Widths of PDF (document, body, table)?

Can someone explain why the below sample works the way he does? Everything I read informs that you use absolute positioning as opposed to the percentage for performance reasons, but it would seem that the percentage is the only thing that is half way predictable.

In the below sampe, theoretically three < HR > tags should match each other on a 8, 5po page... they have not however...

< cfdocument format = "pdf" pagewidth = unit "8.5" = "en" margintop = ".25" >
< style type = "text/css" >
{H}
Width: 8.5 in;
}
< / style >
< p > this pdf document is 8.5 inches wide < /p >
< hr / >
< p > the HR above is 8.5 inches wide < /p >
< table >
< tr > < td > < hr / > < table > < /tr >
< /table >
< p > the HR above is in a table and 8.5 inches wide < /p >
< / cfdocument >

It has been a logged bug some time regarding the scale. You hit the same bug. No wonder I couldn't see it because I got the fix on my machine that will soon be published as a fix. Stay tuned.

    No, it isn't, because it's the kind of thing that must be done before you convert your file to PDF.

    However, it is possible to create a table of contents based on the structure of your file bookmarks (if it has one), using a script.

    You do not have. This kind of change must be made before the file is converted to PDF.

    Anyone know if the Adobe Pro 11 program allows allows you to remove and re - paste new tables in the existing PDF documents?

    Hi span Structures.

    Acrobat Pro XI allows to edit/insert text and images, but it is not intended to do some heavy lifting in this Department. And, there is really no way to modify the tables in Acrobat, because they are generally made of individual vector lines that you cannot fill.

    If you have many changes to make, or want to add/remove a table, you better make these modifications in the source application and by recreating the PDF file.

  • Open the .pdf document in a table with scroll bars cell?

    How do I would have created a table where loading the page in a scrolling .pdf document appears in a table cell?

    Files PDF is media files.  How they are treated is entirely at the mercy of your end-users system software and browser settings.  Many people like me prefer to download a PDF file, then open them directly in Acrobat Pro, thus avoiding any need for browser support.    The best you can do is to provide a direct link to the PDF file and let people manage their own path.

  • Preview of a PDF document

    I would like the user to preview a form (document) front of e-mail or print it.

    I have a database table called FORMS_LETTERS. The table contains all the forms that can be distributed.

    I create a page that contains a box containing two elements. The first element (Pxxx_ID) contains the ID of the table, the 2nd itme (Pxxx_DOCUMENT) is an element of display_image I want to display the pdf file; the source is BLOB_CONTENT. :

    When I run the page, I get the following screen. I need to right click and choose View Image to see a preview of the document. I want to automatically preview (i.. e, without right clicking and clicking on picture).

    How to achieve this?

    A PDF file is not an image, so that does not work like that.

    You can embed a PDF document to preview. Google for "html embed pdf" or something like that, for example:

    Recommended method to incorporate PDFS into HTML? -Stack overflow

    Or specifically for Apex, for example

    View PDF on the APEX region

    In Apex, you generally just download a PDF helpwpg_docload.download_file.

    There are many examples that we would find too.

    I want to auto generate a word from a PDF document. Firstly, the OCR must identify the document. Then I want to be able to select the character 'areas' where the text will be different by document according to the document. Again, I want this automated process.

    We have many forms in our records. From these forms, we generate a list of documents that fully represents what is in the file. To create a list of accurate documentation of a specific file, I have to manually go page-by-page, extract specific information (they are in the same place) and the list of documents manually. I want to automate this process.

    The function of OCR in Acrobat does not 'zone' OCR.

    Server as "automation" is not supported by Acrobat (by license and by design). Acrobat is a desktop application, and so many activities can be "automated" via Acrobat JavaScript and Acrobat Actions (a feature of the 'Pro' version) a hot body will have to be available to keep things moving along.

    From what write you it's maybe that your specific needs would be better served by a category Server product. To research these remember Bing / Google is your friend.

    Yes, there is a tool with this feature in Acrobat ms with the name of "take a snapshot".

    Try the following steps:-in Acrobat Pro / Reader DC > Edit > take a snapshot and then using the mouse select the area you want to capture from PDF.

  • Trying to understand the sidebar in the export of PDF document

    I exported my document of a book in PDF format, with interactive features included. The PDF document has a sidebar in nice with a list of some of my chapters. My question is, if I have no control over what appears in the sidebar? Is it possible for me to handle what that looks like, short of changing my content? Can I change what appears in the sidebar without laying the contents of my document?

    I ask because the sidebar does not include important elements of my Table of contents, the parts that might be useful for the determination of the people if they could see them.

