Why my dock is crowded

On the right side of my dock, there are a lot of documents that takes a lot of space in my dock. Is there a way to clean documents?

Click and hold a document or folder, and then click Options > remove from the Dock.

  • Mini series 3 not putting monitor in power save

    I have a T510 with a Mini Dock Series 3.

Everything works as planned, except when you are using DisplayPort between the dock and my Dell monitor, the monitor will not go into saving energy. When it is connected directly using DisplayPort, the monitor will be able to register without problems, every time.

This problem occurs for the shutdown, Hibernate and sleep. The only time where energy saving working properly is in standby. Wake on LAN and the other suspects usual, that all seem to be set correctly.

Most often, after its judgment (etc.), the screen displays "power saving", turns off for about 10 seconds, him returns with the message "cable not connected" (which means no energy saving).

    Everyone knows this?

Or, in other words, someone else monitor the work of energy saving as expected with a Mini Series 3?

My solution for the T510 must use DVI on my Dell 2408, since to my Dell 2408 DisplayPort has failed.

I looked at the dock when Windows is shut down and after that the T510 stops, 10 seconds later, the dock lights up briefly and the monitor on.

When bypassing the dock and direct connection on DisplayPort, Dell behaved very well

I have concluded that implementing Dell of the DisplayPort power saving function was not compatible with the dock, or at least with what the dock was 10 seconds after the end of the window. I have no idea why the dock does this, but I bet there's a good reason, otherwise... Why do.

My guess is that your problem is similar, that is your monitor ' implementation of DVI power saving is not compatible with the behavior of sending power station about 10 seconds after stopping.

Maybe take a look and see the sequence.

  • Why keep my dock pass screens?

I have a monitor Setup three with my Mac - Pro.  Here's a table representation of how I put it:

    Monitor 1

    Monitor 2

    MAIN MONITOR

    Low PLATFORM

    3 monitor

    MacBook Pro

    Retinal display

    Acer

    AL2216W

    Norcent

    1280 x 1024

I put my dock at the bottom of the central screen and use it as my main.  But what I've noticed, is the dock turns of monitor to monitor without apparent reason?  When I look in my display settings it still shows the central monitor with the dock and the dock has moved to one of the other two and I don't know why.  Is this a bug or am I doing something to do dock jumping to another screen?  How do I go back?  What I've discovered, is if I change the dock to be positioned on the left, then down it moves to the bottom of my screen, but she did this quite recent that has become an annoyance.

If it helps, here are the specs of my Macbook:

    I thought about it.

When you have multiple screens, if you place your mouse in the middle where your dock would be on any one of the other monitors it moves here for you - for me low middle.  It's a feature, not a bug or a question.  If you place your mouse on your original monitor in the middle position of the where, in the middle of the dock would come back.

You must have Dell Dock for your computer works correctly.  It's just a convenience tool that Dell put on their computers.  If you want a working version, you can download here

Don't forget there is no other things that got corrupt however.  Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

  • Safari in Mac dock iPad - why?

My mac has been turned off for a day or two and when I just turned it back on, I found a new element at the top of my Dock (located to the right of the screen) which is identified as "The iPad Safari" and it is mirroring what the current page I opened on my iPad.

1: how it goes here (what 'functionality' suddenly linked my iPad Safari on my Mac)?

2: How can I stop this from happening?  I do a lot of browsing on my iPad and really don't want kids to watch on my Mac to see what I'm doing on my iPad.

  • Why not Firefox 23 show the bar menu, bookmarks bar or dock despite uninstall/reinstall, reboots, etc., well than Safari works well?

FF worked fine until today, when all of a sudden it stopped display of the menu bar, bookmarks, navigation and even my dock! All I get is a display full page of Google. It happened when I went to the top to check the history - got the beachball, typical of FF and the history, I found. So I had to leave FF and open it again, and the page is screwed in place, that's what I got. FF gave me a lot of problems over the years, but it's brand new. I work on my Macbook Air friend, do not know what version of FF she had, but I uninstalled (by trashing it), restarted and downloaded the latest FF. same problem. I did a disk utility repair permissions, no effect. I'll have to do to Safari because there is literally zero controls in FF - not even a place for a URL. I don't know when FF 23 came out, so I don't know if that's what she already had. Of course, troubleshooting information is not available, nor 'assumptions about your browser and operating system' works. It's OS X 10.6.8.

Make sure that you run not Firefox mode full screen (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command + SHIFT + F).

  • Why is there no USB - C good docks yet?

I was wondering, with all these beautiful fake USB - C docks in startup mode for (sometimes) more than a year: what's the problem? I feel that there is a lack of decent and reliable USB - 3.1 chipsets.

Apple may have taken the measure to USB - C far too early.

A decent USB - C dock for me

    • Supports USB Superspeed 3.1 (10 Gbps) on all its ports USB (USB - C and USB - A)
    • Charge the Macbook in use
      • Preference also when the Macbook is in target disk Mode
    • And (afaic):
      • (2 x) Thunderbolt (to allow the re-use of existing adapters)
      • 4K HDMI to a decent refresh rate
      • DVI
      • Gigabit Ethernet
      • Headphones (audio analog)

But what you see is a few docks USB - C do not recharge, confined to USB 3.1 Gen 1 (or 5Gbps USB 3.0 alias) speeds, is not love at first sight.

The 12 "MacBook" USB - C is limited to 5 Gbps.

So a USB - C dock with 10 Gbit/s will not work, and the Thunderbolt ports will not be an option. Also 4 k at 30 hz is the maximum capacity of the digital, the docks cannot increase the graphics capability, or ports USB - C speed.

  • Why I unexpectedly have the terminal icon in my dock?

    Hello!

I don't think that I have consulted my terminal, and yet, I just noticed in my dock.  When I clicked it, I received this message:

    margretcollins - bash - 80 x 24

Last login: Tuesday March 15 10:33:42 on ttys000

    Margrets-MacBook-Air: ~ margretcollins$

Thus, the name is mine and I think that my mac is called 'margrets-macbook-air '.  Don't know how to check this.

I tried to view the contents of a CD of medical imaging that is formatted in CDSView (which is only for PCs).  When you are prompted to search for an application to open, I research and went to the app store where I read on an application, but does not download it.

I know that ttys000 refers to the first selected Terminal. However, I don't know exactly what a terminal is or how it relates to my mac.

Other that that, I did not something extraordinary: just read email, some articles online, looked at my calendar, looked at Fitbit data of sleep and that's it.

Nobody knows what causes the terminal pop icon in your dock another intentionally research on the terminal and access? Anyone know if there is an indication of any malicious activity, i.e. is someone pretending to be me, poking around in my mac?

    Thank you!

Unix-based operating system on your Mac (OS X).  The Terminal application, which resides in your Applications > Utilities folder, is used to enter Unix commands directly.

A way to see the name of your computer is through system preferences > sharing.  The name you specify appears valid.

It is therefore likely that your attempt to view the contents of this CD opened Terminal.  I don't worry about this.
