I accidentally disabled remember password for sites and so now I have to retype the password every time I have something connexiona that I use on a daily basis. How to activate passwords? It won't let me check box.

Make sure that you are not Firefox running in permanent private browsing mode (don't remember history).

  • Tools > Options > privacy > Firefox will be: "use the custom settings for history".
  • : Uncheck the [] "always use the private browsing mode.

  • Remember password

While connecting to google mail, I get a prompt to save password. I never select 'remember the password for this site'. But when I clear my cache and log in again, it prompts me again...

Why he remembered passwords (if I chose this option) and not delete them when I clear my cache, but delete the preference of not remembering the password.

Then, how to remember passwords I have saved and do not forget that my preferences to not remember when the cache has been removed. I tried to disable 'Remember password for sites' in the options, but then he does not remember passwords that I've saved.

I want to be able to remember passwords for sites that I record the passwords, then don't ask me more when I log in to other sites

It was not a problem until I upgraded to Firefox 4 as the new prompt is so big and boring

I delete my cache several times a day I design web pages and the need to update the content.

Do not remove the navigation, search and download history on Firefox to clear the "Site preferences".

Compensation of the "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, windows pop up, installation of software and passwords.

The box "remember passwords" is grayed out, I can't tell Firefox that I want to save passwords. I don't use private browsing. How can I get for a grey box?

  • After having emptied my cache, if I register in a site with my name of user and password, I get "Would you like Firefox to remember this password" how to avoid this?

    I clear my cache frequently.
Every time I empty my cache and proceed to the signing in the email, facebook... I get the same question all over again.

"Would you like Firefox to remember this password"

How can I permanently disable this?

You can disable password manager if you want to never store a name and a password.

    • Tools > Options > Security: passwords: [] "Remember passwords for sites".

Otherwise you can click on the key icon to the left of the address bar Firefox request to store a password and click on maybe ever to create an exception block.

In case you use 'Clear history of Firefox closing' or otherwise to clear the history.

    • do not delete Site preferences
    • Compensation of the "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, installation of software, passwords, and other specific data from Web site.
    • Deletion of Cookies will delete all selected cookies, including cookies with an exception to allow that you want to keep.
  • How options are related: "confidentiality > don't remember history ', ' privacy > settings customized user > permanent private browsing ' and ' security > remember passwords?

It is said in support of the pages that the option ' Privacy > don't remember history ' is equivalent to private browsing.
He said also that after you activate private browsing does not store history or passwords.

So how are related options: "confidentiality > don't remember history ', ' confidentiality > settings customized user > permanent private browsing ' and ' security > remember passwords?

    (1) if I activate "Privacy > don't remember history" fact it also means that the passwords are not stored?

    (2) activate instead
"Privacy > settings customized user > permanent private browsing."
This still implies that passwords are not stored?

3 If 1) or (2) are together, what is the role of the apparently independent option "security > remember passwords?

I'm sorry but the logic of the user interface is not really clear for me

    Thanks for your help.

    1. Yes. Setting "Firefox will: don't remember history ' prompts you to restart Firefox, after which 'always use private browsing mode' will be checked. The option "Remember passwords for sites" will be disabled and unavailable (grayed out).

    2. Yes. It's the same thing.

    3. as I said, in this case the option "Remember passwords for sites" would be unavailable (grayed out). The rest of the time, this option allows to disable the registration of passwords not in private browsing mode.

At the same time, Firefox offers to save the password and the popup is the prompt of password remember disappear.
I can can this setting somewhere or get the prompt back?
I'm never fast enough to click "remember password".
    Thank you

This happens on all websites, or just this one?

If there is a key icon located on the left side of your address bar, you can click this option to open the password prompt again.

If there is no key icon in the address bar, it is most likely because the site is configured to redirect to another page or a domain. Once you are redirected or navigate to another page, the password dialog box will disappear.

Unfortunately, if this is the case, nothing you can do, as the redirect is probably in the codes of the Web site. The only option would be to try to stop the redirection Web site by clicking on the button stop in the address bar.

You can also try temporarily turning the accessibility setting that prevents the redirection of Firefox Web sites. This can be changed from the advanced settings in the page options, on the general tab.

Let us know if it works.

Note: If you stop the redirection page, you probably to reload the page after you have saved the password, in order to allow the site load the appropriate content. If you turn on the warn me when forwarding setting, you will need to disable this feature, after you save this password, so that the website to function properly.
