Why my upgrade to CS6 installed as a trial despite license valid?

I tried to install a CS6 upgrade on the second computer. I have a valid license for it, installation is located in the 3-year window. The installation process does not include the prior CS5 license number. The program installs as a free trial only.  What can we do?

refuses to accept the license number to other places.  Don't ask me not to
