Why Firefox resets whenever it starts?

Adblock Plus is also apparently disabled and I get a blank screen in the Add-ons Manager if I try to view any information about it, but the Add-ons manager says that it is enabled. Only after I've uninstalled and reinstalled that it'll work, but it just resets again once I close and restart Firefox. I followed the instructions to http://mzl.la/Mt91fd, and when I try to delete the prefs.js file, a dialog box appears with the message "cannot delete the Pref: the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

You can do a check disk with the chkdsk.exe program.

If you run the chkdsk.exe from a cmd.exe command window program, then you can read the response of the chkdsk.exe program.

Open a cmd.exe window:

  • Start > run: cmd.exe < press Enter >

At the command prompt (>) type or copy and paste it: chkdsk.exe/f/r < press Enter > (put a space before/f/r)

If you get something like: you want to schedule this volume to check the next time the system restarts? o/n then answer the question with "Y" and close all programs and restart the computer.

  • Why firefox keep ask permission whenever he starts, he has never before?

I use Windows 7 and recently used CCleaner to clean my registry and Firefox is now asking for permission to make changes to my computer whenever he starts. I checked for viruses and malware, tried to run Firefox as administrator, removed all but one of my modules, but nothing help. Any suggestions?

Check that you are not Firefox running as administrator.

Right click on the desktop Firefox shortcut and choose "Properties".

In the Compatibility tab, make sure that this level of privilege: "Run this program as an administrator" is not selected.

You should also check the firefox.exe program properties in the Firefox program directory.

If you can't make the changes, then you must start Windows Explorer as an administrator.

If the home page button works fine, but your shortcut on the desktop to send you to the wrong page, the shortcut can be hacked.

Right click on the shortcut icon > properties > Shortcut tab

For Windows XP (default location), the goal should be either not less that what follows. If there are extra things, empty:

    "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

If that checks well, hmm, I wonder if you could have a hidden extension? Extensions are unable to hide mode without failure of Firefox.

You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still works

After stops in Firefox, a small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).

Any difference? Also, you can visit the page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a

  • tabs disappear whenever I start Firefox 19

I normally Firefox put in place to have 5 tabs pinned and 2 or 3 tabs recorded since the previous session of Firefox. Since I have updated to version 19 FF, I lose 1 pinned tab whenever FF is started. I tried the fixes suggested on the issue of corruption of sessionstore.js file, checked to make sure that Firefox 'Will Remember history' is selected, the file used > Exit to leave FF. Whenever I start Firefox, it will miss a pinned tab (not all, just one). I started with 5 and I can go out, and then launch FF and only 4 pinned tabs are open. Repeat and only 3 are open, etc. If I have a normal tab open when I go out, it is saved & opens the next time FF starts, it seems open tabs is saved, but pinned tabs are closed. In addition, it is always the second pinned tab which is lost (counting from left to right). When there is only one tab left, pinned next time I restart FF, a normal tab is closed. Every time you start after that will close another normal tab until one pinned tab is on the left (the left most pinned tab). I have not tried to restart FF with only the one pinned tab, but essentially is that I lose 1 tablet recorded each time I have quit and restart and seq. anyone else see this behavior or have any suggestions to fix?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the start safe mode window or make changes.

Alternatively, you can check for problems with the cleaning and security software.

Try to start the computer in safe mode Windows with network support (on the startup screen, press F8) as a test to see if that helps.

  • Since the update to Firefox 6.0 whenever I start Firefox it checks my addons to ensure compatibility. It's embarrassing. How to stop this behavior?

Whenever I start Firefox 6.0 run addon compatibility check.

    Try:

You can also try to delete files (extensions.ini, extensions.cache, extensions.sqlite, extensions.rdf) extensions.* and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created if necessary.
    See "extension corrupted files:

If you see people with disabilities, is not compatible extensions in "tools > Modules > Extensions ' and then click the Tools button, on the left side of the search bar (or click on the"Find updates"button in older versions of Firefox) to do a compatibility check or see if there is an update.

How can I get to stop doing this?
All my plugins are up to date.

Type of topic: config in the URL bar and press ENTER.

If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access this page.

Pref = plugins.update.notifyUser if it shows as true, double-click this pref to toggle it false

If this pref was already set to False, try to disable the QuickTime Plugin, and then restart Firefox, to see if it is the culprit.
