Why my password won't work unless I reboot?

My password for my Macbook Pro will not work after that my laptop goes to sleep - until I reboot the machine. Then, it works perfectly and gives me a message asking if I would like for applications that were open before they reopen. Whenever my machine goes to sleep, I have to restart to recover to use. Any suggestions on what is happening? Obviously, my password work. It is just hung up somehow the first time I try to use it.

You can try to change your password to see if that will fix it. You can do this in the System Prefs / users and groups / password.

If you are not not worried about security, you can set it to automatic session opening, in the System Prefs / users and groups / Connection Options

  • Why 'Open URL' won't work in Captivate 4?

Help... lost much too much time on this today

Try to add a simple action 'Open a URL or file' to a button in Captivate 4. Should be a breeze right?

Any URL I put in, it does not work when published. Don't even try to do anything. However, the same button will open a file in a new tab when I changed the link to a local file. But never a URL.

Maybe I missed what is quite obvious. Any tips?

    Using Captivate 4 with IE8.

Ok.  I suspect that the problem is maybe that your problem is related to the Flash security settings.  Your location on the server disk is not approved.

You can try to publish the same content in a folder in your my documents on your PC. Work from there?

Then, the next thing to do is navigate to the published SWF file, double-click it to open it in your browser, then right click on the screen of your browser and choose global settings from the context menu.  This will open a web page for the safety of Flash.  Select the Global security settings panel link in the left menu.  When the Panel opens, add the location of the server disk to the list of trusted locations.  Now try to publish again.

Another thing to try is to download your content published on a web server and try to access the HTM file via a normal HTTP link.

  • Why the video won't work (of a site only)?

For some reason any frustrating, Flash Player will not play videos from a specific site (www.vbs.tv) that I REALLY want to see.  It works great when friends bring on their computers and connect to my local network, and it works on my son's computer in the other room.  In addition, on my computer, Flash Player has no problem playing videos on any other site, I tried, but when I go to www.vbs.tv I get nothing.  It flashes quickly this status indicator that looks like a circle of small lines in the middle of the video image, then it disappears and I get nothing but a black video image.  I tried Firefox, Chrome and IE - nothing.  I turned down all my security settings, disabeled ad/trainer, disabled the software firewalls, ensured that JavaScript is running - nothing.  But when I installed Windows XP in VirtualBox on my computer (specifically to test this), videos on www.vbs.tv play (!), although horribly (I wasn't expecting video to work well on a virtual machine).  Does anyone have an idea how I can try to diagnose this?  Y at - it something different of course on the videos on www.vbs.tv?  It's really driving me crazy, so any help is greatly appreciated!

If you are unable to connect to Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use the Windows Vista System Restore feature, or the Windows 7 system restore feature.

You may be unable to connect to Windows Vista or Windows 7 in the following scenarios:

    • Scenario 1: You recently set a new password for the protected administrator account. However, you don't remember the password.
    • Scenario 2: You type the correct password. However, Windows Vista or Windows 7 does not accept the password because the system is damaged.
    • Scenario 3: You delete a protected administrator account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.
    • Scenario 4: You change an administrator account protected with a standard user account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.

  • my master password does not work, WHY?

I used my master password for quite awhile. Today when I put it in it does not work. HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN? I saw the the way to remove it, but then I lose about 28 login and password for all my financial sites. Why the P/W does not work? AND why would you if it can FAIL. Y at - it another way around this in addition to a total deletion of all my other passwords. I tried to restart my computer a couple of times to see if it would fix itself, but nothing helped.

Have you tried to close and restart Firefox or restart the computer to see if it have an impact?

What security (firewall, antivirus) software do you have?

If the MP password does not work and is not accepted if you get a prompt to connect to the software security device, then it is likely that the signons3.txt file got damaged or replaced by an older version.

Please make all below even if you have done some before as it is often the set of operations which solves
    the question.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    Hope these helps.

I have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on my computer.  I have NEVER had trouble opening a document from this location before.  All of a sudden, I wonder a PASSWORD.  I went and created a password, but it does NOT work when I try to open certain documents only three 3 in Player-all OTHER documents are open without asking for a password.   I tried to reset the password and tried again to open these particular documents.  They are still not open!

Then I "chatted" with ADOBE and they me logged onto the Forum and told me to look for an answer I was ANable to automatically find...

What is everyone out there knows what I need to do to obtain a PASSWORD THAT WILL WORK when I try to open these 3 documents?

ALSO, what is the URL of the FORUM ADOBE?

Thank you VERY MUCH to anyone who can help me.  I have urgently NEED to see these documents today, 18/05/15.  Thanks again!

This isn't true at all. In fact, the specific problem of this user has been resolved when they discovered that someone has added a password security policy to their files. See: How to get and use a password that works to open several documents in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC?

If you add the password to your files yourself and then forgotten, then there is nothing that can be done using Adobe software, however.

This can be done with Adobe Reader but is not able to apply (or remove) a security strategy for PDF files.

  • My password does not work for my email address. I can't receive your instructions to solve this, because I can't open my e-mail address.

I'm trying to enter my Thunderbird e-mail account, using the password I always use, but it won't work. The system responds, "the sending of username failed. Mail server mail.comcast.net replied: internal server error. "I tried to get help to change my password, but the instructions are sent to my e-mail address, to which I can not access! Thanks for any advice you may have.

Go to the Comcast webmail page and see if you can connect here. If you then your username and password are fine. Incorrect server settings may also cause the password error. You may need to update those.

  • Why file > Send link not working? Even do a right click on my mouse does not work. Is there any solution for this?

Why can I no longer send links to Web sites? By clicking on file > Send link does not work or right clicking on the mouse. Both worked before Firefox 6. I can also send emails to sites that don't specify their address, but to say "send an e-mail, click here. Everything works well in Chrome and Safari, but not in Firefox.

Could you check if your setting for mailto links has been deleted or become associated with an e-mail client that does not exist? Here's how:

    Firefox > Preferences > Applications

In the search box at the top of the list, type or paste mailto and make a pause so that the list is filtered.

If change the dropdown to the right column does not improve things (sometimes go to another provider, which, to return and put back OKing won't work), you may need to reset your application preferences. This article has more information on how to delete a file, Firefox will return to the default settings: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cant-download-or-save-files#w_reset-download-actions-for-all-file-types
