New author bnortman (922608) was the first to write with the word of globaljustin "a new research paper discussing a new form of taking fingerprints and follow-up for the web using the HTML 5 < canvas > the user." adds more than one item to Pro Publica: works footprints canvas by loading the browser of the visitor to draw a masked image. Because each computer draws the image slightly differently, the images can be used to assign the device to the user a number that uniquely identifies. ... The researchers found the footprints canvas computer code... on 5% of the top 100,000 Web sites. Most of the code has been on Web sites that use AddThis social media sharing tools. Other fingerprinters include commercialization of digital German Ligatus and the Canadian dating site Plentyoffish. ... Rich Harris, Executive Director of AddThis, said that the company began testing the canvas prints earlier this year as a way to replace the biscuits...

Pro Publica article, to date, this technology is not particularly accurate in itself. Nevertheless, perhaps it could be combined with other information to uniquely identify your browser.

The JavaScript canvas feature is useful for animations and is now used by Google to draw spreadsheets. Turn it off - if there were a convenient way to do - should allow specific exceptions to the site, so you can use canvas where it is useful. I'm not aware of any peculiarity or add-on for that.

Perhaps someone could create an add-on that would cause the canvas to a certain degree of hazard, so that every time you visit a site that is just a bit different, and this is why the site doesn't know that it is the same browser each time. Obviously you wouldn't want to ruin, not that useful to the canvas, so it would need to be subtle.

In the short term, have you considered using the NoScript extension? Followed most bothers people (follow-up of your sitenavigation) is performed by scripts served 'third-party' servers. If you keep scripts from these servers disabled as far as possible, you can limit the ability of the ad networks or others to follow you everywhere.

WON'T. I speak NOT of the IMAGE being copied from a screen. This, of course, can be done by anyone. What I'm talking about you, is that FIREFOX, unlike all other browsers, ALLOWS you to print a PROTECTED PDF FILE complete. This should NOT be and this issue should NOT be closed and just brushed side because Mozilla has a MAJOR BUG in their software. Your program should be corrected in order to RESPECT the protection of a file and NOT allow it to be printed in its ENTIRETY.

NO SATISFACTORY SOLUTION HAS BEEN POSTED. FIRE FOX IS BROKEN AND NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED. PURE AND SIMPLE. DO NOT WHITE WASHING A CONCERN MOST OF YOUR USERS!

  • Why firefox allows me to open and access my comcast emal?

I use firefox and have had no problems with it until about a week ago. Suddenly and without reason, it will allow me to go on my comcast.net email page, but when I try to access and load my mails, it won't. But I can do it on IE. I contacted comcast help and they said that it is a problem with firefox. Help please.

I don't honestly understand why Comcast puts their clients through it each time that they update or change their interface of web portal mail; why they can't test in Firefox and see if it works, before releasing the changes and taking a couple of months to fix everything that is bad.

When you are connected to Xfinity Connect Open Preferences > General and change it to Xfinity Connect Lite. The interface 'Lite' works fine in Firefox for me.

  • Why colorzilla has disappeared from my laptop and why Firefox allows to download?

I used the zoom on colorzilla a little feature, but now it has disappeared from my laptop. I googled colorzilla and had a link to www.colorzilla.com. The download link took me to www.colorzilla/firefox, and a notification "firefox has prevented" appeared.

Colorzilla is not recommended to mozilla/firefox?

    Thank you

In Options > security - there is a labeled pref warn me when sites try to install add-ons = then click the Exceptions... button - you can add a colorzilla.com to this list at the top of this dialog box, and then click allow

  • Why Firefox doesn't open the printer dialog box whenever it starts

When Firefox opens the printer dialog box opens automatically - why and how can I make sure that he does this.
This never used to happen on previous versions of firefox

Some web pages automatically shows the print dialog box. In particular, the pages Web sites have specially formatted for printing can do.

Restore you tabs that you have opened previously, or commissioning with your home page (s)? I suspect that one of them generates the dialog box. You can view by clicking on each of them and reload the page to see if it's on this page.

  • Why firefox does not allow users to configure to play other types of media in the browser via its plugins?

Firefox has a plugin that allows you to play. Stream AVI files in the browser.
There are of course more types of file stream only. AVI that vlc media player (a very popular program) can play.
Why doesn't firefox allow these types of streams, that is to say - FLV to play using the browser firefox via the plugin?
Firefox does not even allow users to manually set this behavior.
I think it's ridiculous to have the potential to be a great another browser, but not yet the chance to compete because of this inconceivable gap.

I got an advance on the answer here:

    Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/4.0; GTB6.4; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729)

    Hello Beth.

I must inform you that (as directed by your user agent string), you use Internet Explorer 8 for the moment, not Firefox. I hope that you are aware of this.

On the toolbar, you sure it's the download which is the problem and not the installation? The toolbar may be browser specific (for example, it can work only on Internet Explorer), so if it is the facility that gives you trouble, you should contact the author of the toolbar for support.

If it is the download that is problematic, you can have a problem with an extension or plugin that is an obstacle to the normal behavior of your Firefox. Have you tried to disable all add-ons (just to see) to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

  • Why Firefox freeze and a box rectangular white happen on my Mac screen after the computer enters mode "sleep"?

Why found frozen Firefox and a rectangular box on my MacPro screen after that the computer goes into screensaver mode and I come back to type it in again? I Force-Quit Firefox and restart my tabs from scratch.

