Why Safari remember password settings 'record '?

Safari is able to store logons and passwords for web sites which is very convenient.  Safari can also be set to never save passwords on selected sites.  This option displays as "record" in the preferences of passwords.  This is a security measure handy for sites such as online banking.

Since 10.11 came out, I found that Safari does not have the "never saved" settings, which I do a session to another.  So, whenever I go to my web site of banking services online that Safari asks if I want the saved password and each time, I click "never for this site".  I can see this setting if I display the password dialog box.  But, if I close it, then reopen Safari, these settings are gone.

Does anyone know how I could enable Safari to remember these settings?

Thank you.

Hello!

The simple things in life can make life difficult, right? Laughing out loud!

Safari > Preferences, click the password tab There you can uncheck the usernames and passwords. In addition, you add the websites you want and check the Show passwords of Web sites

In other words, you are in control!

Bravo!

It is possible that there is a problem with key3db and signons.sqlite files that store the encrypted names and passwords in Firefox.

Rename signons3.txt and signons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.

You can add .old files (key3.db.old and signons.sqlite.old) names or move them to another folder to make it possible to cancel the action.

You must define a new master password after renaming or removing the signons3.txt and all the currently saved passwords are lost.

If that worked, then you can delete the renamed files that are no longer needed.

  • Why is the box to remember password is gray? It used to work now it won't save them.

Why is the box to remember password is gray? It used to work now it won't save them.

This could be because you have set Firefox not remember the history. Who did you intentionally? It is defined in the Options dialog box:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > privacy

Maybe it would work if you choose "Use the custom settings for history" and not to turn off specific things that you want to disable.

    A little luck?

  • How options are related: "confidentiality > don't remember history ', ' privacy > settings customized user > permanent private browsing ' and ' security > remember passwords?

It is said in support of the pages that the option ' Privacy > don't remember history ' is equivalent to private browsing.
He said also that after you activate private browsing does not store history or passwords.

So how are related options: "confidentiality > don't remember history ', ' confidentiality > settings customized user > permanent private browsing ' and ' security > remember passwords?

    (1) if I activate "Privacy > don't remember history" fact it also means that the passwords are not stored?

    (2) activate instead
"Privacy > settings customized user > permanent private browsing."
This still implies that passwords are not stored?

3 If 1) or (2) are together, what is the role of the apparently independent option "security > remember passwords?

I'm sorry but the logic of the user interface is not really clear for me

    Thanks for your help.

    1. Yes. Setting "Firefox will: don't remember history ' prompts you to restart Firefox, after which 'always use private browsing mode' will be checked. The option "Remember passwords for sites" will be disabled and unavailable (grayed out).

    2. Yes. It's the same thing.

    3. as I said, in this case the option "Remember passwords for sites" would be unavailable (grayed out). The rest of the time, this option allows to disable the registration of passwords not in private browsing mode.

    Hi JBRoberts,

    1. what web browser do you use?

AutoComplete is a feature in Internet Explorer that remembers the information you typed in the address, web forms, or password fields bar and automatically fills in that information if you start to type the same thing again later. This saves you having to type the same information repeatedly.

Note: Try the procedure only if you use Internet explorer as your web browser below.

I suggest that you first delete browsing history and later disable the AutoComplete usernames and passwords on forms

    Delete AutoComplete saved information

    (a) open the Internet Options by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, clicking network and Internet, and then clicking Options Internet.

    (b) click on the general tab, and then, under browsing history, click delete.

    (c) to do one or more of the following:

    1. Select the checkbox data form .

    2. Select the password box.

    (d) click Removeand then click OK.

After you have deleted all recorded history auto automatic deactivation method below using all onUser names and passwords on forms

    (a) open Internet Explorer, click the Start button. In the search box, and then type Internet Explorerin the list of results, click on Internet Explorer.

    (b) click on the Tools button and then click on Internet Options.

    (c) click on the content tab.

    (d) under AutoComplete, and then click settings.

  • How can I get the window 'Remember password' to show for more than 2 seconds?

Many hotels offer wifi access with a good and an ID that you enter each time that you connect. Firefox easily stores the ID and the password so I don't have to worry about finding the right, but the gate of the hotel displays a pop up right after login. At the same time, Firefox offers to save the password and the popup is the prompt of password remember disappear.
I can can this setting somewhere or get the prompt back?
I'm never fast enough to click "remember password".
    Thank you

This happens on all websites, or just this one?

If there is a key icon located on the left side of your address bar, you can click this option to open the password prompt again.

If there is no key icon in the address bar, it is most likely because the site is configured to redirect to another page or a domain. Once you are redirected or navigate to another page, the password dialog box will disappear.

Unfortunately, if this is the case, nothing you can do, as the redirect is probably in the codes of the Web site. The only option would be to try to stop the redirection Web site by clicking on the button stop in the address bar.

You can also try temporarily turning the accessibility setting that prevents the redirection of Firefox Web sites. This can be changed from the advanced settings in the page options, on the general tab.

Let us know if it works.

Note: If you stop the redirection page, you probably to reload the page after you have saved the password, in order to allow the site load the appropriate content. If you turn on the warn me when forwarding setting, you will need to disable this feature, after you save this password, so that the website to function properly.