    Sidebar? Are you talking in the Bookmarks panel?

  • Storage of MS-Word and PDF documents in the database that is downloaded through APEX

    I want to enable users to download MS-Word and PDF documents that they created / edited outside of the app to the APEX for storage in the database with other data in the app.

    I know that I should use a queue item browse an area for this purpose.
    I have a few questions:
    1. what type of database data is best for storage of MS-Word and PDF docs? CLOB?
    2. How can the user see that the file has been downloaded? In other words, how can they see the name of the file has been downloaded? I want to show this on the page for later viewing. I downloaded a document, but later, I have no way to see that the document has actually been downloaded. On the page of the APEX, the browse file evidence not whether or not a previously downloaded file.
    3. how the user can download the previously downloaded?
    4. is there a way to give users the ability to edit a document in an APEX application where they can do the editing of type MS-Word (the font size, type of font, bold, italic, etc.)?

    I know I ask myself a lot here and I appreciate your comments.
    -Reid

    In my case, I am downloading screenshots of my application and then display them. You can feel free to use it if you want, the code has been taken for most examples of downloads of files sent by others. Here is a code to help you get started:

    Description Table file

    CREATE TABLE FILE_UPLOAD
       (name           VARCHAR2(4000) PRIMARY KEY,
        subject        VARCHAR2(4000),
        id             NUMBER,
        blob_content   BLOB,
        mime_type      VARCHAR2(4000),
        PAGE_ID        NUMBER);

    How to download file

    IF ( :P20_FILE_NAME is not null ) THEN
         INSERT INTO FILE_UPLOAD (id, NAME, SUBJECT, BLOB_CONTENT, MIME_TYPE, PAGE_ID)
          SELECT ID,:P20_FILE_NAME,:P20_SUBJECT, blob_content, mime_type, :P20_PAGE_ID
                FROM APEX_APPLICATION_FILES
                WHERE name = :P20_FILE_NAME;
       DELETE from APEX_APPLICATION_FILES WHERE name = :P20_FILE_NAME;
      END IF;

    Download Image definition of the procedure

    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE download_my_file(p_file in number) AS
            v_mime  VARCHAR2(48);
            v_length  NUMBER;
            v_file_name VARCHAR2(2000);
            Lob_loc  BLOB;
    BEGIN
      SELECT MIME_TYPE, BLOB_CONTENT, name,DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(blob_content)
             INTO v_mime,lob_loc,v_file_name,v_length
        FROM FILE_UPLOAD
       WHERE id = p_file;
        --
        -- set up HTTP header
        --
        -- use an NVL around the mime type and
        -- if it is a null set it to application/octect
        -- application/octect may launch a download window from windows
      owa_util.mime_header( nvl(v_mime,'application/octet'), FALSE );

        -- set the size so the browser knows how much to download
      htp.p('Content-length: ' || v_length);
        -- the filename will be used by the browser if the users does a save as
      htp.p('Content-Disposition:  attachment; filename="'||replace(replace(substr(v_file_name,instr(v_file_name,'/')+1),chr(10),null),chr(13),null)|| '"');
        -- close the headers
      owa_util.http_header_close;
        -- download the BLOB
      wpg_docload.download_file( Lob_loc );
    end download_my_file;
    /

    don't forget to grant rights of procedure for the use by any person

    GRANT EXECUTE ON download_my_file TO PUBLIC

    Display Image definition of the procedure

    create or replace PROCEDURE "DISPLAY_IMAGE"
    (
      inID NUMBER
    )
    AS
      vMIME VARCHAR2(48);
      vLENGTH NUMBER;
      vFILENAME VARCHAR2(2000);
      vBLOB BLOB;
    BEGIN
      SELECT MIME_TYPE, BLOB_CONTENT, NAME, DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(BLOB_CONTENT)
        INTO vMIME, vBLOB, vFILENAME, vLENGTH
      FROM FILE_UPLOAD
      WHERE ID = inID;
      owa_util.mime_header(nvl(vMIME, 'application/octet'), FALSE);
      htp.p('Content-length: ' || vLENGTH);
      owa_util.http_header_close;
      wpg_docload.download_file(vBLOB);
    END;
    /

    Again, ensure that everyone has rights to execute the procedure.

    GRANT EXECUTE ON DISPLAY_IMAGE TO PUBLIC

    This does not create an editor in the browser, it simply creates a process simple upload/display. For a WYSIWYG editor that manages the PDF format or doc, you need something much more sophisticated, and I can't propose something here.
