Why have I not all of these directories in C:\0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,a,b,c,d,e,f

Hi, this confused me - partly because it is difficult to search on. So I think that some good old fashioned eyeballs have a much better chance to solve this mystery than a search engine! I upgraded this Windows 7 machine to Windows 7 Pro a few months back - 18/09/2013 to be exact. Please see screenshot below. I don't know if it's relevant, but it seems that more than a coincidence that, at some point during the upgrade, all of these directories have been created. Anyone know why they were Setup, what are they, and they are still needed? Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

My apologies for the delay absurd to update this thread!

Two weeks after posting here, I discovered that records have been created by a data backup program secure whose parameters I had tweaked inadvertently, causing its work files should be stored in C:\ instead of their habitual residence.
