    Question
Why don't Firefox4 restore any sessions that were open at the time? Before the update, I've been invited either ('SAVE AND QUIT'), or even if it closed UNEXPECTEDLY (crash etc) it STILL restored everything. New version does not offer "save and exit".

Now, Firefox always stores the old session which you can access from the history menu by selecting "restore previous Session."

If you always open the last set of tabs, another approach is the following:

    1. Click on the orange button Firefox, then select options to open the options window
    2. Go to the general Panel
    3. Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "show my windows and tabs from last time '.

Yes, if the sessionstore file is there, Firefox will use it. If it isn't, he used. If you reinstall windows and it deletes your data personal, the file will not be there, while Firefox will restore your session

A likely cause is that you first close all Firefox Windows and then close the Firefox application.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the profile folder of Firefox that store session data.

Delete the sessionstore.js file possible sessionstore-# .js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Delete sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and tab groups and opened and closed the tabs (back) to get lost, so you will need to create them again (take note or bookmarks).

  • Firefox is remembering my history, but do not allow me to restore the sessions or don't forget the tabs.

Firefox > History shows a list of recent websites, so I see it's save my history, but firefox is not restore my tabs at startup. ALT > t > o > general is set to display my tabs from the previous session. The firefox home page appears instead, with no option to restore previous session in the lower right corner and a greyed 'restore previous Session' option in Firefox > history
As suggested, I tried to remove sessionstore.jss and sessionstore.bak, and history of privacy is set to always store.

  • I've recently upgraded to the latest version of Firefox and can not find the command "Restore last session". Anyone know where it is? Thank you

The upgrade has been in recent weeks.
I checked the "history" section and do not see the link.

At the top of the Firefox window, click the button with Firefox, making history (the menu background in Windows XP) and select Restore last Session.

  • How to I have restart Firefox without restoring a previous session?

Whenever I encounter a suspicious site (like a fake antivirus, redirection porn site, etc.), I'll close Firefox 6 using the Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL then Applications / Close). I do this because sites often suspicious Web you don't have to click on something before you can close your browser [example: are you sure you want to exit this Web site?] Yes/No]. I don't want to click on anything that may install malicious software.
After forced when I re - open Firefox, it attempts to restore my last session automatically. This of course re - opens the same suspect site and I have to close Firefox a second time with CTRL-ALT-DELETE. After this second termination constraint I get the page "well, it's embarrassing" and I can choose to start a new session.
My question: is it possible to stop Firefox to automatically restore a session of old when it is closed or force terminated?
By the way... In Tools/Options/general/start, I set to 'Show my home page' at startup.

Set the browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes pref to 0 on the about: config to get page the on: sessionrestore page immediately with the first reboot after a failure has occurred or the Task Manager was used for the closing of Firefox.

Which allows to deselect the tabs that you do not want to reopen, but will reopen the other tabs.

  • After the last update of Firefox, browser will not restore previous session after accident/quit. It restores the old pages, not newer. And no ' oops! embarrassing page.

Has taken my MacBook Pro to repair and they have updated my software, including apparently Firefox. I have FireFox 50.0.2 Mac OS x 10.9.5. Now I no longer get the "Oops!" It's embarrassing"page after a crash or a restart, and when I click on 'restore previous session', Firefox opens again the old pages, which some I no longer need and do not open most of my recent pages. I think I clicked on all the right settings, including "remember my story." Someone knows what to do? Thank you!

You may have corrupted sessionstore file (s). Delete all files sessionstore * and the sessionstore-backups folder.

Type of topic: support in the address bar and press to enter.

Under the logo of the page on the left side, you will see Basics Application. Under this find Profile Folder. To his right, press the button view file. This will open your file for the current profile of Firefox browser. Now close Firefox.

Find the file above. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

  • How to automatically restore the session after a crash/update / without asking me if I want to restore it?

Hello, there are times that my Firefox crashes (well, it happens to all of us who use it to some extent) or updates asking to restart. I would like to know if there is an option that allows you to restore the previous session automatically without asking me even. It would be very useful for reasons. I had this kind of problem a couple of times ending me be upset. Sometimes I misclicked and lost all my important tabs. Other times my firefox has crashed/shifted on after reboot and guess what sound restart still has not even asking me if I wanted to restore my session crashed.

    Thank you in advance.

Cesarius Hi, I think I understand, but I have not explained completely.

The browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes preference is to avoid an infinite loop. The default value 1 means an attempt to restore the session automatically once and if it fails (for example, it crashes before it can finish to restore), then display the "embarrassing". You could try to increase the value of 2 or 3 and see if it works on the second or third time. If you still see the screen "This is awkward" after a crash, Firefox still does not make a failback.

You can also check if there is a file user.js in your profile folder. A user.js file is a file of optional parameters that Firefox reads at startup and uses to override the settings saved in your previous session. Unless you create a user.js file yourself, you can usually just remove it. This article includes a section on the hunt for a possible user.js file: How to fix preferences that will not save.

Note: by default, Windows hides the .js file extension. Precise work with file names, I suggest setting windows to show all file extensions. This article has the steps: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

  • How do I close the last tab when restore last session setting is turned on?

There are times, when I have several tabs open at the same time, when I want to turn off the computer and would like to see these tabs next time when I run Firefox.
However sometimes also would like to be able to close the last tab and with that 1) closing of Firefox 2) ' close the session' as when I restart Firefox, the default home page greets me, while restoring session last still in activity.

This future change is good knowledge and bitter to acknowledge, but it was not what I was looking for. (In practice, I need something, that automaticaally a click that, when they are available and makes unavailable, when for example, I press Ctrl + W on the last tab.)
I just realized, on my cell plu I made Facebook an app - tab, so I could close the last non-app-tab and exit firefox, and next time, the start page was there with the Facebook tab as well. I remember also, that in the pre-Firefox 4 (maybe) it was the default behavior, right?

Also I was using this: https://addons.mozilla.org/hu/firefox/addon/session-manager/ but a new computer should come with a blank page, and also I forgot about it.

Probably what I really need, is when I run Firefox, the start page will be always the first tab seen.

Thanks anyway, and I take the responses 'not possible '.

Edit: Actually the function of what I was looking for was available in the plugin I mentioned.

  • Restore the Session bug - fails after erasing history

This happens sometimes in the past, but after the latest update of Firefox, it happens almost everytime. When I close the browser, I want to clear the history first. Also, before you remove history, I open a new empty tab and close tab old, just to make sure the history is cleared. So, the next time I start up the browser, I get this message not being able to restore the session, one that starts with "well, it's embarrassing. Firefox has struggle to recover your windows and tabs. »

Same behavior as in this other thread, but I guess I'm supposed to start a new thread.
    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/959257

I didn't know there is a function 'clear history of Firefox closing', I just do everything manually.

    What is the start setting?

    • Tools > Options > general > startup: 'when Firefox starts '.

You manually close the story or do you currently use 'clear history of Firefox closing?

Use "Firefox > output" (Windows: Firefox/file > quit;) Mac: Firefox > quit Firefox. Linux: Firefox/file > exit) to close Firefox if you are currently doing by clicking on the X close in the title bar of Firefox.

The 'well, it's embarrassing... "message means that Firefox did not close properly the last time and had possibly crashed.
