Why the music goes 'other media '.

I use Media Player for all music.  Recently I downloaded a number of pieces, but they do not appear in my music library.  After searching around, I found that they all entered in 'OTHER' media library in Media Player rather than the music library.  I can play music in other media, but may not know how to get Media Player to recognize that everything is music, so I can have them all in my music library.

Content of thread:

Music I downloaded from a CD purchased and downloaded music from sites like imesh and rhapsody to go to other media ' "my Windows Media Player rather than to 'music '. Other downloads go very well in the 'music '. Those who go to other media all seem to be the m4a or aiff type. What can I do to get these in my music library?

    Hi Phoenixshadows1956,

The music, videos and pictures libraries windows point to the files that store the files of real media on your computer. The Player library simply contains links to multimedia files, but gives you greater control of how you organize and use your digital media content than the Windows folders do.

  • Several copies of the music in Windows Media Player 11.

Original title: why do I have multiple copies of music and video in my library of wmp - 11

    XP pro

    Hello

    ·         You have media files stored on multiple sites?

    Here's what you can try:

    Step 1:

    (a) start Windows Media Player.

    (b) press F3 on your keyboard to open the add to the library of the find computers dialog box.

    (c) click the Browse button to locate the file on your computer so that your library contains invalid entries. Specify the location of the folder in the box look in.

If you are not sure what duplicate in your library entry is not valid, you can add a path column to display your library by following the instructions in the last question. Specify the folder on your computer that matches the path invalid file displayed in your library.

    (d) click on the search button.

If only a small number of duplicate entries exist, you can delete those invalid manually by double-clicking the invalid entry and then clicking on delete.

If you have a large number of entries in doubles in your library (or if your library is duplicated), it might be better to create a new library

    Step 2:

Here's how you can create the media library:

    (a) close Windows Media Player.

    (b) locate the database on the computer that contains the entries of your library. In general, the library database file (CurrentDatabase_219.wmdb) is located in the following directory:

    directories SystemDrive\Documents and Settings\nom_utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player

    (c) right click on the file and then click Rename.

    (d) rename the file by changing its file .bak extension.

    (e) start the player. When you do so, a new database of library file is created.

    (f) press F3 on your keyboard to open the add to the library of the find computers dialog box.

    (g) click the Browse button to search for a folder on your computer that contains digital media files. Specify the location of the folder in the box look in.

    (h) click on the search button.

The player will search for digital media files and playlists in the folder you specify and add to your library. If you have your files and playlists stored in different folders on your computer, you may need to search for files several times, by specifying a different folder every time.

    Step 3:

Avoid the music automatically added to avoid duplicate music files. To prevent music files to be automatically added to your library:

    (a) in the Player Windows Media, on the Tools menu, click Options.

    (b) on the Player tab, clear the files of music to add to the library when played check box.

Now, when you play music on your computer or the Internet, the file will not be added automatically to your library.

  • Lost 90% of the music on Windows Media Player

Yesterday (January 4, 2014), I could download a CD on my laptop - something I've done 1000 times.  The next time I open Windows Media Player, all my music was gone.  I was able to recover a portion of the value of the CD a lot back music - because, the music is always on display as being somewhere in the computer - I saw all the titles I had on WMP in my folder "Music" (in the area of libraries - where you choose if you want that your documents, photos, etc.) and I was able to get some of them to go immediately to WMP , but others wouldn't move - I would like to try to get 'em to move as the others, but for many of them a box pops up and read ' cannot move - this file is already opened in another place "(or something like that) and then I had two things to choose click on -"try again"or"Cancel ".  Anyone else had this happen?  And is anyone know how I can get back my music on my WMP?

    Thank you

    Hello

I suggest to remove the existing library database and then download Windows Media Player for the re - build as follows.

On the Start Menu, open the control panel and open Folder Options.  Click on the view tab, check the radio button titled "Show hidden files, folders and drives" and out the box "Hide extensions of known file types".  Click on apply to save these changes.

Click on the Menu start, open the computer, double-click Local disk C, double-click users, double-click on 'your username', double-click AppData, double-click Local, double-click Microsoft , and double-click Media Player.  Delete all files with the extension .wmdb - do not delete all the files.

    Close all open windows.

