Why sparse Dimension must always be store only?

Generally sparse dimensions are stored in databases BSO because their dynamic calculation is slow. You can get away with things that affect only a small number of blocks, but sooner or later, depending on the design, Essbase switches.

For example, a year or two ago, I had a customer who had a % 100 dynamic BSO cube (well, actually the accounts was dense and stored - it was as if the developer to read the SER60 and overturned the rule). The good news is that Calc was very quickly because they were just a handful of level zero blocks requiring accounts calculated in the block. The bad news is that as soon as the user started pulling combinations of data from higher level on the rare dimensions began getting really slow because Essbase was dynamically read many, many, many blocks, then add them to the top. A Summit of the recovery of the House took more than seven minutes. "But our Calc is fast! Well Yes.

That's why in OSB Essbase, you must set the most sparse dimension members as stored. There are exceptions of design, but for the most part, their storage is the way to go. Limits, Essbase BSO is very good and quick to combine these numbers.

    I get that a BSO optical. As there is no sparse dimension in ASO this explanation does not apply.

    So having said that, dimensions of the attribute must be related to sparse dimensions because the attributes, use the index to get (or selections, if you want to be specific about this).

    When you take Sample.Basic boxes for a report, you ask Essbase to shoot and (usually, but doesn't have to be this way, ther are other functions such as average, count, etc.) the sum of the scattered members that have this attribute. Essbase does not need to scroll the entire base to do this, but rather via the index selects the members produced with the attribute of cans and their associated blocks and adds them to what matters / other crosses analytical you decide to show.

    Arbor always told us (and it is still generally a good idea except a small number of scattered members like at the top of a hierarchy) never make rare is dynamic Calc, which is exactly what attribute retrieves. This is why sometimes the performance is so slow.

    At least that's my understanding of it. This is why there are no attributes on dense members - logic doesn't work simply as Essbase impossible to search its index for attributes in a cell. UDAs can, however, serve this purpose.

    It depends on. Much of the work that we do, we only create just like NUMBER and don't worry precision. However for financial purposes, a clarification for the monetary values of the application can be very important.

    Because you can limit the size of the string that can be stored.

    I see what you're saying, but that's just the way it is. Why Oracle would need to confuse the issues by having several types of data to store the type Date and DateTime requiring an explicit or implicit conversion to be necessary, or provide an indicator of accuracy against the date where this indicator of precision would take of additional storage space on something that is already only 7 bytes.

    There will be internal historical reasons why it has happened this way... but really there is no need to worry.

    You can try the 64-bit Vista for Windows 7 64-bit driver, most of them must be compatible. I don't know why Win 7 64 bit drivers are not available, there is a user forum and nobody can answer you, I guess.

    but when I go in the newspapers of this calc I see below statement.

    No, this is not true - before 11.1.2.2 CALCTASKDIMS default is 1 if you do not set in 11.1.2.2 onward, CALCTASKDIMS will be chosen wisely (although it is still sometimes suboptimal; "I have always test and manually set).

    CALCTASKDIMS 1 can be a setting perfect condition with a last large sparse, as you have.  If 2 CALCTASKDIMS is not accepted then I'd take word of Essbase she can't use two rare dimensions due to the nature of the operation of calc (probably, which is fixed) and not worry.

    Key to tunnel, is how a demultiplexing several GRE tunnels.
