WHY IS THERE NO PARENTAL CONTROLS FILTERS ASSOCIATED WITH EATING DISORDERS?

I know that I can ban specific websites using Parental control filters, but when Microsoft will add a way to filter the news of dangerous on weight loss, dieting, etc.. ? It is too easy for children to find the BMI calculators, feeding sites and other things of that nature and mistreat them. I could turn on each single parental control and my child would probably still managed to use a search engine to access a Web site that could be detrimental to her recovery. I can't type in a thousand of banned sites. It would just be easier to ban its ability to search for a specific word.

So I would like to see a filter added to Vista, XP, and Internet Explorer that allows me to forbid my child looking for a specific word associated with consumption of issues, issues of body image, eating disorders, weight loss, etc.
These topics are just as dangerous as alcohol, nudity, blasphemy, weapons, etc. IF NOT MORE SO.
And with so much pressure from the media, there are more and more children using the internet to fuel this problem.
It's time to give parents a chance to help protect our girls (and boys!) preventing them from surfing for such things!

But there is a better way to achieve your goals, rather than through your operating system. Set up a free account at OpenDNS and choose your own filters. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Control filters CSS with javascript

    I know that I came across a post in the past values explaining how retrieve CSS with javascript, but I can't find it now. Basically, it came down to something like this:

    sym.getSymbol (componentNum) .getSymbol (BKnum).$("open1").css ("opacity");

    I am now trying to control the CSS values and can reverse this to control the standard CSS values, but may not understand the appropriate structure for control of CSS filters.

    sym.getSymbol (componentNum) .getSymbol (BKnum).$("open1").css ({'opacity':0.5});})

    This changes the opacity a.5 successfully, but how I would control the inverted property? Animate lists like:

    CSS: filters: invert()

    As opposed to:

    style = "opacity:." 5; »

    You can do something like this:

    var filterVal = "invert (0.6);

    SYM.$("rectangle")

    . CSS ('filter', filterVal)

    . CSS ('webkitFilter', filterVal)

    . CSS ('mozFilter', filterVal)

    . CSS ('oFilter', filterVal)

    . CSS ('msFilter', filterVal);

  • Why is there a lag when using DateConvert with DateCompare?

    I develop on my local server and my current time zone is GMT + 11 hours.

    < cfset date1 = DateConvert ("Local2UTC", now())) >

    < cfset date2 = ' 2014-03-06' > <!-->---(demain àle moment de la rédaction)

    So, I expected that when I ran this code:

    #DateCompare(date1,date2,'d') #.

    that he would return "-1", but it is a '0', which means 'day' was the same.

    So, to double check that I got out:

    DateConvert ("Local2UTC", now()))

    has caught its displayed value: {ts ' 2014-03-05 07:08:58 ""} and inserted as a comparison as well:
    DateCompare ("{ts ' 2014-03-05 07:08:58"} ", date2, 'd') and of course, he returned a '-1' which reflects the day of date1 is in effect prior to the date 2.

    Further investigation showed that I had to add my time zone difference to date2 in hours as well:

    < cfset date2 = ' 2014-03-06 11:00 > for

    #DateCompare(date1,date2,'d') #.

    to return to a '-1 '.

    Is this a bug or am I wrong?

    Thanks for your explanation. My bad: it is now clear that I misunderstood. I'm sorry.

    Apparently, in dateCompare, Coldfusion implicitly converts UTC local date2. I agree with you that this kind of interpretation is unacceptable. The developer should be to make the interpretation, and Coldfusion must simply compare the 2 values passed to the function. Indeed, you should report a bug.

  • In the control panel under Tools, folder, file types options, why are there items her don't have next to them?

    According to my question in the title above... Tab file types... Why is it (NO) next to audio CD, disc, DVD, and a little more such elements as the folder of file, folder and to allocate to the Protocol.

    Reason why I ask this is I just do a fresh install of Windows XP with SP2 and I installed SP3 after that on an old computer that was in need of a new facility. I continued to get the AutoPlay window I went to the CD and DVD players and set everything to TAKE NO ACTION. I wonder if I made a mistake by doing this. I was half way tempted to do the same for drive C, but I did not.  Is there something I can do to correct what I do that I should not have?

    Also, I noticed that my computer is really slow now and it was not before.

    How can I find other positions that have posted here on Microsoft Answers?

    Thank you

    Gary

    The [NONE] you're referring to means that there are has file extensions associated with things such as Audio CDs, disks and DVDs.

    A "file extension" is the 3-(4-parfois) part of a file name that comes after the period character.  For example, in "Document.doc" file extension is doc.

    Made settings were - as you noted correctly - in the AutoPlay dialog box.  These settings determine what Windows does when a removable storage device is connected.  Depending on the type of multimedia content detected on the device, you can choose from a variety of "Manipulative Autoplay" to deal with this content.

    "Take no action" is not a bad default.