It got so annoying that I switched to Chrome for a while, but Chrome is a hoarder of power who wouldn't let me download at Amazon cover for books printed images as I write. I want to go back to Firefox, but the only way to prevent him from dying on me is to keep completely off the screen saver and sleep-ECOMAT modes. It started happening after I installed the new OS from Yosemite, then maybe it is a conflict of some sort.

Here is a screenshot of the appearance of the white box on the Firefox screen frozen. Well, hmm. It seems that this image be download! Well!

Anyone know what the problem is or how to fix it?

    Hello

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

  • I just installed the latest update to win7, thunderbird and firefox do not, print

I opened my computer today and he wanted to install updates. You see not the warning messages I allowed it. Since then the thunderbird and firefox won't print or preview before printing. I tried to reinstall thunderbird as, after checking the windows update said it will remove the various drivers etc of 34 and 33. the printer will print ok test page, of various words programs etc.

    Try this:

Tools > Options > advanced > general tab
    Click on "Config Editor".
At the top of the search page: print_printer
    Scroll down to print.print_printer.
Right-click on the print.print_printer line and click Reset.

Make sure you have the right printer set default on your system.
    Restart Thunderbird.

    Also:

If that fails, see if you are using an add-on which is the origin of conflicts.
Help > restart with disabled addons.
If it works with addons disabled and then one of the addons is the cause of conflict.
You will need to work through the addons disabled until you find the one causing a problem. Perhaps add it needs updating.

  • Why Firefox 31 change all icons PDF and open in browser, require a fix by using REGEDIT to set for all USERS on a computer?

The solution to use REGEDIT in the question linked below almost fixed my problem with PDF files on more than 30 computers with multiple users on each computer:
    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/1013642

But I need to fix for all users on a computer without logging on each account on each computer. My challenge was to log on as an administrator and change the following key of the overall system instead:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.PDF

    Name: by default
    Type: Reg_SZ
    Data: FirefoxHtm

    Changed FirefoxHtm to AcroExch.Document.11 data

I use Adobe Reader XI on Win7 Pro 64-bit machines.
The problem started when I ran a file downloaded to install the new version of Firefox on computers.

Why Firefox would require me to use REGEDIT in this way to solve the problem?

This only happens when you set Firefox as the default browser and Firefox thinks that there is currently no application PDF file handles.

  • Why can I not print directions using mapquest?

Suddenly, there is no response when I click on the print icon when you use mapquest (I left Explorer for this reason several years after it updated). In addition, when I click on the "Print" icon with fidelity - I no longer have an answer.

I use Classic Mapquest and when I click on the button PRINT on Mapquest, it does nothing and do not print Mapquest directions. When I try in the Google Chrome browser, the print instructions works very well.

Why Firefox is not saving my log in info after that I used the option "Remember Me"?
Whenever I get on a frequently used site where I have already indicated on the Firefox browser to save my log in info, I still need to manually connect. The latest versions of Firefox are not like that. I am running Firefox on both my Imac (OS 10.5.8) and on my Mac Book Pro (Snow Leopard), and on each machine, the latest version of Firefox does the same thing. I don't have this problem with Safari, but I prefer to use Firefox then please let me know if there is anything I can do to solve this problem.

    Hi Mpsfeldt,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple!

Your question, it looks like you are only able to use AirPrint sporadically. We know that situations of this kind can be frustrating, but we are here to help.

To begin the process of solving problems, I suggest you to read about the section If you can not print on your printer AirPrint in the following article.

  • Can I put a reminder on a line on a canvas print?

Can I put a reminder on a line on a canvas print? How can I do? A few examples?

I want to click on the line and a sign to appear, but I don't know how this thing of a reminder for the line of code.

    My canvas:

    Test_2 = NewCtrl (panelHandle, CTRL_CANVAS, ' ', o, 0);
    Status = SetCtrlAttribute (panelHandle, Test_2, ATTR_HEIGHT, 693);
    Status = SetCtrlAttribute (panelHandle, Test_2, ATTR_WIDTH, 693);
    Status is SetCtrlAttribute (panelHandle, Test_2, ATTR_PICT_BGCOLOR, VAL_TRANSPARENT);.

    Draw line on the canvas:
    Status = SetCtrlAttribute (panelHandle, Test_2, ATTR_PEN_WIDTH, 2);
    Status is SetCtrlAttribute (panelHandle, Test_2, ATTR_PEN_COLOR, VAL_RED);.
    Status = CanvasDrawLine (panelHandle, Test_2, MakePoint (489,75), (235, 620) MakePoint);

If you use a canvas, you can use GetRelativeMouseState to detect the position of the mouse on the canvas. Take a look at the example of the Web (\userint\canvas.prj), more precisely the ScratchPad () and DrawToCanvas () functions in which GetRelativeMouseState is used to allow the drawing freehand on canvas.

The next step is to figure out if the mouse is on the line: the line drawn to the user's hand or is it drawn programmatically? In the second case, I guess you know the function it generates, so it is easy to check if the mouse is over the line or not.

  • Why my blackberry cannot print directly to my printer

Hi new here so go us,

I have a HP officejet 6500 has more I download the HP eprint site APP blackberry Web can you tell me why I can't print directly to my printer?

I can print to it if I email the address of the printer, but I should if I'm sitting next to him, also all mobile print shops are in the USA and would it be a long way to go to pick up the United Kingdom.

    Thanks for your time.

    Hey 10blad!

The mobile app ePrint is used to be able to print in places public printer, not on your own personal printer. I know this can be confusing because of the name of the application, but the easiest way to print from a blackberry via the email address of the printer. What I recommend is that you configure email address as a contact printer that will allow you to access easily when you need to print.

Let me know if it helps!
