Why my audio devices do not go away after I reinstalled Windows 7?

I have a HP Pavilion M7690E Media Center PC. Purchased in December 2006. It has a NVIDIA GeForce 7500LE video card and a Sound Blaster Audigy XFi, map its 24-bit Xtreme Fidelity.

When the computer was purchased, it ran Windows XP. I later upgraded to Windows Vista and finally updated again to Windows 7.

Today, I decided to re - install Windows 7 so the hard disk should be erased, reformatted, and I could give it to a parent. I cared not if all the files have been deleted. After doing the custom reinstall everything worked well and I had a zillion updates. However, there was no noise from the stage monitors and when I checked in the Device Manager, there was 'No Audio Device Found ". I downloaded and installed the latest driver for my sound card that does not do anything to solve the problem and now, I'm stumped. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Yes, I know I should have backed up just in case, but I never pretended to be brilliant.

Thanks for any help.

I stumbled upon the solution to my problem. I went to devices and printers and found a ball strange entry under devices. When I checked the properties of the device, I found that it is a multimedia audio device without any driver. I clicked on troubleshooting at the top of the screen and the computer lead me through the process of obtaining a driver for the sound card. Some times better to be lucky then good or smart! In any case, thanks for the advice.

  • High definition Audio Device works not properly

I use Windows 7 Home Premium with a generic "high definition Audio Device" that beat unexpectedly and I can't get it fixed. It seems that Windows thinks that the Audio device does not work correctly, except there is a red X on the speaker sign on my toolbar. I have no playback listed device, but there is a device under sound, video and game controllers. Its location is also "Location 0 (High Definition Audio Bus)". Please and thanks for the help!

No, the Red Cross means no driver installed, essentially.

Go to the site of the manufacturer of your computer, looking for support for your page, then download and install the specific audio drivers for W7.

Re-post if it does not work. Do NOT rely on MS to do the update for you.

    See you soon,.

    Try this:
Go to control panel, sounds. On the Read tab, click speakers, and then click on the "Set as default" button below. If you do not see your speakers, then right-click on the box, on the shortcut menu that appears, click on the box in front of "show disabled devices" and "Show disconnected devices" to put a check mark on them. Buttons-click apply then OK to exit.

    Hello

I think you have the same problem like me a few months ago.
    I installed Win XP SP2

The t is not his work because I didn't install the patches MS; KB835221 & KB888111

The patches must be installed as a first step, before the audio driver is installed.
If you have already installed the audio driver, then you must remove (uninstall) before install you the patches Ms.

PS: The MS patches are part of the SP3

I'm new to this forum and my question is maybe stupid, but I'm not able to solve this problem.
My Satellite 5200 801 makes no noise after that I installed the XP SP2. I tried to find a new driver for the Yamaha AC - XG Audio device (one that does not is 6.13.10.2152 (2002-07-19 day), but I wasn't able to find anything.)

    Hello

I found another announcement in this forum on this subject!
Your Satellite 5200 802 has a sound chip called Yamaha YMF753 and it is built in different notebooks! This chip problems with Service Pack 2 because MS consider that the pilot of his Yamaha AC - XG is unstable. When Service Pack 2 is installed, Windows disables the audio driver.

Here are some links that might help you!

  • No sound. SoundMAX and Audio device does not.

Having a situation on Win xp. No sound.

Through "Audio device on High Definition Bus" gives Audio Device Manager with a yellow exclamation point and a code 28.

Try to install the update of readers prove to be fruitless.

Another piece of information that COULD help is "Soundmax cannot load correctly, you may need to reinstall soundmax" at startup.

I'm afraid that I have more bullets.

I think that it is time to raise the white flag and order a set of recovery disks.

Call HP at this number 1-800-334-5144 and tell them you need a set of XP Recovery discs for your PC.

You will need to provide the model number and serial number.

Cost will be $ 10.  A good price to pay to get rid of this problem.

You will get two discs... an OS install disc and a disc driver and application.

You install XP first and then you can autorun disk driver and application.

If you encounter a cold beer, disc will install all the software and drivers for the PC automatically.

When it's done everthing should work just fine.

You can even turn off things you do not want to install before you begin.