    If you want to change your mind, open my computer and right-click on the icon for a CD/DVD/USB device and select the tab "Autoplay".  You can choose from a variety of types of "content" and then choose which application should open.  For more flexibility, TweakUI--> http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/windows-xp or see

    http://WindowsXP.MVPs.org/AutoPlay.htm
    http://WindowsXP.MVPs.org/addautoplay.htm

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Also, I noticed that my computer is really slow now and it was not before.

    A number of things could happen here.

    Have you installed all necessary drivers after you reinstalled Windows?

    Have you installed an antivirus application before connecting to the Internet?

    Have you applied all post-sp3 Windows critical updates before you begin to surf the Internet?

    Did you uninstall the trial versions of software antivirus which have been replaced (unless your new Windows installation was a "clean install")?

  • Vista's Parental control prevents the launch of iTunes Store - allowing sites Web does NOT resolve.

    My daughter is unable to launch the iTunes store in iTunes when parental control is on.  If I turn off parental control it works.  See this post- http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistamedia/thread/64a593eb-8ae4-4605-86f6-8a941244f2d1/ - the answer it does NOT solve the problem, and you can see at least 3 others have the same problem as I am.

    To reproduce:
    -Download and install iTunes.
    -Create a user of Vista with Parental controls active.
    -Log in as user, and launch iTunes.  This method works.
    -Try to access the iTunes Store.  It hangs and never ends.
    -Add web sites to the list of 'Green' in the Parental control as suggested in the post mentioned above.  This has no effect.
    -Select "allow all websites and content.  There is still no effect.
    -Disable Parental controls for the user.  link iTunes Store arrives without problem.

    I find that my daughter is unable to access the iTunes store unless I have turn off the parental control.  I would use Parental controls.  Help, please.  Thank you.

    Rock you.  Yes, it seems that this problem could be solved by adding iTunes in the HTTPExemptions list.  In particular, adding a String key under:

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Parental Controls\HTTPExemptions

    The key name and the value must be the path to the executable to iTunes (c:\program files\iTunes\iTunes.exe on my machine).

    I guess the drawback here is that now that my kids could, theoretically, use iTunes to access any URL on the internet, but to my knowledge, there is nowhere in iTunes where they could just type a URL and go.  In addition, there are Parental control built into iTunes as well.

    Thank you!

  • EA6300 Parental controls

    I put parental controls in place on my EA6300 to my children and it worked fine for the time where it's supposed to be blocked.  The question I have is this time I have not designated as "Block Internet access" will sometimes block their access.  They do not get the standard page of parental control sent to the router stops internet access.  If I go into the router and disable parental control, they will have access, but when it turns back on, they get the same blocking without parental control of the router page.  If I reboot the router everything works fine, but I don't have to restart the router to work things out.  This irregular periods only happens when my children are strongly online game.  This problem does not affect computers that have not defined any parental control, that those with defined time demand.

    Any advice would be helpful.

    EA6300 FW 1.1.40.153731

    25 active devices connected

    Comcast Blast (50Mbps) service

    No luck with the restart of the computers for children.  The key here is just randomly starts any system locking with the same thought active parental control is not set to block at this time here (in general when I have 3-4 teenagers making games online).  The only thing that fixes it is to disable the parental control (but that only temporarily solved the problem) or reboot the router.

    Update: there was a single thing in my configuration which should not have caused the problem above that I changed back to the default value.  My router was set to 192.168.2.1 to support a configuration that I had in the past.  I fly over the default router 192.168.1.1 and now things work fine.  This makes me think that must do a better job with QA/QC of their code of Linksys router.

  • Help. Are there parental controls for 1800 7 hp Tablet?

    I bought this tablet for my 7 year old son. And I can't find the parental control. If there is someone who found them please help me. My child was already able to download some applications THAT ARE NOT RECOMMENDED for CHILDREN. Help!

    Discussions were merged into one.

    Open game store.  Access by typing on three points in the upper right settings.  To halfway to the bottom is the filtering of content, where you can also set a password to limit purchases.

    Hope that helps.

    If the child is a Standard recommended account and you are using an administrator account, the standard account cannot change Parental controls.

  • Why should I Windows 8 for the 30 minute increments in the parental control?

    As a developer of software using languages and platforms of Microsoft, I understand how planning works in an application. Why should I upgrade to Windows 8 to get the opportunity to restrict access timed to a PC safe family 30 minutes increments? This is no logic, except if it is half cooked to inform users to upgrade. This is a feature I've wanted since we began using the parental control and I can only assume the developers actually do not use the product, they have created because it really shouldn't been missed for this long. It should also be a simple change in the code to check every 30 minutes instead of 60. Maybe the team of parental controls overlap or had their budget reduced to the point that they cannot make such a simple plus change. I understand, I am in the software. I know it's less than constructive but it's annoying to know different. It's annoying to 'upgrade' to 2012 Essentials see virtually no difference in the features. Your users are not YOU!
