Why is my imac printing docs pdf with squares instead of text

I use OS X 10.9.5. When I want to print a pdf document was sent to me from an external source (for example, my electricity bill) the document is printed with squares where the text should be.

Sometimes if I get an overview of printing, it will look OK but always printed with squares/no text, and sometimes it shows squares in the preview. I was not able to determine a trend.

I tried to print the docs to two printers (HL 2140 Brother and Epson WF3620) with the same result. I can't find that someone has posted the same problem in any forum...

If there are small places where individual letters should be, it's a problem of compatibility of fonts.

If you print from Acrobat, you can work around this by using the option 'Print as image' under 'Advanced Print Setup:

  • After the new installation unable to print to PDF with Acrobat 8 Pro

I recently had to do a clean install on my desktop computer.  Is it possible that I can print to PDF with my Adobe Acrobat Pro 8, which was working fine before the clean install.  I am aware that Adobe supports this version is no longer, but isn't this program, able to run without updating?  You want to print the pdf files from Web sites and Microsoft office.  Spin operating system Windows 7 Ultimate.

    Hi jadbe,

Windows 7 is not a platform proven to Acrobat 8.

  • Why can I not print a PDF (NS train ticket) once downloaded with Firefox? (file (SECURE)

When you place your order and pay a ticket by internet, they send a pdf file, you must download and print. When this download with Firefox (from my e-mail account), the PDF says (SECURED) and I can't print the ticket (pdf file). (Adobe program stops automatically).
When you download this same PDF in Safari, I don't encounter any problem.

  • Why can I not print a pdf file in windows 8

Why can not select print share when I select a pdf file? I can't get the file to print from anywhere.

It is not the printer or even Windows 8.  It's the adobe program that installed Windows 8.  Go to Adobe and install the Adobe Download reader.  Once you have installed, you will have all the tools at your disposal at the opening of your PDF document.

  • Help! Print to PDF with transparency?

I have a (8 x 16 spreads) document related to PDF files, updated frequently via Photoshop.

Make sure that the image mode is 8 channels, PDF files import into Design with transparency on the workspace.

However, when you try to print to a PDF file, transparency is flattened and replaced with a white background > :(

The idea is to use the paper color as the background instead of printing a block of white ink.

Forgive me if I'm missing something obvious - I tried different formats (png, tiff), flattering transparency 'preset' setting to 'high quality' and juggle with PDF printer driver settings.  Displaying print PDF in Acrobat displays a white background on a transparent paper.

Its interesting to note the In-design background prints transparent (between related images), but not the transparent parts of the image/PDF files themselves.

    Help, please!

Dropbox link to examples of files with parameters:

    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mh7pwit3amrwtw1/AABZbuCr6E7Y-0_2GWJAjQ-ta?dl=0

Thanks for any help or ideas that you can give!

When you create a PDF file you must never use the print to PDF or use any kind of Postscript.

Any PDF from InDesign file is to be exported, a PDF from Photoshop or Illustrator must be saved in PDF format. If you exchange PDF files between these applications to export or save as PDF/X-4.

Print or postscript will never support transparency, so do not use distilled, print to PDF, PDF1.3, EPS.

Do not PNG or TIFF with vectors.

BUT change the color of the paper will have no effect. If you need to print a background color different other than white, you should add a layer below all layers, name it background and draw a rectangle of guide line for the purge frame bleeding frame guide line in the desired color.

  • Why can't I read my PDFs with CD player after the upgrade of Apple OS 10.11?

Two days ago I could read my PDFs with Acrobat Reader DC while running OS 10.9 on my Mac Mini. Today, I upgraded to OS 10.11 (El Capitan), but now I can't read my PDF files. The player will launch, but never to show the document. No error message. No matter if I try to open the PDF file by clicking or using file > open.

    So far, I have:

    (1) removed and reinstalled Acrobat Reader DC.

    2) updated the player via the menu help. 2015.009.20077 running. By the Adobe website, I am told that it is the most recent version.

    3) based on a forum comment, I disabled both plugins Adobe in my folder of Plugins from the Internet. No effect. The replaced. No effect.

    4) based on a forum comment, I registered on the Adobe Web site... and so that's why I can of this type. Confirm my email address. Connected. No effect.

    5) based on a troubleshooting page, I did so that the operating system will be associated with the single CD with pdf files. Not found a problem there.

How can I fix this so I can read PDF files that I have read two days ago?

    Hi Robert,.

Try to install the reader here XI: Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution and check if you are able to open a PDF file or not.

    Thank you

  • try us BIPUBLISHER TO PRINT a PDF with APEX

But the opposite is not true.
That is to say, RTF fields created using BI 11.1.6 Desktop Publisher default will not work with BI 10.1.3.4.2.

However, BI 11.1.6 Desktop Publisher, there is an option to mark also backward compatible. Re-design of your RTF with this option checked then it will ONLY work with BI 10.1.3.4.2
Please refer to the thread with jaouad khalifi mentioned in the post for more details.

  • PrintPagesSilent using to print the PDF with double-sided printing and color

The use of VBA with Acrobat 9.0 code library.

I have an application that prints the PDF files that are stored on a network drive.

I can print PDF files using PrintPagesSilent, which prints the file to the default Windows printer.

However, I want to be able to specify in the VBA code if I want the file in duplex or printed in color.

I can do this in access using the Printer.Duplex = '2' or Printer.Color = '2', but they do not change the windows default printer settings and therefore do not change how PrintPagesSilent prints.

Can someone shed some light on how I can set these parameters to accomplish what I need.

Or maybe another solution I didn't think.

Figured out, or at least a work around.

Found a VB code that can change Windows printer settings.

All I had to do was create a module and then call SetPrinterDuplex before you print the pdf file, and then again to change it after.

Here is a reference for anyone interested.

  • Print to PDF with a predefined background

I use Acrobat 10.1.16 in the Windows 7 environment.

This version of Acrobat supports the profiles in which I can put a background (format pdf) to insert when I print a pdf file?

Or I can specify a background when printing?

    Thank you.

    Mona

To answer your first question, no, there is no way to make a background to be inserted automatically when you create a PDF by printing to PDF (that is, the PDF from Adobe PostScript driver instance).

If you are ready to add a background after the PDF has been created, then peripheral Doug Hanna is spot on!

  • Why can I not print a PDF without saving it to my hard drive?

Since I loaded Acrobat Reader DC, I can't print a PDF without first recording on my hard drive.  When I select the print option, it allows you only to save me.

Ah. I have it. You don't mention that you opened the file in Chrome. Keep in mind, Chrome does not yet use Adobe Reader. It has its own pdf viewer.

  • GeoGebra prints a PDF with printer acrobat, its text that can be selected or not searchable.

I want to join the pdf but it does not seem possible. So I'll put a link http://elinkage.net/1.pdf here.

The created pdf file is certainly not an image. Nice looking for smooth fonts which is fully scalable.  Just can't believe that the text is not selectable or searchable.

Thanks for all comments and solutions to correct the issue.

The characters associated with the field points are represented by actual fonts.

The rest is shown characters (an image using vector graphics).

Open the PDF with Acrobat Pro (any version).

    Go to the content panel.

Lotsa - Lotsa entries 'Path '.  Almost all are these characters Graphic image.

In short - nothing can do a 'find' or a 'research' on as it is not more not less than an 'image' - no 'real' text (a prerequisite for any search engine to 'find' or 'Search' or built a search index).

If a problem of 'author' and not an Acrobat / Adobe Reader / software application problem.

    Be well...
