Why Firefox is more my search engine?

Until today, when I went to refresh Firefox because of the slow and hanging up, Firefox has been my search engine and my browser. I've never seen more Google or Yahoo and was happy about that I won't use any of them. All I saw was Firefox. How is it now I see that my search engine Yahoo? I don't want to! I have Mozilla Firefox as my browser and the start page but also want as my search engine. Please advise!

Now, the point is that you've never used Firefox or Norton. Because they are not search engine. So maybe you have been followed.
Now, to be honest, almost every search engine keeps some of your data. However you can give a try to DuckDuckGo who may not be as much effective, but it does not track your data.
Use in Firefox search bar will help you define DuckDuckGo search engine.

  • Search engines don't work on Firefox 15

I recently installed 15 FF FF 13 and when I got it done, search engine at the top right corner disappeared. I clicked on the arrow down and there were no left search engines. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox at least 3 times and nothing has changed. I tried to create another profile, delete the "sqlite" of my file, checked for malware and update my plugins, but nothing has worked. I don't know what else to try to solve this problem. I would gladly of help on how to solve this problem.

Try to reinstall Firefox to restore default search engines and download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.

You may need to delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer, if you keep problems with the disappearance of the search engines

Your bookmarks and other profile data is stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but make sure that 'delete personal data' is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

Considering that Firefox 13 does not show a "search engine" in a new tab page, I will assume that you have changed Subject: newtab to on: House to the new tab page.

With the topic: Home page loaded, paste this into the address bar and press ENTER.

    javascript:{localStorage["search-engine"]="{\"name\":\"Google\",\"searchUrl\":\"http://www.google.com/search?q=_searchTerms_&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a\"}";void(0);}

  • How can I change the address to google bar search engine?

Basically, I want to make google the search engine by default, I tried to change the thing: the url of the keyword in the config that is not working, the search engine bar is set to google, but the address bar back to Yahoo which I don't want.

The key word. Pref URL is no longer used in current versions of Firefox.
Firefox uses the same search engine (by default) for the address bar and the subject: such home page as defined for the search bar.

It is more likely a problem caused by an extension.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

I do not use Google because there are privacy issues that Google is too happy to violate and deliver to the parties I don't want.

I want to be able to use StartPage instead of Google, when I type something in the URL space and I want StartPage to my default home page (already), looking little box by default (already is) and search engine by default (which is not the case).

    Thank you!

    See:

Note that starting with Firefox 23, it will be possible to specify the search engine for the address bar via the keyword. URL pref.

The search engine used in the address bar Firefox 23 + is the search engine that is selected in the search bar.

You can consider using a keyword (letter) for the search using the address bar.

You can define a keyword for a search engine that is installed through the Manage search engines (click the icon to search on the search bar engine).
