thunderbird and have downloaded the same email but the time displayed is not real time, that the mail has been sent - it was the era of that email was recovered by Thunderbird! I have not seen this King of behavior among other customers of mail before, and I am puzzled. FYI, I use different e-mail clients for different sets of e-mail accounts (professional vs. personal) but a couple of e-mail accounts are on two email clients.

Below you will find the (under the direction of the Security/Privacy) source for the e-mail in question. You will notice that the time indicated by Thunderbird is nowhere in the source of the e-mail.

After some quick research, I found the culprit:

A Date entry does not appear in the email and adds that there is the issue of IMAP that is fixed by the addon that you made me. So basically, you were right.

The missing header entry should have been something like this:

    Date: Monday, August 17, 2015 14:19:05 GMT

Note that the addon fixed the date in the received column (need to add the column; It is not displayed by default) after I did a repair on the Inbox folder (please refer to the instructions of the addon).

  • We have more than one PC connected to the same (IMAP) account, there is an error sending server and works as a single computer at a time.

We have three computers to check the same email account (IMAP) and when more than one is not working and try to send a message is displayed:. 'Server offline [email protected] that the server may have dropped or there may be a network problem.
Right next to Thunderbird on other computers, with only a computer connected to the error disappears, and everything works fine.
When that happens, sometimes gives error when sending an e-mail, "error save message in sent" and the mail is not stored in the thunderbird or on the server, but is sent.

Menu Tools > account settings > server settings > asvanced and reduce the number of connections from 5 to say 2 and see how it goes. I m the connection altogether on the total machines is the question can be reduced then should help.

Seriously have several concurrent users is not a good way to manage an imap account.

  • How can I move the emails already downloaded from an IMAP account expired in a local folder?

I have an IMAP account expired with emails in it I can always access with Tbird as they have been downloaded I think (I can connect is no longer on the server account). I want to move these to the local folder so Tbird will not ask me the password whenever I start to access other email accounts. I tried to move and copy the emails from a local folder, I created and neither worked. How can I do this? Emails must be on my local drive somewhere or I could not open and read them at this stage. TIA.

The Thunderbird value offline: file | Offline | Work in offline mode

Then you should be able to copy your messages in folders the IMAP account on the local folders account.

  • I've set up an IMAP account on a POP3 account merged yesterday and now 95% of records and emails are gone when I opened the program, where's the data?

Earlier, I set up Thunderbird to use my IMAP account. I wanted to convert a POP3 account, so I've added it to the list of accounts in Thunderbird. I copied all the folders on the IMAP account on the POP3 account and continued implementation of the POP3 account with certain filtering rules. Once I have seen that the e-mails were being downloaded, and things were working properly, I removed the mails from my Google IMAP account. This morning when I open Thunderbird, there is only one small file set upward in my POP3 account and nothing else. Filtering rules that I put in place are in place, but the emails and folders disappeared. I need help in recovering emails!

After the installation of the El Capitan, co-worker and I noticed the following problem with the mail:

IMAP Inbox account updates, as usual, at the opening of Mail. Once opened for a short time, the Inbox will recycle messages starting with the most recent and re - download very slowly. The lower left corner constantly shows "Download Messages # #, #. The process ends in a day's work. Re-downloaded messages are not available, unless you restart mail. I see the same Inbox on my iPhone without a problem.

    Anyone?

You have created all of the subfolders of the Inbox for the account?

  • Random imap account appeared on the iPhone

Hoping someone can help - suddenly appeared random imap account recently on my iPhone!  It's a story of the minbox.email and the description is "who will marry you."  When I check the account in my email application, there are a bunch of junk.  The account is an email address that I don't recognize, and there is no option to remove the account, or remove parameters, i.e. the username, hostname, etc..  It's quite disturbing. Has anyone heard of this or have any ideas what to do?

This same weird imap appeared on my 5's as well. If anyone can answer this question, we would greatly appreciate!

Kelly, have you tried to save the phone via iCloud and resort? The imap Protocol is reload?
