  You don't have to install or update java for OATS. OAT itself comes with packets of jre. In order to not install updates.

  Java does not have to be installed in Oracle_Home, it can be installed anywhere on your system. You probably already have a Java 6 is installed somewhere. But if not, just install it (via the package manager or installed manually from a tarball, etc.). This is a limitation of this site.