Once again, on the Start Menu, open the control panel and open Folder Options.  Click on the view tab, fill in the box labeled "do not show hidden files folders and drives" and enter a check mark in the box "Hide extensions of known file types".  Click on apply to save these changes.

Now, open Windows Media Player and it will start to rebuild the index of the library - the time required depends on the size of your media collection, but let him finish.

    Kind regards

  • To access the music files in Media Player on drive E

My C drive becomes fairly complete (2 GB free), mainly with the music, and I would like to transfer some of these audio files of my internal drive in E (140 GB free).

I tried to transfer an album, but as predicted, when I clicked to play in my Media Player library, it was impossible to find the file because its location had changed.

How can I do this but let Media Player know where to find the files so I can still play my library?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

You can delete the current playlist and then add that the files back in it's current reading list.

You can consult the following link:

  • Why the music memos share button is missing?

    Greetings,

I have a short, but very special file is on the musical notes. I don't want to lose him. I have no share button! Any help to solve this problem, so I'm able to share files without losing this important recording would be appreciated.

    Susan

What mode are you? The Share button will be visible when you view the library with your notes of music, not as long as the memorandum is open in edit mode music notes.

Open library, then the idea, then the button share.

  • Hello. I created a folder music on my external hard drive connected to my asus router.  I can now access the music through my media library.  How can I change the folder when I make new purchases to iTunes easily without doing it one by one

I created a folder music on an external hard drive connected to my asus router.  I copied my music from my iTunes library in this folder access and can now my kodi media network.  How I updated the folder when I do new iTunes purchase without having to do it one by one thanks

You can use a backup tool that updates only modified files.  You don't say what kind of computer you use.

ITunes is actively using media on the external hard drive so you can replace it. Simply copy the media to one other player does not have iTunes it use it.  iTunes is probably still using media to your internal drive.

  • How to get rid of the music files with media player 11 duplicate

I added a new location and you have now a ton of duplicates. How can I get rid of the ones I don't want?

    Hi Mungindi,

You can rebuild the Media Player library which should deal with the issue.

Method 1: Erase the database of Media Player and look for the question.

    a. click Start, click run, type %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Playerand then click OK.

    b. Select all files in the folder, and then click delete on the file menu.
Note You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    c. restart Windows Media Player.
Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Method 2: If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. exit Windows Media Player.

    b. click Start, click run, type %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoftand then click OK. .

    c. Select the Media Player folder, and then click delete on the file menu.

    d. restart Windows Media Player.
Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

  • Why a song I downloaded get classified as 'other media' instead of music, and how it moves it?

New to music downloading but I am confused as to why one of the 12 songs I downloaded is not recognized as music from Windows Media Player or 'Music' on the stage of Dell. WMP it categorizes as "other media". Dell Stage just does not display it at all. Amazon Cloud, itunes, Spotify and all make them, if. It seems to be the same as other categoriezed records (if I moved it to try to solve the problem in the past). He said: it is located in the

    C:\Users\...\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\Compilations\Cars\03 life is a Highway.m4a

where as another song downloaded on the same time is the same

    C:\Users\...\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\Blake Shelton\Red River Blue (Version Deluxe) \03 God gave me You.m4a

It would be nice to be able to move files between 'Music' and 'Other media' autour anyway since he is identified as music number of non-music items such as CD of the Bible and podcasts. Any suggestions?

    Thank you

ADD: If it is a cause or an effect I don't know, but I find that all files in the media 'other' tab when clicked says under 'Properties' in the 'Media usage rights' tab ' this file is missing use rights.» Each file checked in the "Music" tab, said simply "this file is not protected." This is true even for a CD I downloaded twice, once with WMP, then later in iTunes when AmazonCloud couldn't accept version WMP (sick real of compatibility here.); Download WMP appeared under 'Music', but the download of iTunes put copies second under 'Other media'.

Thanks for posting the info. It seems to be just an MPEG-4 AAC audio file normal (so not ALAC). I am not sure yet why WMP this qualifies other media.

If you try to add the song to the library, which helps? To add the song, right click, select delete - delete from library only - OK. Then, go to Tools - Advanced Options and select restore deleted library items (press Ctrl + M, if you don't see the Tools menu).
